SYNOPSIS
In 2013, Pledis Entertainment aired a show called 17TV, a livestreaming program that followed the lives of various male trainees. Though there were seventeen trainees throughout the duration of the show, four ended up leaving, ending up with thirteen trainees, ready to debut.
The thirteen males debuted on May 26th, 2015 under the name Seventeen. They had a reality show called The 17 Project, showcasing their journey up until their debut. Soon enough, Seventeen quickly made a name for themselves as self producing idols, and instantaneously became one of the most popular groups within the K-Pop industry.
But this story is not about Seventeen โ not entirely anyways. Because shortly after Seventeen debuted, Pledis wanted to continue the success of Seventeen, but with females this time around. And on January 6th, 2016, Pledis aired their second livestream program, 16TV. Like its predecessor, 16TV aired for two years before its ending in January of 2018, promising to the viewers of the show that the now twelve females would debut under the name Sixteen later that same year.
Mirroring Seventeen's journey to debut as closely as possible, in mid 2018 Pledis announced that Sixteen will be starring in their own debut reality show titled Sixteen Wishes to Debut! And just days before the show was due to air, the company also revealed that Seventeen will be featured heavily throughout the show, serving as Sixteen's mentors.
With all this buildup surrounding Sixteen and their inevitable debut, are they actually ready to debut?
