"Come on Lisa, why is Romeo exiled from Verona?" Lisa frowned. “You know this one, I know you do." I continued, attempting to pry the answer from her brain.

We sat alone in the library, backpacks scattered on the carpeted floor, our books wide open across the table. Lisa was hunched over her English Literature worksheet, desperately trying to grasp the correct answers. We'd been here for over two hours and the Thai girl was yet to get to grips with Romeo and Juliet. I gently reached over to rub her back as she let out another frustrated grunt.

At this rate, we'd both be old and grey before she'd finished the worksheet and could go on our date. ​

"I don't know! I hate Shakespeare and English Lit so much!" She said, angrily slamming her pen down on the table with a loud bang. "I'm gonna fail English Lit, get kicked off the dance squad and then my parents will kill me. If that happens, I'll never see daylight or your beautiful face ever again." ​

She thinks I'm beautiful? Hold on Y/N, wrong time and place for this. ​

"Lisa, do you want me to show you the character development chart again? It's easier to pinpoint the most important events that happen to Romeo during the play that way." I asked pulling out the character charts from my English Literature folder. "See here, Romeo was exiled after killing Tybalt in a street dual." ​

She frowned again. "Who the heck is Tybalt?"​

How did she not know that? What's she been doing in class? Has she ever listened to a word Mr Yang has said? ​

I swallowed my annoyance and cleared my mind of the thought of walking out. "Tybalt is the son of Lady Capulet's brother. So, essentially he is Juliet's cousin." ​

"Juliet has a cousin?" Lisa asked in shock.​

​

Jesus Christ give me the strength not to strangle her. "Lisa, hurry up if you still want to go on that date later. We're running out of hours in the day." I reminded. ​

"For sake, why is English so ing hard?" The tall girl yelled, running her hands through her long hair. ​

​

"It's not. You could improve with my help if you'd listen to me. It's only a case of recalling facts and information that I know you have in your brain." I sat further forward in my chair and leaned over to grab her book. "You have notes in your book so you probably know more than what you think." ​

Lisa pouted. "Well, then why don't I know the answers to these questions," She said lifting her worksheet and letting it drop like a feather as it floated to the floor. ​

I had to find a way to make her use her brain for once. ​

​

"If you answer all ten of these questions correctly you'll get a reward," I suggested, hoping the lure of free food or a gift of some kind would motivate her. ​

​

"What kind of reward?" She asked.​

​

I shrugged noncommittally. "You can choose." ​

​

"And we still get to go on a date?" ​

​

"Yes, if you hurry up." ​

​

Lisa leaned down so fast to pick up her worksheet off the floor she nearly smacked her head off the table. She held a fiery determined glint in her eyes as she stared down at the questions on the sheet. Within the space of five minutes, she had completed every question on the paper and slid it over to me so I could check it. ​

Question 1 to 10 were all correct. What the ? How had she gone from barely knowing the answer to one question to acing the test? ​

​

"What would you like as a reward?" I asked, voice heavy as I processed my shock. ​

​

"You'll find out soon."​

"I guess that he is going to die later on in the movie. It will be very dramatic." Lisa said in a low voice. After successfully getting all the questions right she had decided we head out for our date. With little deliberation, Lisa decided on the cinema. It turns out she had been anxiously waiting for a movie to come out and so was more than thrilled to seize the opportunity to get me to go with her. As she had stated, it was an appropriate albeit cliche activity for a first date. ​

"I will probably be like a sacrifice he makes or something for the main character." I continued, not caring but making an effort to look interested in the film for her.   ​

​

"Maybe. It always ends with something predictable."​

​

"You talk a lot during movies, did you know that?" I whispered back.​

​

"Get used to it."​

​

"Who says I'm coming with you again?" The comment made Lisa laugh and smile at me. "Don't fool yourself, Y/N. We both know you can't resist me." The blonde retorted. ​

This film was very different, that's putting it nicely. It was about a young girl whose father had worked on a time machine all his life and had completed it. His daughter found it and used it, only to go back to biblical times to find out that Earth had been invaded by aliens. When she got there, the machine broke, so she couldn't go back until she fixed it. ​

Forget different. It was just plain weird. ​
