HE REALLY WANTED TO SLAP HIMSELF IN THE FACE. How could he just let Chenle get away like that? Sure, the younger answered his question perfectly. He said so himself, he wasn't sure of his feelings for him, he still couldn't read the response of his own heart. Well, that was a bit expected by him, because Renjun himself thinks he fell too quickly for the younger. It was definitely too fast. They had met not even over a year and he was able to make him fall for the Zhong that hard. Jaemin even thought Chenle was a witch for doing that to his best friend, but you couldn't blame him. He was after all affable.

But he was disappointed that he accepted this date the other offered. This was his way of making him find out about his feelings for the elder. What had gotten into him? Did Cupid turned herself into a devil and whispered daring words to Chenle's ears, or did the Goddess of Love smacked his forehead way to hard that it affected his brain?

Renjun grunted, suffocating his face with his tubby pillow.

He was just scared. What if from this date he falls even deeper for Chenle, but in the end the Daeshim High student doesn't actually have feelings for him? The ginger haired lad can't just throw away his care for the other easily, he would have to deal with them. It would just be a good waste of his time, and he really didn't have time for that. Well, maybe he did for Chenle. But this was why he hated the younger for, manipulating him into agreeing with this supposed date. Renjun couldn't lie to himself. He was afraid of getting hurt. The lad wasn't ready for another heartbreak. This would be his enormous one yet.

He would be the one at fault though. Why? He was the one who was desperate for an answer from Chenle, and maybe because of him the younger was pushed to make a final decision on the spot. He could have thought about it. But well, he knew Chenle enough to know that the younger probably felt awful seeing him all miserable. How can Renjun's heart not melt thinking of that? .

There he goes again, screaming under his covers because of the younger. Cheeks sprinkled in light pink blush as a soft smile painted his chapped lips.

Engulfing a bag of air through his nose one last time before shutting his eyes, Renjun sighed and gradually fell to his dreams. He hopes that tomorrow Tyche would be on his faithful side.

"Mom! Where do you keep that nice vintage picnic basket of yours?"

Bash! The elder lady were crouched down on her knees, pink rubber gloves covered his palms as she was fiddling with the family's sink. Hearing a call from her son she automatically stood up, forgetting the fact that she was clearly under a marble counter, hitting her head with the sink above.

She sneered and slowly crawled out.

"Ouch," Renjun mumbled, "Sorry, didn't know you'd be fixing the sink. It's blocked again, isn't it?"

Ms. Huang shook her head, pulling off her gloves and placing them by the sink. "The maintenance guy only made it last for 12 hours. Should've payed him that extra." She grumbled, "Anyways, what do you need that basket for? Easter is still two months away."

Her son shrugged his shoulder, "Just going on a picnic,"

"With?"

"A friend."

Lifting a brow, Mistress Huang eyed Renjun.

"I'm serious mom!"

"And to think that I didn't saw you making that pink lemonade and bake a blueberry pie. I thought you were inviting Jaemin over." She said, leading her son to the storage room under the staircase, "Well I guess it's my lucky day, I don't need to make breakfast this morning. But please, wash your mess."

Renjun hummed, "After the sink is fixed."

The door to the closet under the stairs were already opened, and Ms. Huang shook her head to the disastrous sight. Looks like Renjun had already tried finding the basket himself, only to make a huge mess, as if a shipwreck had crashed the place. Glaring at her son again, the lady shoved an ornery metal stand filled with umbrellas of different sizes and patterns to the side, then carried a few dusty cardboard boxes out to the corridor.

Renjun only stood there, chewing on his lips as a big tear drop fell on his head. He felt bad for messing the closet up and probably his mother didn't want him to be in the way. He was so not going to make more trouble. The elder lady pushed a few more of the cardboard boxes and behind it hid a drawer Renjun had never know about. She pulled its silver nob, and took out a country styled wicker picnic basket, a silky lace circled around the mouth as well as the handle and had two lids to it.

"Here," She handed him the basket, "Might have to wipe down first. Makes me think of how long we haven't had a family picnic."

Renjun grinned widely, "Thanks mom!" He couldn't stop staring at the twig made container. He had always love the thought of vintage antiques.

Ms. Huang crossed her arms, "I'm still curious on who this friend of yours is. He's a bit special, isn't he?"

The ginger haired puffed his cheeks, "It's not a big of a deal mom!"

"Not big of a deal?" She scoffed, "You literally woke up on the brick of morning to bake a pie for him! You could've asked me to make it for you, but looks like you're trying to impress him." Renjun's mother then fled into a melodic giggle, ruffling her son's dry locks.

The high schooler couldn't help but dive in a pool of embarrassment.

"If you're trying to win his heart, trust me." She patted his shoulder. "You're my son, what about you isn't flattering enough. Baby, you are amazing."

For whatever reason, he got even more excited for the picnic.

The weather mattered a lot on Renjun's today plan, and somehow it seemed all right. Light almost invisible clouds decorated the ocean blue sky while the sun shone itself right above, as if it was smiling good luck at him. Renjun couldn't help but grin back as he was pacing in a brisk way, clasping his slightly sweating palms on the handle of the basket. He couldn't help but grin even wider at the sight of the green grass waving to the flow like breeze with the morning glories on the wall blooming itself to the early heat.

That thought though didn't slow down his sprinting heartbeats, practically it was racing with cars that drove by the pavement. He kept on whispering himself under his breath that everything would turn out all right. Everything would be okay. His first date can't be the worse, can it? It would all be fine, even if Chenle isn't with him in the end.

But that was hi
