Four - Thoughts II
Red StringHanbyul sighed at the pile of work she had on her table, totally underestimated the load of her work. Those files were a lot more than she thought she had to handle.
She glanced at the clock, realizing that it was almost 8 in the evening. Her colleagues must’ve went home already. Again, she sighed, putting an adequate distance from her desk—desperate for a breather. Well, being a workaholic sure had it’s toll on herself.
Her tired eyes settled its gaze onto the calendar—catching the same 4 letters like she had always caught everytime she would look at it. The date was totally consuming a lot of her focus from her work. What was exactly the thing that was bothering her?
Right, she still hasn’t looked up to who Jaemin was. Her instincts kept on telling her that he was no good. But boy, was it enough time to call everything off?
Feeling wracked, she turned to look at her laptop instead. She needed help.
Turning it on, she started to close all her files and placed them back to their original places. She quickly searched for the related tags of Jaemin before logging into her Skype account and called the first person that came to her mind.
“Oh hi, what’s with the sudden call?” Sora—her best friend—answered with her earphones in.
“Hi, I have something to tell you.” Hanbyul said stiffly, managing to fake a smile while hoping that telling her best friend she was getting married won’t be too surprising.
“Oh yeah? What is it about?” Sora was unbothered, knowing how composed Hanbyul normally was. Nothing about Hanbyul ever scared her so much.
“I’m getting married. Hehe” Hanbyul showed off her grin for a second before putting on her poker face back.
“What?” Sora muttered to herself, registering what Hanbyul just said. She blinked twice, “You’re getting… married…. WHAT?! ARE YOU FOR REAL?!”
Hanbyul hissed at her nasally voice, regretting calling her. Why the hell was she so loud? “Yes, I’m sorry I just knew this also.”
Sora was speechless, was still in a gape after some seconds trying to figure out if Hanbyul was pranking her. There was no way her friend was getting married. “No no no no no. Hanbyul, why so sudden? You barely have a boyfriend—except the last one—but what? A marriage? Right after you came back? Don’t kid with me.”
Hanbyul sighed, agreeing with her words. What was her fate, really? She wiped her face with her hand, “Look, Sora. I need your help. I don’t know who this guy actually is—personality wise-- but his family is close to mine. You think you can help?”
Sora was known to have a big circle of friends—thus explaining why Hanbyul would need her help in finding out who Jaemin actually was.
Sighing, Sora rolled her eyes—giving up, “Fine. Spill it.”
Hanbyul took a breath, “Na Jaemin.”
That was all it took for Sora to gape yet again, scoffing right after, “You must be kidding me, Shin Hanbyul.” She looked furious to Hanbyul. What was wrong?
Hanbyul hastily shook her head, “I’m not, Sora. Who is he?”
Sora closed her eyes, shaking her head – unable to believe whatever she heard, “You are so fcked up, Hanbyul. Out of everyone in Korea, you get to be with h
