Interlude: The Story of Life

Description

The stars we are given. The constellations we make.

To put it this way, stars have long existed in the cosmos, but constellations are things that humans have observed and interpreted, as a way to make sense of the natural world all the while exploring the boundless universes beyond our comprehension.

Stories are what stitches the disparate elements of human existence into an interconnecting, continuously overlapping record of Humanity that never ends so long as Mankind continues to exist.

But they, like their creators themselves, their hopelessly romantic hearts and sentimental dreams, are also fragile in nature, especially of spoken words, composed of sounds and abstract ideas that vanish without trace and forgotten as soon as they have been said.

It is only natural then that people are compelled to write their thoughts down.

Maybe it was the fear of being forgotten that compelled them to.

Most stories can, and have, outlast the storytellers, and in rare instances even the places of origin.

Through the welkins I take note of the lives of the people within the multiverse. Most are doomed to repeat the very tragedies they have been desperately trying to avoid. Though it is not my place to express sympathy, I can't help but see a pattern somewhere.

Or maybe the Creator is toying with my mind, as always.

She is quite sadistic, playing God as she toys with what she calls her "creations" she had given life to.

All for her amusement, dancing a string around us, making all these silly rules. See how she looks down on us like we're acting out a show, and if she is bored, well...

Despite the limitations, as the Storyteller, I am allowed to do certain things. And that is to warn you, the readers.

Even as you read my story, be aware that the story doesn’t remain the same for every retelling. Sometimes, the storyteller adds or removes details; by doing so, it potentially skews the narrative to favor the storyteller. And that in turn changes the way it’s told and remembered.

So be very careful not only in your reiteration but in you remembering it.

You may not have been aware of this, but more often than you realize it, the world, as you see, is shaped by two things:

The way stories are told and the memories they leave behind.

So don't believe the things you hear from anyone.

Not even me, the Storyteller...

...but especially not the words of the Creator.

"Life is tragic simply because the earth turns and the sun inexorably rises and sets, and one day, for each of us, the sun will go down for the last, last time. Perhaps the whole root of our trouble, the human trouble, is that we will sacrifice all the beauty of our lives, will imprison ourselves in totems, taboos, crosses, blood sacrifices, steeples, mosques, races, armies, flags, nations, in order to deny the fact of death, the only fact we have.”

Foreword

Creator's Message

Hello, this is the Creator, Loreleia

Forgive me for my late introduction.

It seems that the Storyteller is misinterpreting my intentions.

I believe that there is one story in the world, and only one, and that is in which we are all characters with our own lives interwoven into this great and complex narrative that continues to evolve. . . . that is the Story of Life.

I am no god, nor do I "play God" as the Storyteller puts it, rather I am also a mere speck in this universe beyond anyone's imagination. And so is everyone else. We all play a predestinated role in this grand and intricate play that is Life, whether we want to or not.

But I am not as cruel nor as capricious as the Storyteller portrays me.

The Paradise I created for them, they have all chosen to leave. Truly this situation is entirely regretful.

But sometimes, trying to set right what once went wrong ironically is what set everything wrong in the first place.

It is quite unfortunate really, but ultimately it is the way things have ended, as you shall see why.

So, where shall we begin?

This presentation is very original, I like graphic projects of this kind.
Concerning the background image, you could work on it by fading all the edges (you have to duplicate the x9 image). That way, you wouldn't have the break lines making squares.

Ok, now that is an opening to a story! Captivating, intriguing, and makes a reader wish to continue!

I look forward to even more and to see what happens and who to believe.
