There was a clear change in attitude among the four that morning.

Krystal and Kai were a lot closer now. They sat huddled close together in the back seat of the Wrangler, whispering and giggling between themselves.

Baekhyun and Hayan were the exact opposite of those two. Baekhyun stared pointedly at the road in front of him, shoulders tense and brows furrowed. Meanwhile, Hayan leaned her head against the window and stared blankly at the passing scenery.

Not one word had been exchanged between the two since the start of their ride.

“We need to stop for gas,” Baekhyun finally muttered.

There was no reply, just a muffled giggle as Kai buried his head into Krystal’s neck.

The minute they reached the gas station, Kai and Krystal disappeared into the convenience store.

Baekhyun rolled his eyes. He started paying for the gas, very aware of the silver-blue haired girl who had also gotten out of the car.

She opened the trunk and checked on what Baekhyun assumed was the duffle bag of cash. He thought the motel rooms, the Wrangler and clothes must’ve made a decent sized dent in that money mountain.

When she closed the trunk, the band on her left ring finger gleamed under the sun and suddenly Baekhyun couldn’t take it anymore.
