A Resolve Through GrowthJune 20th, 2012
“I suppose I could visit your grave to tell you this, but I feel like you are hanging out around here.”
Wendy was standing proudly in a purple cap and gown. She also had a couple of sashes around her neck making her look distinguished.
“I hope I’m making you proud. Mom was crying so much, it was kinda embarrassing.”
Wendy gave out a nervous laugh.
“I’m pretty sure most parents are proud of their child when they are the valedictorian.”
Joy walked up in a similar garb and placed her arm around Wendy’s shoulders.
“Yeah, but not many would be excited about their valedictorian daughter deciding to skip university and go straight to working.”
“We both know this is the right thing.”
“What about you? I may have gotten valedictorian, but I’m not the one who skipped a grade and still had good grades.”
“Go to university and miss out on your cookies? Hard pass. We made a promise to start our own bakery together and I would be the face of it. You can’t squirm your way out of it now.”
“It’s going to be a long road you know.”
“I think this tree is proof that your family gets things done. So I have no fear in joining you on this venture.”
Wendy pulled in the taller girl for a hug and squeezed as much as she could, even lifting her into the air a bit.
