A little girl chasing a shadow in front of her while crying. The shadow that started to faded make her panicked and run with all her might. When she nears the person she chased, with her small hands, she grabs hard that person sleeves.

“Don’t go!!!! Don’t go!!! Don’t leave us behind!!! Please, I’m begging you!!!”

Cried the little girl while squeeze hard the boy’s hand. The boy turned his head and shook his head. He tightened his grip on his bag and trembling. He felt guilty seeing his strong little sister cried like that, which is never ever been seen before.

“No, Haenul ah, I have to go….. I need to show those bastards that we’re not useless or cursed……. I want dad to feel regret for leaving us when I’m become successful…….”

Say the boy, while turning his body because he don’t want to see those tears that pouring like a rain on the little girl’s cheeks.

“Is that’s the most important things to you? Pride? Revenge? ……….. What about mommy? Me? Our dream that we share together??”

The girl voice starts to softened because she tried hard to stop crying.

The boy started to shed tears hearing those deep words from 9 years old girl who got matured too fast due to their hard life. He stared directly to his sister’s blue eyes that claimed to be ominous to the villagers. Sometime even he got uneasy feeling when her sister stared him with those eyes.

Minho kneels down and holds his sister’s cold hands. He stared at her eyes and wiped the tears that wet the chubby cheeks.

“I promise Haneul ah~~~I swear I’ll be back once I become successful, I’ll make sure mom and you live in luxury……….I’ll show the villagers that we are not cursed, you are not ominous and mom is not crazy like they chanting to us every day…….. Please wait for me……… I’ll be back…………”

Reply the boy with determined eyes.

Upon listening that, Haneul wiped her tears and stopped crying. She stared back at her brother and kept silent. Suddenly she holds Minho’s cheeks.

“You promised me…………. I’ll take care of mommy and wait for you~~~~~don’t you dare or ever forget about us and proved that those villagers are indeed wrong about us……Do it big brother!!! I believe in you………but promise me~~~~you will come back to us……to me and mommy~~~~”

The little girl started to smile faintly and hug her brother tightly. Haneul only has a sick mother and a big brother, and now she have to let her brother go. When she let go of her brother, she put her left hand in the pocket and takes out something.

“Take this…….. I made it for you and don’t forget to wear it always………”

She shows what’s in her hand. It’s a handmade bracelet with a black beads and a sun-shape charm that she make it herself.

“What is this?”

“It’s a charm bracelet I made………I make you a sun-shape charm, Mommy a star-shape and I’m a moon-shape……… which means we are connected under one sky~~~~~~HANEUL~~~~always~~~”

Say the little sister and showed the bracelet that she wearing on her right wrist. It was identical with her brother but with a crescent moon-shape charm.

Minho smiled and wears it on his left wrist.

“Thanks sis, I’ll wear it all the time……..”

He then lean down and kiss his sister forehead with so much love. He stands straight and pulls his bags and ruffled his sister’s soft hair. Haneul smiled and wishes him good luck on his journey and reminded him to be healthy and happy where ever he headed to accomplish his dream. The girl stand there in cold weather until his shadow faded and lost in her sight. She smile bitterly and headed home to her mom.

She promised to her big brother that she will take care of their mother and patiently wait for his return or any news.
