Prologue 

Have you ever heard of Vampires? Are they a myth or a reality?

Well…whether you believe it or not, Vampires are real and they live among us, without being detected…they look just like us…the only difference is…they are VAMPIRES.

But what does it mean to be a Vampire? Do they eat human blood? Do they die if they are exposed to the sunlight? Do you have to kill them with crosses or daggers?

Well…obviously the answer is NO. Vampires are…well…they can be considered mutants of some sort of…since, appearance wise they are just like any other human. However what makes them different from us is that they don’t age as we do.

No…they are not immortal like most stories say and can actually be killed without the need to use daggers or crosses. The thing is…their cellular aging process doesn’t work like ours.

You must be wondering, what on earth I’m talking about? Well, let me put it in simple words…all of us are composed by cells that come in all shapes and sizes.

This cells must divide themselves to perform functions such as growth of the organism or replacement of damaged or old cells.

However, the aging of the cells is linked to the number of divisions they have undergone. In simpler terms…the more a cells replicates…the older it gets and the processes of which each cell is in charge of, starts to fail such as skin regeneration, immune system functions, etc.

Therefore, in humans, when the cells ages, the human gets sick and eventually dies.

But, in the case of Vampires, a mutation on their DNA happened which allows their cells to do not decade despite undergoing many replications. And since their cells don’t age, Vampires can live for a really long time, maintaining their youthful appearance as well as having other advantages that I will later describe.

So, how come no one has ever noticed that Vampires are real? The thing is…some people did notice...and that brought Vampires a lot of problems.
