They said a gaze is all it takes. It’s said that one look in each other’s soul can guarantee the connection between two DNAs for the bond to be awoken. It was centuries old myth yet all the elders believed in it with their entire heart
nevertheless same could not be said about the one that suffered at the hands of fate. The Elder had said it was bound to come
no body was born without their better half. The connection has been there in their previous lives thus it’s inevitable that mates find each other in every lifecycle of theirs
 it’s in their DNA
they would find each other no matter what

“Jungkook?” A small shrill voice sounded near the black haired man that sat in the shallow part of River Shum’s periwinkle twinkling water with his legs folded under him. The black haired man’s round eyes flashed open to find the darkening shadows around him
his dark brown orbs dilated with a ring of pale gold creating a boundary around his dark iris as his eyes adjusted to his surroundings.

“Yes, Mother?” The man named Jungkook asked back politely but didn’t turn his head to look at the woman he could feel standing at the bank of the river.

“The Sun has sat down,” The woman informed in a solemn tone, her effort to keep strain out of her voice was not amiss on the man. “The Elder said you needed to pray from Sun rise to Sun down.”

“Of course,” Jungkook replied in a hard tone before he quickly rose out of the twinkling water, desperate to change his wet under garments with some dry pieces of clothes. Of course he would admit it was not as uncomfortable to sit in the magical water of River Shum as in normal water but still he wanted nothing better than this ordeal to come to an end. This all would prove itself as useless task anyways. He has already passed such shenanigans more than a couple of times by now. They never work in any case.

“I shall wait by the horses while you change,” The woman mumbled while passing finest handmade robes with Lexian Clan’s official crust engraved on its back, when Jungkook stepped out of the sparkling water. The woman watched the swirling colorful water with awed eyes afore muttering under her breath while she moved away, “This better work.”

Jungkook didn’t have a heart to tell his mother that she shouldn’t get her hopes up. It has already been four years since Jungkook had come of age. Four years since his mother been waiting for that fine day when the only heir to Lexian Clan’s Head Alpha position be mated and carry on with their heritage line. Four years since Jungkook had been forced to meet eyes with every single Omega in their near vicinity, in hope that one of theirs DNA would awaken the slumbering mate part of Jungkook’s inner Alpha spirit, in order to make him stronger than he already was.

But all these four years have been nothing but big disappointment for the Lexian Clan.

Jungkook originally was an optimistic person. Giving his parents, as well as himself, hope that he would meet his mate soon enough. He believed he just has not connected gaze with that certain someone
maybe they have crossed paths on number of occasions but just failed to meet each other’s eyes. Jungkook has a shy personality so it won’t come as a surprise if this certain scenario has followed, unknown to him.

But all those positive thoughts had come to a skidding halt when the Head Alpha of Lexian Clan- one of the biggest Clan living in the southern area- has announced, or more like demanded, for smaller Clan’s to present each and every Omega on Jungkook’s twenty first birthday party, to Lexian’s Castle. Then Jungkook had been forced to stare in each sparkling eye of all those 1000 Omegas
however none of them made his heart skip a beat or the vein in his neck to drum against his skin or a bust of millions of flustering nerves burning his whole body
like most people define the pull of mate. The fact was, Lexian Clan has travelled around their area quite far in distance and they practically rule over the smaller Clans in this continent and seeing how every Clan had sent bulks of their Omega at the call of Head Alpha of Lexian Clan showed how Jungkook’s mate was not present in any of these Clans. That night Jungkook had admitted to himself that the myth was nothing but a myth
it’s not necessary for every werewolf to have a destined mate for him
Jungkook would have to live mate-less for the rest of his life.

Convincing oneself that they were fated to live alone was one thing but trying to explain the similar fact to his mother was another, Jungkook came to learn a little of six months ago, when his mother had taken upon herself to magically find Jungkook’s mate on any part of Earth’s surface. In order to keep his mother happy, Jungkook had spent several nights in the heart of Black Forest
praying to Lord only knows who. He must have taken bath in every sacred River anyone has ever mentioned in front of his mother. Even now, after accomplishing one day and one night trip on horseback to Shum Forest, near Simi Clan’s area, Jungkook and his mother has travelled just so the poor man can sit in the magical water from dawn till dusk while keeping a fast. Jungkook couldn’t help but roll his eyes at this stupid plan when his personal adviser ‘The Elder’ had told his mother.

The Elder was an ageing man with great wisdom. Jungkook respected him since the old man had always been young Alpha’s mentor. He had played a vital role in creating the Alpha Jungkook that he was today. Not only had he learned things from the Elder but also became a great warrior with the ageing man teaching him tricks of centuries. Yet, the black haired man couldn’t help but despise his mentor for coming up with weird and stupid ‘praying’ ideas for sake of Jungkook’s mate less life.

Jungkook sighed as he tied the robe around his muscular body before treading toward the thick trees were his and his mother’s horses were tied. His mother already had the horses saddled and ready to be mounted. Jungkook watched the strong and powerful woman he had called his mother all his life. She was probably the strongest Omega Jungkook had ever seen. Considering how normally Omega’s are treated with utmost care and love like they were too fragile to even breath on their own- like Jungkook’s elder, and only, bother Seokjin. Seokjin was treated so preciously in comparison to Jungkook who had been out on the training field since he was seven. It was a known fact that Omega’s can’t be successor for the Head Alpha position so naturally Jungkook was considered the only heir to that title
yet he couldn’t help but wondered what if his Omega, his mate, was more like his mother; strong willed, powerful and having a mind of their own. But now he only wondered what it would feel like to have a mate at all.

“Ready?” The woman asked, breaking her son from his deep thoughts, as she mounted on her pearly white horse.

“Yes,” Jungkook nodded before patting his bronze horse’s mane in a loving manner. “We need to return at faster speed than before. I have a feeling father needs me home.”

The woman, sitting with a proud and straight back, slanted her dark eyes as her gaze swept over Jungkook’s face
something akin to soft relief reflecting in his dark brown iris.

“I have a feeling something good would happen after this,” The woman whispered while Jungkook straddled on his own horse.

“I doubt it, Mother,” Jungkook grumbled before urging his horse to run at the speed of lightening.

O-o-o-o-O

“General Jungkook,” A guard shouted as soon as the called out man and his mother’s horses drew near the humungous grey castle sitting in the wildest and thickest Forest of Southern land. “You are back!”

“What is it, Nelo?” Jungkook shouted in concern before he tightened the rein on the horse to make it stop at the mouth of the Castle gate. “Is something the matter?”

“Yes,” The guard hurried with his reply. “The Axon Clan has been acting up and the Head Alpha has given order for a warrior batch to be dispatched immediately. They are only waiting for you, General.”

Jungkook turned his head to share a knowing look with his mother’s wide blown eyes, “I told you I had a feeling.” Then turning his face toward the waiting guards the Alpha gestured for the gates to be opened. He urged his horse to gallop toward the training area rather than the main castle itself.

Jungkook found the warriors werewolves standing around the Head Alpha and silently taking orders from the elder man as soon as he rounded a corner of vast land that was used for training a werewolf’s inner wolf spirit and outer human body, altogether. They were not only taught to fight in their wolf form but also to be best sword or spare fighters because fighting in wolf-form was considered their last retort in a grave war, if it ever came to be that.

“Father?” Ju
