Prologue | The meeting

The first time Yuqi met him was the day of college orientation. She was making friend with Kim Yerim, a short girl like her, talking to her about growing up in China when the boy next to her heard them. One minute, she was talking to Yerim, the next, she was introduced to Wong Yukhei. 

"You are both Chinese! Boom instant friends!"

How could she told the cute boy (she would learn later that Lee Mark, was a pain in the but also a great friend) who was talking to her that China didn't have one language but a multitude of it. Apparently, she could speak to the tall guy in Korean, but people around her seemed to expect they would instantly have a conversation in their native language. 

"Hi, my name is Song Yuqi." Because she came from Beijing, Yuqi only knew Mandarin. She didn't predict the tall guy would answer her with a huge grin in Cantonese. She instantly recognized it, but because she never learned it, Yuqi couldn't understand what he said. 

"What" was the only thing coming from . 

With a smirk, he switched instantly in another language. Was it Thai? She couldn't tell, and it made her infuriate. Was he laughing at her? 

She ended in the same group as him (with Yerim and Mark) for the team building. She heard him for the first time, talking Korean which was almost perfect but every time he had to speak to her, it was in Cantonese. Yuqi promised herself, looking at him with evil eyes, it would be the first and only time Wong Yukhei would laugh at her.

And six months later, she broke her promise.
