Foreword

Taehyung jumped up, a thrill, seeking its way through his bones. He couldn't believe it. The answer was right in front of him. A grin slowly appeared on his face as he picked up his great-grandmother's journals. Books in hand, he ran, managing to tip over a vase. It shattered into diminutive shards of glass. He rushed right past it, for what he had just discovered was far more significant.

He opened and closed his front door, movements fluid and confident. Wind sought its way through his wayward brown hair. He passed trees and cascades that glittered in the sun. His fingertips brushed past rigid tree bark as a carefree laugh passed his lips. The sound of birds singing filled his ears. He ran, eyes trained on his destination.

Taehyung's brought his legs to a sudden halt, as he looked at the journey's end. The sound of silence rung through his ears as a shiver passed down his spine. Taehyung had to admit, this place was peculiar. After all, it was a circle of nothing but grass in a forest filled with plants and animals. It perfectly fits the description in his great-grandmother's journals:

“A lonesome place so surely anchored in a timber.”

He let out a sigh and hoped for the best.

This wasn't the first time Taehyung attempted to enter the world that his great-grandmother called 'Entherel' In fact, he has attempted, and failed, several times. But this time feels different. He has hope.

He arranged the journals all around him and closed his eyes. He focused and quietly whispered his new, thought out spell.

When he finished speaking, his eyes remained shut. It felt like hours have passed by the time he opened them again, only to see the same place in which he had begun in. He remained motionless. After a moment, a wave of dread washed over him, as realization seeped in.

It didn't work.

'Of course, it didn’t.' He thought. 'It never does.'

The sick feeling in Jeongguk’s stomach had nothing to do with the ill-tasting liquor on his lips. He tried to calm himself. He attempted to focus on the dim lights of the room he was in. Or the embellished silk curtains that laid lazily around the dark window.

These attempts were useless, however, as his mind always happened to wander back to his dreams. Which lead to that boy. How he infuriated Jeongguk. To say the least, in Jeongguk’s mind, the boy was selfish, or inconsiderate. He’s ignorant to the damage he caused, and he is too stubborn to take the warnings that his great-grandmother had provided him with to heart.

So, to put it simply, Jeongguk was extremely infuriated.

He sat down, nose tucked into his shot glass. The liquor failed to ease the sickness. Or maybe it was anxiety, of what is to come. For he is beyond certain that this boy will stop at no lengths to get what he wants.

He put his dirty shot glass down on the table and stared at the intricately designed ceiling. Just a few moments later, he felt the ground beneath him break into a daunt rumble. The whole castle seemed to shake as antiques slid from shelves, and windows broke at the shock of the earthquake.

Strangely, Jeongguk had the urge to laugh. It’s almost humorous how much impact that insignificant boy had on his kingdom. And he had to admit, it was quite unnerving just thinking about it.

At this moment, Jeongguk swore that he will stop at no lengths to take this boy down.
