To Kill an EchoSora's room is about as big as mine. The walls are faded blue, almost white, and the tiles are cream-colored. She has a large, old, dark brown cupboard. According to her, it belonged to Kim Sooyoung's daughter who passed away while doing volunteer work as a doctor in Uruk five years ago, namely Kim Jisoo. There isn't much in her room except loads of bright-colored clothes that scatter all over the room. I sit on the edge of her single bed.
“What with all these clothes? Looking for the café uniform? Something to wear to the bookstore?” I cross my arms as I asked her. My brow raised, challenging her to lie again. “Or are you considering to go to this so-called ‘school’?”
“Look, I’m sorry.” Sora sits down beside me.
“I’ve been suspicious since we ‘accidentally’ met in many places.” I shrug. It is true. I haven't had any validation about her identity except when she told me about herself. I thought that I shouldn't care, so long as she isn't secretly a serial killer; but I simply can't stand liars. Probably because my dad is one. "Anything else you'd like to tell me? Like, are you a spy for the nation, or actually a demon in disguise?"
“I don’t know how you’d react if you know I’m an orphan, or that I’m an underage, living alone in a crappy flat, or that I don’t go to school,” says Sora in defense.
I don't see where this conversation will go--she lied and that's it. I wave my hand dismissively. “Whatever,” I say. “Now that I think about it, you should hunt with me from dusk to dawn, if you want to split cheques.” I stand up to pick some of the clothes from the floor. I can't believe someone is messier than me.
“I’m still working in the café and the bookstore.” Sora glances at the clock above the cupboard. “And I’m late.”
I say nothing. I grab the pile and head toward the cupboard. Sora stops me. I look at the hand on my shoulder, than at her face. “What? My eyes hurt seeing this much of mess.”
“I … I’ll tidy these myself,” she says. Her brows meeting in the middle as she frowns. Her eyes wavers. Her overall nervousness gives away the lie.
“What, there’s something in this cupboard?” I ask.
“No!”
“Blimey, Oh Sora, you’re the worst liar.” I drop the clothes and open the cupboard. I can't believe my eyes. A pale-faced, black haired woman in her mid 20s wearing a floral dress gasps at me. It isn't just her face that is pale. It's her whole body. Working among the dead for so long, my eyes know when it sees a Quiet One.
Sora has been keeping a Quiet One in her cupboard for sometime.
I shut the cupboard, turning around to face Sora.
“Listen—”
“Tell me again how did you hear about me?”
Sora bites her lower lip before sighing. “Fine,” she says. “Jisoo told me about you. She told me there’s a ghost hunter who goes on adventures every night. I’m intrigued and curious. That’s how I found you.”
“Jisoo?”
“The Quiet One.”
I frown. “Kim Sooyoung's daughter? And, what? You’ve been talking to her? Quiet Ones don’t even talk.”
“Yes, and that last question, I wondered too,” The ghost, Jisoo, emerges out of the cupboard, floating. She suddenly appears before me, making me jerk backward, and in one swift movement I have my dagger ready. “Hello, Kai. I’m Kim Jisoo.”
I look past the ghost, to Sora. “You know it's sick that you've been talking to your landlord's dead daughter. And it's also damn sick that we’ve been hunting these thing and you’re keeping one?”
“She’s a friend.”
“Right, friend.”
Sora pushed Jisoo back away from me. “She’s my best friend.”
“How did you even talk to her?”
She shrugs. “I don’t know. I just kind of do.”
I turn to look at the ghost. “You sure you’re not a Weeper or …”
The ghost raises her brow. “Do I look like those ugly Jokesters? What’s with you Hunters and your classifications?”
“An Inmate then. You reside in the cupboard.”
“Might be. I can leave the cupboard though.”
Interesting. The ghost doesn't have the vibe Inmates give—old, sorrowful—so she must be a Quiet One. A Quiet One that isn't so quiet. First, the strange happenings with the Damneds. Now, a Quiet One who converses with people.
“Day off for today. Don’t come to my flat and I mean it," I declare. Then I leave without a goodbye.
I have someone to meet.
Yes, Kim Jisoo is BLACKPINK's Jisoo.
I'm sorry that she's a ghost in this story, I don't wish anything bad to happen to her T_T
I just don't know who to take the role and she's a very fun person.
anyway, new covers!
