Yumi had always hated herself for the death of her parents. It was her 18th birthday, and her family willingly and happily started making preparations for the small family party.

It has always been their family tradition to always celebrate and shower Yumi with so much love on her birthday.

Yumi on the other hand was fortunate enough as she was just a year away from graduating out of the university. She had made plans on working in one of the biggest successful companies in Daegu, and with the help of her influential father. He was able to make reservations for his daughter to get a job at her dream company as a personal assistant immediately after her graduation.

But then the uncertainty occurred as a blast on Yumi's family. It was the night of her birthday, and her parents had left the house to get the cake from the bakery they had ordered it from and that was when it all happened.

The accident that took the lives of Yumi's parents, leaving Yumi with a dark and devastating experience right on her birthday.

Yumi wasn't able to move on. She wasn't able to endure the pain after the death of her parents, but Mr Choi, a man Yumi always considered as her blood relative despite knowing that he's not. He took good care of her and showered her with love and care, but happiness was one thing Choi couldn't give to the girl. She shut the doors to her heart tight, not letting anyone or anything inside.

With the help of Mr Choi, Yumi was able to graduate with good results from the university at the age of 19, and got a job instantly at the company her father had already worked out for her as a personal assistant to the wife of his best friend. All this was possible because her father was so closed to the owner of the company.

Yumi worked with all her heart, but after four years of working with the company, Yumi quit and stayed home instead. She couldn't continue with the job since the company, her boss, and everything related to the company would always remind her of her late parents, she couldn't focus and she felt like she wasn't professional enough. Yumi used all her savings to support the orphans and gave the rest to Mr Choi, and willingly lived as a nobody because she thinks that's what she deserves.

Yumi followed the man behind without saying a word. She was quiet and sad, but she saw it as her atonement for the death of her parents. If she was never born, then there would have been no birthday celebration, no pain no sorrow no death.

"Here is your room," Dean said softly with a calm smile.

"Thank you" Yumi bowed. She stepped into the room and looked around before dropping her bags.

"I will leave now." Dean stated and left before Yumi could say a word.

"Why was he smiling? I hope everything is alright with him?" Yumi muttered to herself. She shut the door and started arranging her belongings, and when she had finished setting everything in place, she decided to rest for a while. All she wanted was to just rest her aching back against the soft mattress, but instead she fell into a deep sleep.

"Wendy what's with this sudden behavior of yours? What is this nonsense your father just told me?" Mrs Son Jade, Wendy's mother questioned in an angry tone.

"Everything Dad had told you is the simple truth. I don't love Baekhyun, neither do I ever intended on getting married to him."

Wendy muttered in fear with her fingers shivering. All her life she did nothing for herself, she only lived according to what her mother wanted her to do and say. She has never loved Baekhyun, not for a single moment, but her mother keeps forcing her into doing things she doesn't want.

"Wendy !" Her mother called in a harsh tone Wendy had never heard in her entire years of life. She turned to look at her Mom, but a slap landed on her left soft cheeks.

"Good. She deserves that." Her elder brother Jackson commented with much irritation in his tone.

"Mom you slapped me just because I said what I felt was right ?" Wendy questioned. She was shocked and just couldn't believe what had just happened. She dropped the glass cup in her hand and ran out of the room, ignoring her mother's call.

"Mom you better talk to her. I really don't want to leave this beautiful huge mansion for any reason." Wendy's brother Jackson said in a harsh tone. He knows the benefits he's getting from living in this place and he can't risk losing that for anything or anyone for the matter.

"No, nothing of such will ever happen. It's either she gets married to our Boss Baekhyun or I will kill her with my own hands"

"Who do you intend on killing ?" Minseo Baekhyun's aunt asked in a firm tone suddenly coming inside the room 

Mrs. Son quickly changed her facial expression and smiled.

"It's really not that serious MinSeo. I was just having a little argument with my daughter Wendy, and nothing more."

"Is that so? just don't get too angry at her. Remember that she's getting married to Baekhyun in less than a month ."

"Yes, I do know that. Thanks for stopping by." Mrs. Son smiled as she waved MinSeo goodbye.

Once MinSeo was gone, Mrs. Son Jade slammed her fist against the wall in great annoyance.

"I really can't wait to become the ruler of this mansion once my daughter Wendy is finally married to Baekhyun, but first I will have to put that worthless daughter of mine in her rightful place and talk some senses into her or else she will ruin my whole plan." Jade hissed and walked out of the room.

Yumi had just finished taking her evening bath after waking up from her long sleep. She felt so refreshed after the long tiring trip. She was about to put something on when she heard someone sobbing nearby.

  She was shocked and curious, so she quickly changed into a baggy top and shorts and she decided to see for herself. Who would be crying at this hour in a place like this ? Everybody looks so rich and happy 

She opened the door to her room, only to find a figure lying on the cold floor crying.

Yumi stood there staring at the sobbing girl for a few seconds, then she decided to speak.

"Hello. Please, are you hurt?" Yumi asked as she moved closer to the sobbing girl.

Wendy flinched at the sound of someone walking closer to her. She knew that no one lives there, so she made that place her place of sorrow.

She got up and turned to look at the owner of the voice, but she gasped in shock.

"Yumi?" Wendy asked with her eyes wide open. "Yumi !" Wendy jumped over on Yumi's body and hugged her cousin tightly.

Yumi was also shocked and at the same time happy to see her younger distant cousin. She embraced Wendy and patted her back softly.

"Wendy, how have you been? How is Mom, Dad, and Jackson, doing?" Yumi asked while observing her cousin.

"They are all doing great. But Yumi what are you doing here? How did you end up in this horrible place?" Wendy asked because to her, it's pure hell.

Yumi was taken aback by Wendy's questions. She didn't say a word, but instead, she looked away.

"It's a long story. Why not come inside first." Yumi grabbed the younger by the hand and took her in
