SinB was standing still. She couldn’t hear what was Yuju telling Umji but from the look on Yuju’s face it was surely about her. Then, SinB put her eyes on Umji who was looking at Yuju with pleading eyes. SinB swore she almost saw tears in Umji’s eyes. It triggered within her some willingness to do something in order to erase that sad face and replaced it with a smile. But she knew that, even if she wanted to, even if she could, she wasn’t in the position to do so. Not after what she had done to Umji. 

She was so immersed in her thoughts that she didn’t notice Yuju approaching her. The sound of the sword « awoke » her. For a second she thought that the sword lame will end up on her flesh but then she realized Yuju had just put her sword into its sheath. 

• I am willing to let you live. You can thank Umji for that. But before I let you approach her, you have to answer my questions. said Yuju.

SinB was a bit scared. But she eventually nodded. 

• Who are you ? 

• I don’t remember anything about me. 

• I don’t believe you.  You must remember some pieces of information, at least your name. 

• No I don’t. But I have made up a nickname which is …

• Yes I already know. Yuju cut her off. I don’t know why you chose to be called like that. From what I saw, the nickname « crazy snow » would suit you better.

The playful tone, plus the little - really little - sly smile Yuju had on that last sentence, made SinB loosened herself a little bit. Still, SinB show any emotion in return. 

• Anyway, I want to know. Why were you planning to kill yourself ? resumed Yuju now with her serious face and tone back. 

That simple question had a bad impact on SinB as the memory of what happened with Umji came up again. SinB didn’t even noticed that she started crying until Yuju spoke again:

• Why are you crying ? Oh wait. You regret not succeeding in what you were planning to do, don’t you? asked Yuju with a slightly surprised tone. 

SinB didn’t respond. She couldn’t even think about an answer. Dark thought were possessing her entirely mind, preventing it from functioning normally.

• Why is she crying ? 

SinB and Yuju both turned towards the owner of the voice: Umji. Yuju seemed surprised. 

• What did you tell her to make her cry ? asked Umji taking Yuju’s silence as an admission of guilt. 

• I didn’t say anything bad. protested Yuju.  As SinB was still crying. Yuju resumed: 

• It is not my fault if that girl is a crybaby. She is too weak that’s probably why she wanted to end her life. Yuju said with a sarcastic laugh. 

• What ? gasped Umji. She was clearly shook. 

• Umji I do think killing her would grant her wish. It will better for both of us. I mean she is too depressed …

• How can you say that ? First, me and you aren’t murderers. Then, she never said she wanted to die so stop with …

• No she is right, Umji. 

Umji widened her eyes in reaction of the small voice. She turned towards its owner. SinB was looking at her with a weak little smile. Her eyes were sparkling because of her tears. It was tainted by sadness. Umji’s eyes began to water. SinB took Umji’s hand before she resumed:

• Yuju is right. I wanted to « leave » for good.

• Why ?   It was the only word Umji was able to say. 

SinB didn’t want Umji to feel guilty so she lied about the reason.

• Because I have no goal in this world.  Well, it wasn’t entirely a lie. 

• That’s not true. Your goal is to get your memory back. replied Umji. 

• No, it doesn’t really matter. 

• Then, you’re goal is to create new memories … to start things anew … a new life. Umji tried again while tightening her hold on SinB’s hand. 

• Creating new memories is pointless if you have no family with which you can share them. I mean I could create new memories but what’s the point if it is just to keep them within myself. 

SinB knew that what she had just said implied that Umji wouldn’t be part of her future. But she means it. Indeed she didn’t want to hurt Umji … never again. And for that she had to keep her distance with her. Yet, the best option to do so was to disappear entirely. On top of that, it will fail whatever Sowon’s plan is with SinB. 

Umji was definitely hurt. She let go of SinB’s hand. The latter didn’t know that Umji’s action and her stare would be that painful to withstand. It was weird how both of them only barely know each other  and yet, they were acting like there was more than that. And maybe there was. Maybe they had already passed the « stranger » level. And they could have reached many other levels. But, SinB preventing them from doing so. 

Yuju approached SinB and gave her the knife. 

• I won’t interrupt you this time. she said before taking Umji’s hand and leading them towards the house door.  

• Wait. said Umji to Yuju before they could enter the house. Yuju let go of Umji’s hand. She sighed before nodding and entering the house. 

Umji turned towards SinB who was standing still with the knife in her hand. She looked hopeless. Umji walk towards her. Then, she grabbed her hand. It caught SinB out of guard as she looked up and her eyes met Umji’s ones. 

• Calm Snow  … you should know that even though you feel you are  all alone on your own. It is false. I am here … for you. I am more than willing to let you live with us. And don’t worry about Yuju she just likes to pretend she is tough. She isn’t like this normally. So I give you one more chance to withdraw your decision and start a new life. Let me help you for that. I will forget everything you said. Umji said as she took SinB's knife and put it in her pocket. 

SinB was on the verge of complying with Umji’s request. But she restrained herself at the last minute. She chose Umji’s safety above her own life. She knew that if she yielded in to Umji and that if she hurts her again it would be too late as it would be way more painful to leave as she would have created memories. So, she chose not to try and end everything now. It will be easier for Umji to forget her. On top of that, SinB had clearly no reason to stay in that dark world … to stay in the main reason her own world went crashing down. She wanted to vanish just like her kingdom. And the best part was that it would made whatever Sowon’s plan is crashing down. But SinB wasn’t doing that for revenge, she was doing it for Umji. And also because deep down SinB wanted to save herself from darkness. The darkness that was consuming her little by little. 

It was like Umji could read her mind as her eyes began to show sadness. Her lips were trembling and it wasn’t because of the cold weather. Tears started to roll down her cheeks. It was so heartbreaking to watch but SinB was willing to bear it. Umji’s grab on SinB’s hand tightened as this time it was SinB who wanted to let go of Umji’s hand. Umji was shaking her head while her eyes were still flooded with water. 

SinB couldn’t bear the view anymore so she didn't know if it was to stop Umji from crying or for another reason that she put her lips on Umji’s ones. She landed them with so much force it could be mistaken for passion. Maybe it was. She closed her eyes the moment she felt Umji’s soft lips. She kept them shut tightly as she tried to resist to the flood of emotions and feeling that were tempting her to do more. Was it euphoria or just the frustrations which were finally released ? 

What took SinB aback was Umji’s response. Indeed, Umji grabbed SinB’s cheeks gently and caressed them softly then as if she feared that SinB would break the kiss she put one arm around SinB’s neck caressing the nape of it. SinB couldn’t let Umji take control because she knew that doing so would make things uncontrollable. And then the action and Umji’s fervor would be unstoppable. So, SinB grabbed Umji’s arms while they were still tasting each other’s mouth. Umji could feel the passion of SinB so she let her take control and closed her eyes again. She felt her arms being put behind her back. It was weird but Umji forget it very quickly when she felt Sinb deepened the kiss and leaving her lips for her neck. The feeling was euphoric so much that Umji almost forgot it didn’t last very long. 

And when she reopened her eyes, SinB was already gone. All that was left was her taste on her lips.
