Athena stays frozen as the boy in front of her tilts his head, puzzled. Footsteps move toward the two until another person appears beside the boy.

"Felix, who's at the door?" The lady asks in English, glancing first at Felix and then at Athena.

Finally, back to her senses, Athena smiles awkwardly. "Hi! I'm Athena Chang. My family and I live across the street and we just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood." Hands shaking, Athena holds out the rice cakes.

"That's so sweet of you! Thank you," the lady responds, this time in Korean. "I'm Lee Yong-Sun, and this is my son, Felix."

"Nice to meet you," he says with a smile.

Athena simply nods, worried she might embarrass herself more than before if she utters a word.

"Athena, why don't you come in and I'll get you a little snack and drink while we wait for your parents?" Yong-Sun suggests.

"Oh, you don't have to Miss," Athena says quickly but Yong-Sun just shakes her head.

"It's really no problem dear. Come on now."

She lightly latches her hand around Athena's wrist, pulling the girl into their home.
