Moonbyul and Solar raced back to the precinct to bring the evidence to Hwasa. They reached Commissioner’s office as Hwasa was talking to a black haired woman in a dark blazer, Detective Irene, Seulgi’s Ex. Byul hadn’t seen Irene in forever, they didn’t leave on good terms. Irene blamed Byul for Seulgi’s death ever since she was the head detective in Incheon. An awkwardness filled the room as Byul and Irene stared at each other, silence gnawed at her insides. The silence hung in the air like the suspended moment before a falling glass shatters on the ground. It was like a gaping void, needing to be filled with sounds, words, anything.

“Hey Byul, Irene is currently transferred to the Seoul precinct for a case”~Hwasa said cutting the silence

“Hey Irene”~Moonbyul said as Irene stared at her and Solar

“Hey Moon”~Irene greeted awkwardly 

“Whatcha need Byul, Solar?”~Hwasa said when they presented the blackbox, playing the rest of the recordings

[This is it. Yeah, where’s the boss]~Solji asked as a bunch of shuffling could be heard

[She’ll be here in a moment. Not a lot of people even get to see the boss]~Momo said when a car horn could be heard in the background 

[Nice to finally meet you in person, nice to finally meet the woman in white]~Solji said while a clacking of heels could be heard

[I hear you’re a woman of talent.]~the woman said in a familiar female metallic monotone voice

[I am..... Aaaaah!]~Solji yelped as a gunshot sounded

[What was that for boss?!]~Momo screamed, Solji fell with a thud to the floor crying out in pain

[Oh god! Aaah!]~Solji screamed as the audio shifted

[She’s a cop Momo, I expect you to know better, Jihyo! Clean this up]~The woman said when 2 more gunshots echoed, cutting off the audio recording.

“So Solji got a meeting with Momo’s “boss”?”~Solar said putting the black box down

“Just adding to my list of problems. Too many things to deal with now, gang wars, drug deals, yesterday the only other two SLR’s in Busan were stolen and now we some sort of mysterious criminal mastermind behind everything”~Hwasa stated 

“This proves her innocence, why would they kill her?”~Moonbyul said when Irene interjected 

“If Solji was such a saint, why’d she have 15 liters of nitro in her trunk?”~Irene said trying to accuse Solji

“She needed a way to draw out these dealers, Solji got to Momo, she found the woman in white”~Moonbyul said as Irene laughed

“Found her? More like she was working with this so called “boss”, brokering a deal to sell her nitro”~Irene said, irritating Byul to no end

“Perhaps that was the only way she could get a face-to-face.”~Solar said when Irene looked at her with malice.

“Oh, I don’t remember asking a d*mn synthetic.”~Irene retorted making Solar back down. Her shoulders were slumped and her eyes cast down in a mournful gaze. Solar’s mouth was set in a semi-pout when Moonbyul spoke up.

“Don’t talk to her like that.”~Moonbyul said interjecting herself between Irene and Solar

“Oh you got a soft spot for synths now Moony”~Irene said getting up in Byul’s face

“She’s not just a synth”~Moonbyul said making Solar smile under her breath

“Did that synthetic arm mess with your head? Make you sympathize with em?”~Irene taunted making Byul more irate

“She’s my partner, treat her with respect”~Moonbyul said standing her ground

“Respect huh? It’s a synthetic, I could buy a better one in the mall. It’s outdated anyway why don’t you buy yourself one that actually isn’t a piece of trash”~Irene said gesturing at Solar making her back down even more. Moonbyul seeing this pushes Irene, making her stagger back.

“It? Her name is Solar!”~Moonbyul said as Irene looked at her with a smirk

“So you gave it a name? Cute, did you name the one that saved you instead of Seulgi?”~Irene said, filling Byul with rage

“You have no right Irene...”~Moonbyul muttered taking in a deep breath

“Thats high and mighty of you Moon, saying I have no right. Like you had any right to leave her alone”~Irene said cracking her knuckles.

“You’re........... walking a mighty thin line Irene”~Moonbyul said clenching her right fist, a hydraulic joint could be heard hinging.

“Ooooh, C’mon Byul, Give me a reason”~Irene said crossing her arms. 

Before Byul did anything else, she took a deep breath, letting her body loosen up.

“You’re just trying to get a rise out of me, know your place Irene”~Moonbyul said as Irene welled up with anger

“My place!? It’s your fault.....”~Irene when Hwasa slammed her desk making everyone go quiet 

“Irene, you’re dismissed you got a case youself to do”~Hwasa ordered as Irene left the room slamming the door. The room’s feeling of uneasiness settled the second Irene left. Solar finally walked forth to stand by Byul’s side. 

“So what do you two plan on doing?”~Hwasa said sitting down in her chair

“Let’s finish what Solji started. This woman in white still needs this nitro stuff, Momo and this Jihyo seem to be collecting it. I could pose as a dealer.”~Moonbyul said making Hwasa shake her head.

“I don’t think you could pass for a dealer Byul, so many criminals recognize your face”~Hwasa stated

“Maybe I could pass for one”~Solar suggested as Byul nodded in agreement

“See problem solved Anh”~Moonbyul said giving Solar a pat on the back

“Byul, let’s talk about what’s really driving you here. Solji was your friend, I understand that. You can’t help but make this personal. But we got people dying on the streets here. We gotta look at the bigger picture”~Hwasa said scrolling through a bunch of files on her desk

“Look, Solji was my friend but so is Hani. This is about giving Hani some closure. It’s been hard for her Anh.”~Moonbyul said when Hwasa stared at her unsure

“This is our best shot Commissioner Hwasa. We finally have an angle on this woman in white.”~Solar said reassuring Hwasa

“If I agreed, where are we gonna find someone with connections to? We don’t have time for this.”~Hwasa said trying to shut the two down

“I got just the guy. Me and Solar have this in the bag”~Moonbyul said making Hwasa sigh

“Ok then, don’t get into trouble out there, and Byul.......”~Hwasa said handing Byul the synth chip from the evidence locker

“Why’re giving me this”~Byul questioned as she took the microchip 

“I dont trust leaving that thing here, and you’re the only person I can trust to keep it safe”~Hwasa said making Byul nod in agreement 

“Wont fail you Ahn”~Byul said as the girls left Hwasa’s office. As they were walking towards the police cruiser. Byul notices that Solar was more gloomy with her posture, making her throw her arm around Solar’s shoulder surprising the synth girl.

“What’s wrong Solar”~Moonbyul asked as they left the precinct lobby

“Thank you Byul”~Solar said giving her a hug

“What’s this for?”~Moonbyul asked returning the hug

“For standing up for me”~Solar said as a tear streamed down her face

“Don’t let Irene get to you girl. I am always here for you as you are to me, one to shield the other.”~Moonbyul said wiping Solar’s face 

“It just hurt, I just........”~Solar said crying into Byul’s shoulder

“Oh dang so you can cry? I’ll stay with you as you stay with me, trust in you as you trust in me, and together we’ll overcome anything. I’ll never let anything happen to you”~Moonbyul said when Solar pulled away. Solar stared at Byul looking deep into her eyes, seeing the kindness she always felt. Byul leaned in a little closer until their foreheads touched. Dear god, Solar couldn’t fight against the thoughts that were going through her head anymore. Byul’s lips brush her’s. Not innocently, like a tease but hot, fiery, passionate and demanding. Solar wanted to pull away before she lost herself but she can’t seem to. In this minty moment, her senses have been seduced and she can no longer think straight. Solar was a synthetic, she never thought she would ever feel this flustered by someone let alone Byul. “Byulie...” Solar whispers slowly, prolonging each letter as if to savor them. Byul smiles, her heart fluttering at the way Solar said her name. Solar clasps her hands on either side of Byul’s face pulling her in for another.

“Now lets get back to work”~Byul said while they trotted along to their police cruiser. Solar hopped in as Moonbyul opened a small black box in the cruiser’s dashboard.

“What’s that?”~Solar asked puzzled 

“Its my personal police lockbox, only I can open it. If anyone tries the box goes boom”~Byul said placing the chip inside and shutting the hinged door

“Seems a bit extreme doesn’t it?”~Solar questioned looking at the tightly locked device

“Well cops gotta be protected but it’s not as extreme as this......”~Moonbyul murmured as she put the cruiser into gear and sped off with incredible speed making Solar roll her eyes as the two of them left the precinct.
