Bond

Without a Heart

The past could be remembered for both the good and the bad. It's only a matter of time before it comes to haunt those who finally remember their past actions and in the end, the result would depend entirely on them.

Deep down a part of him knew that he recognized the human who had come into town. But with the answer slipping away just as he would come close, he was left to wonder about what he was missing. The mystery only making him more curious along with the flicker of warmth the human made him feel. In the end, he could only rely on how they felt about one another and the bond from all the memories they shared.

The bond wasn't a topic the council nor the elder vampires talked about. Those younger then them left clueless to the actual truth of what it meant and what it could do. The steps taken few in number yet ones done knowingly or unconsciously strengthening the bond the more the unknowing pair grew closer. The bonding between two souls wasn't heard of happening very often, but if somehow a pair had bonded after the dance of lovers, the result always ended the same. Either one would die by the hands of one of the elders or both eventually after losing the other.

Drumming his fingers along his desk Jimin lets out a sigh. Head throbbing he lightly grimaces, his mood souring the more time passes by. Leaning back against his chair his eyes fall to a close. The need to clear his mind competing with all the noise outside. Breathing in softly, he tries to forget about everything around him and focus on the task at hand. Eyes flickering open he sits up in his seat, his fingers plucking the pen on his desk. Twirling the pen in his hold, his eyes fall onto the documents before him. The words in black ink not registering as the ache once more rushes forward. Biting his lip, the taste of blood only angers him further, the pain consistently growing.

With the stack of papers untouched and his anger growing at the realization that nothing was going to get done, Jimin snapped the pen in his hold. Teeth gritting his brow twitches, the dull ache slowly growing stronger. As ink splatters along the papers, desk and runs down along his hand he throws it angrily onto his desk. Pulling out a handkerchief Jimin is quick to wipe his hands. At the familiar burn from his lungs the hunger that greets him is all to familiar.

Everything heightening further, and becoming far too much. The ticking of the clock is loud, the voices of his employees grating on his hearing, the cars outside and the humans going about their day starting to annoy him with each second that passes by. Digging his nails into his desk the sound of wood cracking goes ignored, until Jimin pushes himself away. Chair hitting the ground, he let's out a hiss. His eyes flickering an angry red as his temper gets the best of him. Veins appearing along his eyes, his vision flickers red, before it once more resumes its natural color. Pacing besides the windows his temper flares along with the burning need to find Taehyung.

Groaning Jimin presses himself to the window, the touch cool and calming, yet the pain persistent. Pulling out his phone Jimin sends a quick message to Jungkook to check in on Taemin. The concern he's met with one he brushes aside. Making his way back to his desk, Jimin makes note that it would best to deal with Taemin as discreetly as they could. The truth of his actions being one that would have questions rising from the elders. While Jimin didn't want to kill Taemin, he did want to teach his ex-lover a lesson about crossing him. When he said Taehyung was his, he didn't exactly know what he meant by the claim. But what Jimin did  know was that the idea of another hurting Taehyung was one that bothered him.

And as much as Jimin wanted to deny he didn't care, he did. He cared about the human. Cared far too much for his liking, and he knew that if any of the elders learned, or even his father, that Taehyung might end up suffering as a result of his actions. If they learned about his association with him, they would kill him to remind him about how weak he truly was.

Pushing himself away from the window Jimin instead turns around and leans back against it. Brows furrowing Jimin tries recalling if he had ever met Taehyung, before he frowns. Pinching the bridge of his nose he can't ignore the part of him that's sure he's seen the human before, but nothing pops to mind. It had been years since he had left town that he doubted his path had ever crossed the younger. his lips his thoughts stray to all those he killed, the question now growing if the younger was related to anyone he murdered. At the thought that somehow he was the reason Taehyung had grown up without a family, his chest aches. The sudden idea one he hoped was not true. Pulling the picture he had kept on his person his eyes soften.

'If I did, would you hate me Taehyung?'

Looking at Taehyung he can see in him familiar features that nagged at him, yet something wasn't right. Nothing when it came to Taehyung made sense to him. His actions often ones he would do without a single thought. His body moving before he could fully process it. His thoughts focused on Taehyung and the dance they had shared not to long ago. The memory of his body pressed against his. The warmth and sweet scent often keeping him awake at night and away from others he would usually bed.

Body trembling Jimin bites him lower lip as he swallows a groan. The dream that now greeted him every night, since then one filled with him claiming Taehyung in every way. Each dream now more vivid that he knew how if felt to hold the other in his arms. Head hitting the glass behind him, Jimin finds himself bitterly laughing. 'What the hell is wrong with me? Why can't I stop thinking about him? Why am I dreaming about a human?'

There had never been many humans that he could tolerate. Even those in the past were annoying, perhaps not as much as before but Taehyung. He wasn't at all like them. While there were parts of the younger that annoyed him, Jimin came to realize that more often then not it was the lack of knowledge about human's that bothered him. Having never interacted or kept one alive for long enough to learn about them, there wasn't much that he knew. Except for where it would be easiest to drink to how to get rid of any trace of their body should he desire. The emotions Taehyung often displayed conflicting and leaving him at a loss.

Making his way back to his desk Jimin slowly takes his seat, the ache now long forgotten as his thoughts race for an answer for all his questions. Remembering the witches having uttered something about a shadow self, Jimin decided he do a little bit more of research. he just had to figure out why he felt like he'd met Taehyung before. Maybe, he had never met Taehyung, but knew someone who looked like the human who had come into his life. He needed answers and he would find them.

Ignoring the curious glances and whispers his eyes move around slowly as he tries to spot the human Jimin seemed to take an interest in lately. Having kept the favor Jimin had asked for from Namjoon, a part of him hoped his husband would understand.  It wasn't like he felt like he had to help Jimin, no, a part of him wanted to do this for himself.  He wanted to do this, he needed to. When he sees Taehyung he smiles softly. 'Is it actually just his smile, Jimin?'

Approaching the human, a part of him feels longing. The part of him he had let go to be with his mate a shadow that would trail after him for the rest of his life. Hesitating his hand trembles slightly before he's moving forward. Tapping his shoulder Jin brightly smiles when large blue eyes turn to peer up at him. The curiosity in them reminding him of himself. Lips parting the words get stuck in his throat for a moment at what he sees reflected back at him. 'Was I like him before?'

Extending a hand forward, his voice is soft as he introduces himself, "Hi, I'm Kim Seokjin. You must be Taehyung, right?"

Nodding Taehyung rises to his feet before quickly bowing. His mind racing to remember if he had ever ran into the older male. Giving a small greeting back, the name is one he can't recall ever hearing. Shaking the hand extended to him he can't help but feel nervous.

"You know Jimin's told me a bit about you."

When he hears the quick beating of Taehyung's heart, Jin can't help but wonder for a moment if that also had an impact on Jimin. The gentle sweet scent, the honesty, the naivety that still remained. The longing from before increases, his memories of his own human mind surfacing. Leading them to a table not to far away he slowly takes a seat before waiting for Taehyung to as well. Biting his lower lip to keep from laughing Jin wonders if he acted like this around Namjoon. The questions he could see swimming and the longing to ask them all too familiar. Pulling out the contract from his bag Jin slowly passes it over to him.

Taking a deep breath he hopes that Taehyung wouldn't end up in the same situation he had. At the time, he remembers feeling lost. He had wanted someone to help him back then but no one ever did. No one except Namjoon, but by then he was dying. No amount of blood able to heal him. Sighing, Jin is silent as he lets Taehyung look over the contract. Catching the frown he waits until their eyes meet to answer he knew was coming, "The neighborhood you live in...isn't safe, Taehyung."

At the questioning look he waves his hand to all the buildings broken down. As he slowly began to explain the situation to the younger, his eyes remained trained on every expression and ears straining to listen to every voice and sound to ensure no hunter was near. After a few questions from Taehyung he leads them to the neighborhood of the witches. Standing outside the apartment he nudge the other to go in. Seeing a few witches watching them Jin didn't dare to go in. He was no longer welcomed, they had made that clear on the day Namjoon turned him.

Seeing Wheein, Hyejin, and Hani he gives a brief nod. 'He'll be safe  with them.' His voice soft as he whispers, "look after him, please."

Smiling Jin turns around, the feeling of Taehyung's eyes on him making him feel like he was definitely looking into the past. 'If I had listened would I have stayed human?'

Sighing, Jimin pushes away from his desk. Having come to the realization that Taehyung wasn't related to anyone he had killed before he frowns. Gazing down at the picture of the human on his desk, he runs his hands through his hair. Hiding the picture of Taehyung in his wallet, he slowly rises to his feet.'Where do I know you from, Taehyung? Why do you seem familiar to me?'

Making his way out of his office, his walk from work is a peaceful one except for the burning in his veins. his lips, his gaze lands on those who walk past him. The sound of their heart beats and rush of blood only making his hunger grow. Turning down the sidewalk he growls lowly under his breath until someone runs into him. Looking up the all too familiar blush and apologies from the human before him has him smiling sweetly. Why are they so pathetic? The make this too easy. Reassuring the young women that he was alright, he finds himself compelling her.

Voice softening his eyes glow, her eyes locked with his own, gently brushing the hair out of her face he leans in, "we are going to go for a little walk. Your going to stay calm and smile."

At the nod, Jimin takes her down as far from his company as he can. The hunger having his fangs falling past his lips. Once they were both out of sight he's harshly biting into her neck, his bite vicious as he drinks. Swallowing mouthfuls of blood, his grip on her shoulders tighten.  Her blood doing nothing to soothe the pain. Growling he bites down harder. Why isn't it going away? Why am I so hungry?

Ripping himself away he wipes at his mouth with the back of his hand. Ordering her to go back home immediately and clean up. He makes sure she forgets before storming off. Running his hands through his hair, Jimin swallows the strings of words he wanted to yell. Trying to get himself to calm down Jimin leans against the nearest wall. Pinching the bridge of his nose he takes in a deep breath.

Head snapping to the side when he breathes in vanilla the burning pain dims. Eyes landing on Taehyung he finds himself walking towards him. His eyes lighting up and a small thump of his dead heart moving. Gently tapping Taehyung's shoulder he feels warm, as blue eyes land on him. Breath hitching, he's at a loss about what to say. Cursing at himself for suddenly coming over, his thoughts still at the soft deep voice, "Hey, Jimin."

"Hey, Taehyung."

Shoving his hands into his pockets Jimin looks the younger over. His gaze lingering on soft lips. Coughing he tears his gaze away, the warmth from before seeming to grow. Rubbing the back of his head, Jimin misses the way Taehyung's eyes soften. Ignoring the curious glances from the people that pass by his thoughts stray to what he had been planning to do before.

"Did you want to go for a walk?"

Startled out of his thoughts about how hot Jimin looked in a suit Taehyung slowly blinks. Realizing he was merely staring at Jimin he tilts his head to the side. As the elder repeats himself he excitedly yells out,"Yes!"

Cheeks flushing Taehyung fumbles with his words, "I-I didn't mean to yell. I would love to go on a walk with you if you want."

Modified he looks away from Jimin. At the hand gently gripping his elbow he's shyly peering up at him.

"Of course, I want too, Taehyung."

Smiling, Taehyung can't help but grin back. Following after Jimin, he slowly begins to walk down the side walk. Rubbing his hand along his chest, Taehyung's both relieved and confused. The ache in his chest gone, brows furrowing he can't help but wonder if he ate something bad. Shaking his head, he's quick to ask Jimin about his day.

As they walked Jimin couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief, the ache from before is long gone. Eyes landing on the human's neck, he drags his gaze away. Biting his lower lip, he focuses on Taehyung. Listening to Taehyung talking about his day, he can't help but smile. His mood brightening and body relaxing at the soothing baritone voice that was Taehyung. Hearing that the younger had moved apartments, he feels relief at the knowledge that the witches had taken him in. 'They'll keep him from dying, from becoming one of us.'

Deciding to thank Jin later, Jimin finds himself coming to a stop. The urge he had been having since he had seen Taehyung becoming to much. He wanted to spend more time with the other. He needed to for some reason he couldn't explain. When blue eyes turn to him in question at his lack of conversation, he's asking, "Did you want to have dinner together? Tonight?"

At the look of surprise he feels himself flush. Rubbing the back of his neck, just as he goes to take it back he hears it, "I'd love to, Jimin."

"Really?"

At the small nod and blush, Jimin can't help but grin at Taehyung. The sudden change in Taehyung's scent having him taking a step closer. Realizing he was far too close he's quick to take a step back. Turning around he offers to take the younger home. The silence between them calming. Dropping Taehyung off at the door of his apartment he quietly asks the younger about the time he would be dropping by. Waiting until Taehyung is inside Jimin turns on his heels before rushing off.

Grinning wickedly Jungkook softly beings to hum as he makes his way down the staircase. Having made sure he hadn't been followed, he quickly unlocks the door leading to the basement. Passing by the various door, he slowly comes to a stop before one. Bringing the blood bag to his lips, he begins to drink. Letting out a moan, he squeezes around the bag, the rush of blood growing the more that spills by his lips. Peering through the bars of the window of the door, his eyes land on Taemin. The sight of the vampire chained one he couldn't help but enjoy.

Lips pulling back with a pop, he throws the blood bag to Taemin. The blood remaining hardly a mouthful. Laughing, he can't help but smile at the glare thrown his way. Watching Taemin struggling, he leans against the door on his side. Eventually, Taemin manages to get his hands on the blood bags. The sight of the veins along his skin vanishing and color returning.

"There going to come looking for me."

Turning to meet Taemin's gaze, Jungkook scoffs. Pushing himself away from the door he begins to make his way back upstairs. Just as he opens the door, he steals a glance back. Staring down the hall he finally gives the other a reply, "No one's looking, and you already know it. So instead of trying to make yourself feel better, get over yourself. No one wants you."

Closing the door behind him, Jungkook makes his way up the stairs.

Standing outside of Taehyung's apartment at exactly seven, Jimin rolls on the back of his feet. Taking one more glance at his phone, he sends a quick message to both JUngkook and Jin respectfully, before slipping it into his pocket. Having decided to go somewhere small to get to know each other better Jimin decided on a small local diner. Head tilting back the light breeze has him sighing in relief. Nodding to himself, he's glad that the weather would allow them to walk around. It was such a nice night for a walk.

At the sweet scent of vanilla his eyes snap right up in time to see Taehyung coming outside. Spotting a few witches watching him, Jimin can't help but direct his gaze onto them. Keeping himself from baring his fangs, he ignores the urge. It wasn't as if he had a bad relationship with all of them, but the three behind Taehyung didn't like him all too much. Not that he completley understood why.

Smiling at Taehyung, he softly greets the younger before placing his hand on the small of his back. Stealing one more glance behind them, his gaze narrows on the witches.

"You look nice."

"Thank you. You do to."

The walk to the diner was short. Smiling at their waiter, Jimin lets himself relax at the human run restaurant. Gaze flickering to Taehyung he's silent as he takes in the curly brown locks, pursed lips and concentrated look on the younger. After ordering their meals, he can't help but ask, "What do you want to do Taehyung?"

"What do you mean?"

"Isn't there something you want to do? Job wise?"

"Oh, well I want to travel and take pictures. I like capturing moments in life. What about you?"

Raising a brow in question Jimin answers, "I run a company, that's what I do."

"Is that it?"

Lips parting, he finds himself at a loss of what to say. It wasn't like he could tell Taehyung about him wanting to find his mate. The human wouldn't understand. Leaning back he shrugs.

Frowning Taehyung sits up in his chair, when he sees the waiter he waits until there food is placed before them. Taking a quick bite out of his food he lets out a pleased groan. Quickly scooping another bite, he's quick to say, "You should do something you want. You deserve to be happy Jimin, make time for yourself."

At he bite grin, Jimin takes a bite out of his burger. Stirring away the conversation Jimin slowly begins to learn small pieces about the human across from him. The small quirks having him smiling and the jokes told in between sending him into bursts of laughter. Eyes crinkling he's quick to pay for their dinner, before they both go on a stroll. Fingers twitching Jimin slides his hands into his pocket.

As the night grew longer, They both found themselves before Taehyung's apartment. Smiling Jimin finds himself leaning in, eyes widening he lets out a nervous laugh before brushing away the hair from blue eyes. Taking a step back he quickly turns and shoves the younger to the door before rushing down the steps. Waving good-bye to Taehyung he waits until the younger closes the door before vamping to his home. Slamming the door behind him, he lets out a groan as he covers his face with his hands.

Cheeks flushed Jimin shrugs out of his coat, before slipping out of his shoes. Making his way to his room, he slowly begins to get ready for bed. Just as he's closed the door behind him, he lets out a sigh before sitting down in the middle of his bed. Just as he goes to lean back he stiffens. Eyes falling on the bookcase across his room the zero in on a single book. Mouth drying he rushes to his feet. Grabbing the red spine, he's silent as he stares at the book in his hand. There's no way. We can't have-unless he is. But how?

Slowly opening the book, Jimin traces a single word on the first page. The letters coming into the form of mate. Letting out a shaky exhale Jimin doesn't know how to feel about the possibility of having bound himself to Taehyung.

'We couldn't have a bond, he's human.'
