Ri Ah and Jung Kook grew up together. Now fifteen years old, they became teenagers. He wasn't as bruised as he was before, having started to resist the adults. And she was as beautiful as she was before, an angel inside like outside. In the forest, the two weren't playing much anymore. They preferred to lie down, talk, read or sleep. On a soft winter day, Jung Kook was slowly turning the pages of a book. Meanwhile, Ri Ah had her head on his thigh, watching the sky and finding shapes in the clouds. “Someone confessed to me,” suddenly declared the girl. The tips of his fingers stopped as they grazed the corners of the page. “Really? Who is it?” he asked calmly. “His name is Yang Ji Un. He's in my class.” “And how did it turn out?” “I told him I would think about it. But it's been a few days now and I still don't know what to do... Ji Un is quite good-looking and intelligent. But he's also quite lunatic. Once he'll be sweet, then the next time he'll be very mean...” Jung Kook scowled. “I don't think you should go out with him.” he said sharply. “It doesn't seem like a good idea. He should be sweet all the time, not only sometimes.” “You're right.” Ri Ah smiled up at him. She then started a monologue about this cloud that looked like a bunny and, at the same, time like Jung Kook. But he wasn't listening. His fingers continued to fidget with the page they had already folded many times. He tried hard to hold back the smile that was lifting the corners of his lips, quite in vain. The next afternoon, Ri Ah arrived to the basement with a bruise on her left cheek. Jung Kook almost jumped on the girl to check if she was alright and asked repeatedly, "What on earth happened, Ri Ah?!" “I... I...” she hesitated, “I fought.” “You fought?? With who?! Why?!” “W-With Ji Un! He! ... He tried to kiss me against my will! So I slapped him! And he slapped me back...” Jung Kook's jaw tightened. He walked past the girl quietly and rushed to the exit. “Wait!” Ri Ah grabbed and pulled his arm, forcing him to turn around. “Jung Kook, you can't just go outside and fight with him!” “But that bastard hit you!” “I got my revenge! Actually, I punched him after he hit me and he got a black eye!” she chuckled. “He's also getting punished by his parents. I'm fine, don't worry.” The boy breathed out heavily. He was furious but she was right. He couldn't do something as stupid as fighting with a villager. It would hurt her too. For a moment, they looked into each other's eyes in silence. Ri Ah's soft gaze calmed Jung Kook down.     “Your hair grow so fast,” commented the girl as she cut a bang and let the hair fall in a bucket. “It's quite impressive.” As always, her fingers brushed against Jung Kook's forehead, creating a fresh spot on his skin. “Are you cold?” he asked quietly, appeased by her touch. “Well, yeah. It's winter after all. Aren't you cold too?” “Not really. The clothes and the blankets you bring every year are amazing!” “Ah, good! I was afraid it wouldn't be enough.” She gave a light tap to the crown of his head. “Here, you're all done.” “Thank you.” Ri Ah smiled down at him and went to sit against a wall, pressing her legs to her chest. The boy got up. He shook off the hair that fell on him and sat really close to her. After sliding a blanket over her shoulders, he engulfed her hands in his. Ri Ah looked at him with surprise in her eyes. Without a word, Jung Kook was softly the backs of her hands. “Are they warming up?” “Y-Yes. Thanks.” He brought their hands up and blew hot air on her skin. “You know.. It's Christmas Eve tomorrow. We should go in town. It'll be really nice!” “You're not going to spend the day with your family?” “My parents absolutely want me with them for dinner. But I was able to negotiate and get the day free.” “Why? You should celebrate with them.” “The point of Christmas for us is the dinner and the presents. I can get all that after spending the day with you.” She snuggled closer and rested her head on his shoulder. “Anyways, there are a lot of things I'm not able to enjoy knowing you're locked up here or... Or even worse.” “Ri Ah... Don't think about that...” “How can I!” Her face snapped up and her fingers closed around his. "Say, when will the ‘punishment’ end?? It's been so many years. It's... It's inhuman...” Jung Kook shifted and hugged Ri Ah tightly, pressing his cheek against the top of her head. “Let's go in town tomorrow,” he whispered gently, brows furrowed in a non-physical pain. She nodded. The two friends usually never talked about Jung Kook's situation. It was breaking her heart and he wanted to forget about it when he was with her.     “Ri Ah.. Are we there yet?” “Not yet.” “Are you sure we're not lost?” “Certain. I told you we had to cross the forest, it's the most discreet way.” “But why is it so long?” “Who can cross a forest in a few minutes..” “Well, I don't know but I'm hungry...” “There's definitely something alive in your stomach.” She dove her hand in her backpack and brought out two sandwiches. “Or you have multiple stomachs.” “You had these all along and you didn't give me any?” “Uh-huh.” “Don't ‘uh-huh’ m- Wait. “Multiple stomachs?” Do I look like a cow to you?” Ri Ah chuckled and pushed a branch out of their way, revealing the outskirts of a city, “We're there now.” Jung Kook lifted his head from the sandwich. He looked with big eyes, gaping at every small detail as they walked on the lively streets, admired store fronts and decorations around the city. Ri Ah watched him with an amused smile. A high and large Christmas tree was standing midtown. It had garlands, bulbs, small angels and presents hanging on its branches and the star at its top was shining brightly. “Why are there so many bulbs? The green

Chapter 4: This story is so beautiful. I'm happy that her parents choose to believe in her, and let them be together. I love it when both of them are there for each other, from the beginning until the end.

Thank you for this story ;)
