The sorting hat was felling very  pissted off.

DUMBLEDORE, WHO HAD TO MANY NAMES DUMBLEDORE WAS TRYING TO SORT THE FIRST YEARS BEFORE THEY HAD EVEN GOTTEN COLLECTED BY MINIRVA YET. 

Dumbledore was giving  instsctions on what house each student goes to. What headmaster does that.

The sorting hat surveyed the first years gathered before him. They were a motley crew. Most were shivering with nerves, and some were quivering with excitement. Others were blank and expressionless, but they were few and far between.
