Jaehwan smiled brightly when he heard the front door open, coming around the corner to see you step inside the apartment. He had been waiting for you for the past hour to get home.

“Jyani!” you cried enthusiastically when you saw him and Jaehwan blinked. He knew you had gone out for dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday but he hadn’t expected you to come home this intoxicated. He pouted, knowing the movie and snacks he had set up would have to wait for another night. He was tired from work and had wanted nothing more than to surprise you with a snuggle and movie fest on the sofa, but it was you surprising him instead.

All the same, when you moved into his arms happily, he hugged you back tightly, a chuckle leaving his mouth at your whines. “I missed you!”

“I missed you more,” he assured, patting at your hair gently. “Did you have fun?”

“Mhm!” You looked up at him brightly and then nuzzled your nose into his. He couldn’t help but laugh at how endearing you were, drunk or not, you always had this habit of making his heart flutter whenever you were cute. “But I wish I had been here with you!”

“Well, you are now.”

You grabbed his hand and smiled widely, dragging him off towards the bedroom. He shook his head and diverted you both to the sofa, a huff of air leaving you when he pulled you down. “Don’t you want me?”

“Maybe later,” he offered, distracting you from your naughty train of thoughts. As much as he wanted you, he liked it when you were lucid and not going to fall asleep halfway through. He’d learned that the hard way. Instead, Jaehwan helped you lay down in his lap, his hand instinctively going to your hair and running through your tresses in a rhythm. You sighed in content.

Until a train of thought hit you. “Did you know that Julie is quitting work?! What will I do without her? I already do so much!”

“You’ll be able to do it, baby, you’re good at your job.”

You looked up at him doe-eyed, tears b and your lip wobbled. Jaehwan inwardly cursed, why were you so cute? “You really think so?”

“I know so.”

Over the next half an hour you prattled on about thoughts that came to your mind faster than you could keep up with and he placated every one, soothing you into a calmer and sober state. It was then that you noticed the bunch of flowers, chocolate, popcorn and a couple of movies on the coffee table in front of you, your eyes widening as you looked up at your boyfriend.

“Oh my god, Jae, I’m sorry!”

He shook his head and helped you sit up from where you had been sprawled over his lap. “It’s okay, you needed this.”

“But you clearly made plans for our night and I ruined it!”

Shaking his head, Jaehwan leaned in to kiss you softly, smiling when he pulled back. “There’s always tomorrow.”
