The tree was in a fairly isolated area as planned by Seungwan’s father, but that didn’t stop many small woodland creatures from finding rest areas and homes in the tree. Snow had piled up more than normal making it particularly difficult for the smaller creatures, but one brave squirrel was making its trek across the vast lands. His movement was increasingly slowed as he hopped from spot to spot trying to find its way back home.
A young teenager kept her eye on the creature from a distance. For every two hops the creature made, she took one step forward maintain the same distance between them. At times, the squirrel would jump back, lost in confusion and it would cause the girl to jump in her own spot.
“I’m not that big of a scaredy cat…”
She took careful steps trying to minimize the crunch of the snow under her boots and kept a low profile as if she was hunting her prey. In reality, she was almost paralyzed in fear, yet she wanted to prove she wasn’t afraid. No one was around to witness it, but she needed to prove it to herself first.
The squirrel inched its way closer and closer towards Seungwan’s tree taking big breaths before each jump. The teenager kept her distance but ensured her view was clear. She had no idea what her actual plan was, she knew she shouldn’t and probably couldn’t catch the squirrel, but she was too riled up to accept rational thoughts. As the squirrel t
