    Ragged breaths shakily echoed through the room.

    Scarlet hued blood splattered upon peachy-pink lips where squared teeth peeked from behind their fleshy barriers. Dehydrated, the female lay upon the wooden floor; bright green hanbok clad to her damp body as perspiration glistened from her skin. With each cough, the scene only grew more and more bizarre - discolored petals spewing from her sore and raw throat as they cascaded into a pile of stained flowers. 

    "What the hell is this?"

    Her voice was barely audible as more blooms raked their way up . Fingernails clawing at skin, she struggled for air as a bundle of twisted stems caught in her windpipe. Lifting herself from the floor, Naria managed to bang her fist against the wall of the small bedroom she currently resided in before falling limp to the ground. Immediately, the entrance slid open as her lover rushed in; eyes growing wide at the sickening sight. 

    Firm hands hooking under armpits, the muscular male lifted his ladylove as he cradled her into his arms. Swallowing hard, he pried open as nimble fingers pushed into the back of to dislodge the stems. After a few seconds of wiggling, he managed to pull them from the graying skinned female's airway; her eyes immediately fluttering open as her body lurched forward from his grasp. As violent coughs racked her body, saliva and blood dripped from as well - an eerily strong aroma of flowers scenting the metallic mixture. Warm palm rubbing her back, Chan pursed his lips as he watched her breathing begin to steady; oxygen recycling into her system.

    Eyes closing, Naria remembered when the first incident occurred. 

    Spring of 1842 - seven years prior of the current 1849 spring she lived in. 

    She remembered the orange calla-lily that spewed from and into her outstretched hand; eyes imitating the moon as she stared upon it. At the time, she was 15 years-old - young and hopelessly crushing on Hyunjin, her first one-sided love.
