They finally got home after the long day. Wheein showed her mother her room before leaving her alone to settle down. Yongsun was bathing the kids; and Wheein could hear a huge commotion from the bathroom.

“No! No, stop it! Haish, YA!”

Then a loud splash followed by squishing sounds coming for the bathroom. Wheein was changing her bedsheets when she looked up at her door frame. Her beautiful wife was drenched to her very sweat pants. Her hair was in a mess and her white t-shirt was a see through now. Her black bra was showing itself; together with some flesh masses. Wheein had to look away.

“What happened to you?”

“We have whales in the bath tub.”

“The kids jumped on you, huh?”

“Yeah, bathing is their favourite time to wash me clean.”

That sarcasm. And it would always turn Wheein on for some reason. She grabbed the towel from the hangar.

“You left the kids alone?”

“No, your mom heard what happened and she came to my aid. She said she could take over.”

“Oh, my poor baby. Come over here.”

Yongsun rolled her eyes as Wheein pulled her nearer. She closed the door behind her and then pulled out Yongsun’s wet t-shirt. Her bra was wet too. And somehow, she had to thank her children. Their Yongsun Omma is so damn y when she’s wet like this.

“What’s with that lusty look on your face?”

“No, I don’t.”

“Baby, I you all the time. I can even draw your lusty eyes right now.”

“Shut up and you can dry yourself.”

Wheein threw the towel at Yongsun but the latter managed to grab hold the end of the towel and yanked her wife closer. Wheein fell on top of Yongsun and she was quickly trapped by Yongsun’s long arms. And Wheein could never escape. Her wife’s biceps were muscular and strong. Once, Wheein tried to hang on to her arm and she could do so for 5 seconds. She was impressed by her wife’s muscular physique.

“What are you doing now?”

“I love your lusty look.”

“You have just complained.”

“I never. I was complimenting.”

“You’re wet.”

“I can make you wet too.”

“My mom’s here!”

“What? We can’t have when she’s here?”

“You’re an sometimes. The kids are with her and you’re supposed to put them to bed but instead, you’re in bed with me.”

“Was it really my turn? Can I see that schedule again?”

“You lost the game last night.”

“Ah crap! I’m not going to play multiplication game with you anymore!”

Wheein grinned before sitting up; pulling Yongsun with her. She then sat her wife at the edge of the bed while she was on her knees. She took the towel and wiped Yongsun’s face and then dried her hair.

Their eyes were still on each other and Yongsun’s gaze was so tender and gentle. Wheein would melt whenever Yongsun looks at her like that. There’s so much love in that gaze itself and Wheein was so glad that she found her lifetime partner.

Marrying Yongsun was the happiest moment of her life. She could never imagine that she could settle down as someone’s wife and even became someone’s mother. She thought without a man, it was not possible but Yongsun proved her wrong.

And falling in love with Yongsun was magical. They broke up once, but they got back on their feet once again. Even though there were so many obstacles along the way; both never wavered or crumbled. Because they have each other and that was enough for them.

Having a family with Yongsun completed Wheein’s life. She didn’t want anything else but just to be with her family every single day; every hour of her life. She looked up above their bed; there was a painting of her family. Wheein painted it. And each time she looked at it, it would remind her of those times when they had the worst moments of their lives.

-

 “Omma, can you hear me?”

Yongsun was sitting at the edge of her mother’s bed. It has been 3 weeks and Taeyeon hasn’t come around still. Yongsun was getting restless and she was dying every single time Taeyeon remained unresponsive towards her.

Wheein could only look on with so much pain in her heart. She knew Yongsun was blaming herself repeatedly. She wished she could turn back the hands of time; that very moment when her Omma was with her. She knew Yongsun would slowly die if Taeyeon didn’t come around soon.

One night, both Yongsun and her Mommy were fast asleep. They were waiting for Taeyeon to wake up relentlessly; they hardly eat and whenever they fell asleep; Wheein was grateful that they did. They needed the rest so badly.

So, while they were asleep, Wheein would take over to watch over Taeyeon. She would wipe the woman’s arms; feet; legs and body. She sometimes would massage the woman so that her limbs wouldn’t turn sore.

But tonight, Wheein wanted to talk to Taeyeon. She had plenty of things to say but Wheein couldn’t figure out how. But she took the chance and pulled her chair nearer to Taeyeon. She held Taeyeon’s hand and squeezed it gently.

“Mommy? Taeyeon Mommy?”

She paused for a second as she watched Taeyeon’s face. Nothing. There was no movement at all.

“Remember you told me that I could call you Taeyeon Mommy? So, I’m going to call you that from today onwards. Taeyeon Mommy, can you hear me? I think you can, right? And I know you’re probably tired because of the pain you keep in your heart and all those heart-wrenching moments you had endured all your life.”

Wheein gently swiped her thumb on Taeyeon’s palm. She took a good look at Taeyeon’s hands; they were rough, but her fingers were pretty. Taeyeon has long fingers; just like Wheein’s.

“Yongsun often compared me with you. She said I’m as short as you. And I have the same fingers as yours. Now that I’m taking a good look; Yongsun was right. I guess, we have the painter’s hands.”

Wheein smiled before she clenched her right hand with Taeyeon’s left. Tears were b in her eyes.

“Mommy Taeyeon, I hope you will wake up soon. Mommy misses you. Yongsun needs you. The two of them have been waiting relentlessly; hopelessly and tirelessly for you to wake up and call out their names. And I, I’m waiting for you to wake up too. Because I want you to teach me how to paint. I want you to teach me about colours and I want to be your daughter for once.”

Wheein continued to smile with tears falling from the corner of her eyes.

“So, wake up one day. And we can be mother-daughter for a day. Just one day, and I’ll be forever grateful.”

-

Yongsun watched her wife carefully as she took her bra out and helped her with a new one. Wheein leaned in for a quick kiss. And then she grabbed a hair dryer. Yongsun was intently staring at her beautiful wife.

Years went by and she couldn’t believe that Wheein had always been here with her. She felt stupid sometimes because she would be restless if she didn’t see Wheein for a day. She knew she was over-reliant on Wheein and the fact that Wheein was her air for her to breathe; Yongsun could not afford to lose Wheein.

She had a hard time when Taeyeon was in coma. Every single day, Yongsun was greeted with silence. Taeyeon didn’t wake up. And Yongsun was terrified that she might lose her mother forever.

Many times, she wished she could just flick her finger, and everything would return to the past; just like how she wanted it to be. But that was just impossible. It could never happen and Yongsun had to accept that no matter how tough it was for her.

She loves Jung Wheein. She loves her so dearly.

“I love you.”

Yongsun whispered when Wheein leaned closer to her. The wife was smiling away and then gave a quick peck on Yongsun’s lips.

“I love you too.”

“Thank you for staying with me; thank you for allowing me to wake up in the morning with you in my arms and lay in bed at night; with you next to me. I will never trade this with anything else. And if I have to sell my soul to Devil just for you to be with me every single day, I would.”

“Stop being mushy. Moonbyul unnie is rubbing off her greasiness on you.”

“Actually, I’m the grease queen. She was just stealing my limelight.”

“Thank god, you’re not a show-off.”

Yongsun giggled before pulling Wheein in her arms. She was about to kiss Wheein when her elder son stormed into their room.

“Omma! Mommy! Haelmoni is asking for Leroy’s pampers.”

Damn, they had forgotten about the kids and their mother. Wheein quickly got up and Yongsun groaned inwardly.

“We will continue later. God, I have forgotten about the children for a second.”

“I love the kids; but sometimes I feel like killing them.”

“Why?”

“They love to kill the vibe.”

“Deal with it, honey. They will never stop.”

Wheein winked before grabbing Leroy’s pampers. Yong Woo was pulling her hand and directed her to where his haelmoni was. Yongsun smiled as she watched her wife disappeared with their son. She sighed.

So many things happened in the past and Yongsun will never forget them. She could never forget the day when she proposed to Wheein and she agreed. And she did it in front of the comatose Taeyeon and all other family members in present.

-

“You’re going to propose to Wheein in front of your mother?”

“And her mother.”

“Wow, you think this is appropriate?”

“I have asked a lot of people’s opinion. Appa Heechul, Uncle Taecyeon, Auntie Sujung and even my grandparents – they said it was a nice gesture.”

“Ah, you want your mom and her mom to witness your love for each other?”

“My mother and her mom sacrified their love for us. I wanted to gift them this so that they could feel at ease that me and Wheein will continue their pledge of love for them. And I don’t know if Omma will ever wake up. But I know she can hear us.”

“You’re not going to give up, right?”

Yongsun sighed; Moonbyul and Irene quickly gave her a group hug. They were worried when Yongsun was losing weight. The last time she was at this state was when Wheein broke up with her.

But this time, they couldn’t console her that much because Yongsun was about to lose her mother to death; to forever. However, they were glad Wheein stood by her side throughout the darkest path of Yongsun’s life.

“I want to marry Wheein. And I want to do it in front of my mother. Maybe she will wake up if she knows that I’m happy with Wheein. That was the only thing she wanted me to have before she fell into this coma.”

“Wheein will agree?”

Yongsun was frowning away. She was terrified of Wheein’s rejection more than anything else.

“I think she will. I can assure you, she will.”

Irene was confident.

“Wheein loves you so much. She is always ready to be your wife.”

And Irene was right. Yongsun proposed to Wheein at the hospital; in her mother’s ward; in her mother’s private room. Everybody was there and Wheein readily agreed. Wheein wanted to keep Yongsun close to her; she wanted to be the pillar of Yongsun’s strength.

That night, Yongsun was alone in the room with Taeyeon. She held her mother’s hand tightly and then lovingly stared at her mother’s sleeping face. She smiled as she kissed her mother’s forehead.

“Omma, I’m getting married. I’ll be marrying Wheein. Are you happy for me, Omma?”

Her heart was aching, but she remained positive.

“Will you wake up for my wedding, Omma? I would love to be there with me.”

-

“Haelmoni!!”

“Yes?”

“Can you read us a story?”

“Oh? Mommy always reads to you?”

“Yeah! But I want to hear Haelmoni’s story!”

“Me too! Yong Woo wants to hear too!”

“Okay, come over here.”

The two kids surrounded around their haelmoni. Leroy was lying in front of her with his milk bottle dangling from his mouth. He crawled towards Jessica instead; she held on to him before adjusting properly.

Then she looked up; she saw two adult children with their pillows; holding hands and they were lying next to each other; facing her.

“You two need to hear a bedtime story too?”

“Of course! We’re your children too!”

So much for being mothers of 3. These two daughters of her could be acting like dorks whenever she was around.

“Okay, huddle around. And Wheein, stop grabbing your wife’s melons.”

Yongsun turned red while Wheein rolled her eyes at her mother. The two children had no idea what was going on; they were more eager to listen to a story than to witness their mothers’ ert moments. And Leroy? He fell asleep in his grandmother’s arms.

Jessica chose Little Red Riding Hood; Wheein was jeering and Yongsun shut her up. Jessica rolled her eyes at her daughter’s playfulness. But nevertheless, she continued with the story. Yong Woo and Yong Eun were falling asleep after 20 minutes into the story and Wheein was amazed. Yongsun was fascinated.

Her children never fell asleep whenever she read them story. They would stay up and Yongsun would be falling asleep instead. And Wheein, she had no energy to entertain her children’s hyperness.

“Mommy, how do you do this?”

Yongsun carried her sleepy Yong Woo to his bed while Jessica tucked Yong Eun gently under her blanket. Leroy was snoring away; much to Wheein’s amusement.

“Since when Leroy snores?”

“I think he’s exhausted. He had been awake for the whole day.”

“Let’s leave the room. I would die for a glass of wine now.”

“Assa~ I’ll prepare it!”

Yongsun left the room immediately; Wheein hugged her mother; lazily wrapping her arms around her mother’s waist. They walked out of the room together and Yongsun had already put 3 glasses on the dining table and a bottle of the finest wine.

“Yongsun, you still can’t drink?”

“I’m hopeless when it comes to drinking.”

But Yongsun poured a glass for herself. The three women sat together; Wheein was leaning on Yongsun’s shoulder while her mother was facing them. It had been a long time since they drank like this together. And Yongsun loves such moments. Jessica loves to entertain her.

“I’m so glad you’re here, Omma. I feel less worry that you’re here.”

“Yeah, me too. I want to look after you, Mommy. From now own. Daddy is not in Seoul anymore; he’s back with his family in Australia. I prefer you to stay with me now. I can look after you better this way.”

Jessica nodded. She finally relented to Wheein’s pleas. The woman preferred to live on her own but Yongsun wouldn’t hear of it. She persuaded the older woman to return to Seoul. She couldn’t say no to her children.

“I feel better too. At least, I’m no longer lonely.”

“You’ll never be alone, Omma. We’re here with you.”

“Let’s stay together now.”

“Okay, thank you my children.”

-

The cold weather was wearing them down. Jessica had to wear layers of clothing; she was dying of coldness. Winter was coming and it would soon be Christmas. But the chill of the winter season was killing her.

“Omma, I have brought you a thicker jacket. This will keep you warm.”

Yongsun came home one day with a shopping bag. She had noticed Jessica struggling with the cold weather. She hates Winter too. It was never her favourite season.

“Did you have one?”

“Don’t worry. I bought for the whole family. Wheein will be home with the kids soon.”

Jessica nodded before heading to the kitchen. She had cooked something earlier on. It has been two months since she stayed with her daughters and she enjoyed it thoroughly. She volunteered to cook while the kids would be at the child care centre.

Yongsun wanted the kids to learn to be independent. And Wheein wanted them to start learning the basic ABCs and basic English. The children enjoyed the lessons and would speak English to their grandmother too.

Wheein finally arrived home with the 3 kids in tow. Leroy had a bandage on his forehead and Jessica was concerned.

“What happened to this boy?”

“This little tarzan jumped off from the slide.”

“He what?!”

Yongsun was appalled as she carried her boy in her arms. Leroy was only 20 months and he was a terror.

“The teacher couldn’t save him in time. He fell flat on his face and there was a small cut on his forehead.”

“Leroy Jung! You’re not a monkey. You’re a little boy.”

“Omma, but I learn something new in school. Humans come from monkeys.”

The smarter twin, Yong Eun suddenly spoke up. Yongsun stared at her blankly.

“What are you talking about?”

“Our great-great-great-great grandmother was a monkey!”

Jessica was amused; Yong Eun is smart for a 4-year-old. Yong Woo was still a child in his own world. He was the laidback twin.

“You mean evolution?”

Jessica wanted to test Yong Eun’s knowledge and she was amazed at how the child could tell her everything about evolution. Yongsun was still disbelief.

“That’s Yong Eun, right?”

She whispered in Wheein’s ears.

“Yes, that’s our daughter.”

“Wow, we’re going to have a professor!”

“I’m so proud of Yong Eun.”

While they were amazed with the child, Leroy was temporarily forgotten. Yongsun had put him on the floor and the boy wandered off without his mothers’ realization. Even Jessica’s attention was fully on Yong Eun. The young boy toddled on his tiny feet as he made his way around the living room and back into the kitchen.

The boy was cooing and babbling while he settled at the corner of the kitchen. Just then, there was noises at the back door of the kitchen; he looked up and then someone grabbed him without the other 3 women’s knowledge.

-

“Leroy?”

Wheein realized her youngest child was no longer in the living room. She was focused on Yong Eun that she didn’t realize Leroy was missing.

“Baby? Where’s Leroy?”

Yongsun finally got her attention. The woman looked around and started to panic when she couldn’t find Leroy too. Jessica also realized something was amiss. Leroy was nowhere in the house.

“Leroy!?”

Wheein was panicking as she made her way up to the bedrooms; Jessica went to the front porch and Yongsun went to the kitchen. The older twins also helped to search. They were screaming out for his name.

No Leroy. No baby in sight. Nothing just silences and Wheein felt like worse. Yongsun found the back door was slightly opened. Then she noticed Leroy’s left sock at the door ledge.

“LEROY!”

Her screams caught the attention of the other 2 ladies. They rushed to the kitchen and watched in horror when Yongsun was holding Leroy’s sock. The child was missing. And there was only one sock found.

“No, no! Leroy!”

Wheein ran out in the cold without a jacket and she was bare-footed. She wanted to look for her child; the child she carried for 9 months. Someone kidnapped her baby! But before she could even step out of the door; someone called out to them.

The 3 of them turned around.

Someone was there. With Leroy. And Leroy was happily cooing like as though nothing happened.

“Hi?”

Hell broke loose.

“KIM TAEYEON!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU WANNA DIE?!”

“OMMA! YOU SCARED THE OUT OF US!”

“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~ TAEYEON MOMMY! WHY DID YOU KIDNAP MY SON?!”

-

Yes, Kim Taeyeon was alive. She woke up the day after Yongsun proposed to Wheein. She wanted to attend her daughters’ wedding so badly that Kim Taeyeon miraculously woke up from her coma the day after.

And when she woke up, it was the biggest celebration of the lifetime. Yongsun cried non-stop; till her eyes turned red and she was ordered to stop crying by the doctor. Jessica was stumped when Taeyeon suddenly opened her eyes and grabbed her hands. She almost killed Taeyeon; that woman scared the hell out of her.

But everyone was glad. Everybody was happy that Taeyeon woke up. She finally decided to stop the agony; the pain and the long, heart-wrenching wait. When she called out Yongsun’s name; her daughter almost fainted but her friends caught her.

And Wheein, Wheein was so happy that she almost choked on her own saliva. Taeyeon had to call for the doctor to save Wheein from disaster. It was chaotic. It was crazy and Heechul fainted the moment he heard Taeyeon was awake.

“Is my waking up so happening that everyone has to choke or faint or kill me?”

“What do you expect? You were in a coma for 3 weeks and then suddenly you sat up and grabbed my arms while I was crying over you!?!”

“Shouldn’t you be happy?”

“YOU ALMOST KILLED ME, KIM TAEYEON!”

“Yeah, I got your point. It was like I was been resurrected from the dead, huh?”

“Ommmaaaa…wahhhhh~”

“Kim Yongsun stop crying. You look so ugly now.”

“WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE SICK?!”

Taeyeon felt guilty. She was guilty of that. This, she knew she couldn’t argue her way out. She apologised to her daughter, Jessica and Wheein. It was a point of madness at first but when everyone had settled down; they were grateful that Taeyeon was still alive. Even the doctors were amazed.

Taeyeon was discharged a week after and the four of them had been spending time together. Taeyeon and Soo Yeon withheld the truth from their daughters; they would never tell the girls anything.

“You’re happy to see them together?”

Soo Yeon asked her one day.

“I’m really glad. Aren’t you happy too?”

“I’m just happy that you’re back with me.”

“I’ll never leave you the second time, Soo Yeon. Let’s just live together as friends and I’ll promise you I’ll never leave your side ever again.”

-

Well, almost. Taeyeon had a chance to travel around the world; she was invited to all the exhibitions around the world. Her paintings were well-received on international level and her ex-university friend had urged her to join her on a world trip.

“So, you’re leaving with Tiffany?”

“Tiffany’s married, Soo Yeon.”

“No, I’m not referring to that. I’m just asking you genuinely.”

“Oh, yes. You know it has been my dream to travel around the world; to visit all the art museums around Europe.”

“How long will you take?”

“Maybe around 2-3 months.”

“Okay, you may go.”

“Did you just grant me permission?”

“Do you want me to take it back?”

“Err, no!”

Taeyeon and Soo Yeon lived together. They were friends; just friends; very affectionate friends. It worked well for them. They loved each other; but maybe it was not as intensified as before.

When the girls got married, Taeyeon cried the most. She cried because Wheein was so beautiful and Yongsun reminded her so much of Soo Yeon. Gosh, they made beautiful children.

“Kim Taeyeon, can you stop crying?”

“Wheein’s so beautiful. I cannot. And Yongsun, she’s you!”

“Yeah, but you’re making a scene now. There are like a thousand pair of eyes staring at you now.”

Taeyeon turned around; it was a simple ceremony but Taeyeon was making it worse by crying out loud like a baby. Yongsun was amused and Wheein couldn’t stop laughing.

But Taeyeon was happy that she got to attend her daughters’ wedding. Soo Yeon reached out for her hand and clenched tightly. She glanced down to their intertwined fingers; Taeyeon was happier now.

She finally got to be with Jung Soo Yeon, the woman she loves so dearly.

-

“Where are they?!”

Taeyeon was eager to meet her twin grandkids. Yongsun had adopted twins from the orphanage and they were just infants. She couldn’t stop thinking of the two babies ever since Yongsun told her the story about their parents’ tragedy.

Poor babies. So, when Yongsun and Wheein finally brought them home after their legalized papers were settled; Taeyeon and Soo Yeon rushed to their home. They were so happy to learn that they would be grandmas.

“Omma, here they are.”

Wheein was carrying the boy; while Yongsun cuddled the girl. The girl was the older twin, but she was really tiny compared to her brother. Wheein gave the boy to Taeyeon while Soo Yeon took the girl from Yongsun.

“Aww, they are so cute.”

Taeyeon was in love. She was in love with the twins. She spent more time at Yongsun’s place with Soo Yeon. They even volunteered to bring the twins home to allow Yongsun and Wheein some time alone.

One night, they brought the twins home. Yongsun wanted to surprise Wheein on their anniversary. The grandmothers took the babies home and Taeyeon was acting like a child once again.

Soo Yeon was preparing their milk bottles while Taeyeon played with them. She cuddled them; blowing on their tummies and sang to them. Soo Yeon was smiling away as she listened attentively to Taeyeon’s beautiful voice.

“I cannot believe we are grandmothers now.”

Soo Yeon came with the milk bottles and gave one to Taeyeon. She then picked up Yong Eun while Taeyeon was feeding her milk bottle to Yong Woo.

“Yeah, I’m so glad we created Yongsun and Wheein yet having the best time of our lives now.”

“You’re right. It’s a blessing to have them.”

-

“Wheein’s okay?”

“Yeah, she has just delivered a healthy baby boy.”

“Thank god! Just stay with Wheein for now. Your Soo Yeon Omma is also on the way to the hospital now.”

“Okay, Omma. I’ll see you.”

Taeyeon was smiling away as she hung up the phone. Wheein just gave birth. She has her own grandchild now. Wheein’s her biological daughter so her son would be her blood-related grandchild too.

She then turned to the twins who were staring out of the window. They had no idea what was happening, but they were just glad to be with Grandma Taeyeon.

“Yong Eun, Yong Woo, we will see Mommy soon, okay?”

“Mommy has baby?”

“Yeah, you can see the baby later.”

“Yay!”

Yong Eun was clearly the excited one while Yong Woo couldn’t care less. Like mentioned before; Yong Woo was the more laidback one. They reached the hospital in less than 20 minutes and Soo Yeon was already there.

In her arms was a blue bundle and Taeyeon could see two fists poking out from the blanket. Soo Yeon smiled widely before transferring the tiny baby in her arms. Yong Woo started crying the moment he saw Wheein. He missed her.

“Aww, Yong Woo ah. Mommy’s here.”

“Miss Mommy~”

“Aww, I’m sorry sweetheart. I’m here, okay?”

Yong Eun went for Yongsun. She was pulling Yongsun’s skirt and the woman picked her up immediately. Yong Eun then rest her head on Yongsun’s shoulder.

“The children must have missed both of you so much.”

“Looks like we have to spend more time with the older kids.”

“Yes, you should. Spend time with them. We can look after this little one for you.”

“So, who’s naming him?”

Soo Yeon asked and Wheein proudly mentioned her step-father.

“And what did your step father name him?”

“Leroy Jung.”

-

The next few months, Taeyeon spent a great deal of time with the grandkids before she decided to whisk Soo Yeon away for a short trip to Jeju. Wheein was strong enough to do things on her own and Taeyeon’s parents were around to look after the children.

So, Taeyeon decided to go for a short trip with Soo Yeon. She had the itinerary prepared and she was determined to make it a memorable trip. She planned from the beginning till the end.

Taeyeon brought Soo Yeon back to the old places that they had gone before while they were dating. It brought back many memories and Soo Yeon was visibly satisfied with this trip.

The last leg of the trip; Taeyeon took Soo Yeon to a secluded area of a private beach. She got permission from the owner who was her client before; he bought a painting from her.

She prepared so much; a candle-light dinner and a night out in the tent in the middle of the beach. Soo Yeon was smiling widely most of the time.

“Tae, were you ever mad at me for being a coward and breaking up with you?”

Soo Yeon suddenly spoke up. Taeyeon looked at her; before focusing into the night sky. The sky was lighted up by the stars and it was so magical to just watch the blinking stars on the blanket of the night sky.

“No, I have never been angry or mad at you.”

“I was such a coward, Tae.”

“We were just victims of unfortunate circumstances. Whatever we had back then was like forbidden love. We knew it wouldn’t work yet we went ahead and got our hearts broken.”

“I never did. I never had my heart broken. You wrapped it with your love, and it was still beating strongly for you over these years.”

“Did you regret having Wheein then?”

Soo Yeon shook her head. Wheein was the greatest gift of all.

“Wheein is my saviour. Without her, I wouldn’t still be alive now.”

“Same. I felt the same way with Yongsun.”

“I’m just glad we chose to let them be together. And because of our sacrifice, we can still enjoy our night like this together.”

Taeyeon smiled widely before pulling Soo Yeon closer. She hugged the woman tightly in her arms and they just spent the night like that.

They could never be lovers; they could never share their most intimate moments with each other anymore but they have this newfound relationship – the most affectionate friendship both ever had in their lives.

-

They were at the airport. Taeyeon was embarking on a new journey. She wanted to visit the museums around the world and since Yongsun had found herself a wife, Taeyeon thought she should pamper herself.

She had been a mother all the while and never had the chance to pursue her dreams. She was so focused on Yongsun that she had forgotten of her own life.

“Omma, go and see the world. But just remember to return home.”

“I will call you every day.”

“You don’t have to call me every day. Texting me is enough.”

“Are you throwing your old mother away now?”

“What, no! I will never do that! You should call Soo Yeon Omma every day.”

“Oh.”

“Yes, oh. Geez, Omma.”

Taeyeon went on for the trip. It was her greatest dream and Wheein had linked her up with popular curators around the world. Moonbyul helped a little. Wheein wanted to help Taeyeon achieve her wildest dreams.

Thanks to Wheein, Taeyeon had the chance to see the purest of art; the wonderful colours that nobody could understand and achieving her dreams – getting her paintings known internationally.

And Taeyeon kept her promise to Soo Yeon. 3 months later, after all had been said and done, Taeyeon decided to head back to Seoul. She misses her children; her grandchildren and most importantly, she misses Soo Yeon.

-

The 4 women had a drink out in the balcony. After that short scare Leroy and Taeyeon had given to them, they managed to calm down and then tears came on. Taeyeon was finally home; they were finally together.

Taeyeon shared her stories and her experience that she had while travelling around Europe. She had met great people and had great sharing session with many painters. Wheein was awed with Taeyeon’s stories; Taeyeon presented her with a gift. A painting with a gift of colours. Wheein was thrilled.

“Wow, thanks Taeyeon Mommy!”

Once again, Yongsun and Soo Yeon could never understand the underlying meaning of a painting. To them, those were just paint of colours. They could never understand the artistic point of view of the painting.

“I’m just glad you’re home, Omma. The kids started looking for you and they obviously missed you.”

Yongsun was relating to the scene earlier on. Yong Eun, Yong Woo and Leroy refused to let Taeyeon go. They huddled around her and when it was time for bed; the children clung to Taeyeon like koala bears. Taeyeon had to tell them a story and put them to bed.

“So, I’m staying here too?”

“Of course, you are! We bought a bigger house so that you can live with us together with Soo Yeon Omma. We paid a lot for the deposit!”

Yongsun and Wheein earned enough to get them a house with 5 bedrooms. They had worked hard so that they could live together with Soo Yeon and Taeyeon. Soo Yeon could only smile.

Soon, the two younger women decided to turn in early. They couldn’t keep their eyes open, but Soo Yeon revealed their real intention.

“Just get to bed. I know you girls need some.”

“OMMA/MOMMY!”

“Ah, is your room sound-proof?”

Taeyeon added on. The younger women rolled their eyes. Yongsun took a deep breath while Wheein knew they had to leave.

“URGH! LET’S GO, BABY! BEFORE OUR MOTHERS EMBARRASS US AGAIN!”

Wheein grabbed Yongsun’s hand and they disappeared up to the 2nd level. Soo Yeon and Taeyeon decided to stay on the first level. They continued drinking; not wanting to disturb their daughters’ rendezvous night.

“So, did you miss me?”

Kim Taeyeon on her flirting mode.

“You called me every day.”

“You were pissed with me all the time.”

“Kim Taeyeon, you called me at 3-4 am in the morning. Tell me, which person would not be pissed?”

“I’m bad with timing.”

“Right.”

The two older women just stared at each other before bursting into laughter. Soo Yeon then scooted closer to Taeyeon before grabbing her hands. She clenched them tightly before resting her head on Taeyeon’s shoulder.

“I miss you. I miss you so much, Kim Taeyeon.”

“Me too. I miss you, Soo Yeon. Every where I go, I would be thinking of you. And next time, I told myself, I want to travel with you around the world; just the two of us.”

“Are we allowed to do that?”

“Why not? We are just like old friends; enjoying our retirement years. The girls have children of their own. Sooner or later, they will be busy with their lives. That would be the time for us to do things on our own.”

Soo Yeon nodded.

“I’ll go everywhere you go, Taeyeon.”

The two older women was satisfied with their lives now. They could still be happy despite not being together as lovers. The love they have for each other were compensated with the love they have for their children and now, grandchildren too.

But one secret remained hidden. The only way to decode that was never. Both women were determined to carry that secret to their grave.

The fact that Taeyeon’s daughter is Wheein and Soo Yeon’s daughter is Yongsun.

They were happy now.

It was good enough.
