Camping (Part 2)

Four Ways

This is all your fault, Jisoo," Lisa complained as she dragged herself along behind the group.     "What? How is this my fault?" Jisoo asked from her position at the front of our little team. "It was you that decided I would be the one to use the compass."     "Maybe so, but it was you that got us lost." Lisa brushed an insect off her arm; she hated insects. "We could have hidden in our tent. At least there it wouldn't be wet from last night's rain and there wouldn't be all these damn insects." Lisa swatted another insect that had been biting her arm.     "Lisa…" Jisoo began but I swiftly cut her off.     "Stop it, both of you," I commanded soothingly rubbing my temple to ward off my oncoming headache. "I have to be here, fine, but I don't have to listen to the two of you behaving like children."     "Children," Jennie now joining in the conversation, wrapping her arm firmly around my waist. "I'd like to enjoy this weekend with my soulmate. If I have to listen to much more of this I'll smack you both upside the head when we get back."     "Our soulmate," Jisoo interjected. I sent her a harsh warning glare. I did not want them to start this again, not when they'd only just stopped arguing.     "Let's take a break," Chaeyoung said. We'd been walking up a fairly steep trail and had now reached the top where a picnic table was conveniently situated.     Once everyone was seated, Chaeyoung asked the question that she, Jisoo and Lisa had wanted to ask for the last few hours. "So, Y/N, you and Hanbin seem pretty close. Is that something we should worry about? I don't want a fourth person to compete against."      "He's just a friend," I answered quickly, apparently too quickly for the girls as they faced me with questioning looks.     "Seems a little too close to just be a friend," Lisa stated, crossing her arms against her chest and slinging her feet up on the bench.     I sighed and shook my head.     This ery was getting old.     "Nothing has ever or will ever happen between me and Hanbin. He is literally like a second brother. Miss overprotective over there decided that Hanbin helping me put up a tent was him making a move on me and went all cavewoman on his ." I said gesturing towards Jennie.     "I stand by my actions and I bet he'll keep his distance now." Jennie protested.     Chaeyoung nodded approvingly. "I may not like the way you did it but at least he has been warned."      "I second that," Lisa added.     I can't believe the one time they choose to get on is over something fundamentally stupid. It's ridiculous to think Hanbin and I would ever be romantically entwined.     "To be honest, even before I found out you were my soulmate, I've never liked how close he was with you," Jisoo admitted.     "Regardless of your feelings towards him, he's been nothing but helpful so please, if only for me, try to be nice." I stood. "Let's go. We've got to find our way to the meeting point." I said as I headed out onto the trail.     Jisoo followed me with Jennie and Lisa behind her.     Chaeyoung jumped up and followed us, but not before she finished her sandwich. "Hold on guys. This path is really slippery and we should stick together."     "Let's get this show on the road. Mr Yang will throw a fit if we don't get there soon." Lisa laughed.   *****   Finally, after a few arguments figuring out how to use the compass, we had gotten back on track and were on the way to the meeting point.     We had just rounded a sharp corner in the trail when I heard a scream and Chaeyoung shouting Jisoo's name. Adrenaline kicked in, I ran back around the corner to the two girls and stopped dead in my tracks at what I saw. The trail was gone, wiped away by a mudslide. Chaeyoung lay on the other side of the slide, but there was no sign of Jisoo anywhere.     "Chaeyoung, are you alright?" Lisa called.     "Jisoo!" I yelled, frantically looking down the small hole now filled with mud.     Chaeyoung rolled over and sat up. "I'm fine. Jisoo pushed me out of the way."     S
