Yerin hurried out of her house, throwing her jacket around her waist as she hurried about, she was late for school. Waiting at the crosswalk for the cars to stop at the stop signs, she was about to bolt across at her chance when a sleek black car stopped in front of her on the crosswalk, scaring the living daylights out of her.

“Yah! I could’ve died!”

The window rolled down and Yerin sighed as she saw SinB with her ever present perfect smile. Hearing the car doors unlock even though SinB didn’t move, Yerin could only shake her head and get in.

“What is this? Your new toy?”

SinB turned around to look at her, observing her state of dress, the messiness of the way her hair sat on her head. Yerin self-consciously brushed her hand through her hair in an attempt to make it more presentable.

“This is my friend, Sowon unnie’s new car.”

“Huh? Sowon unnie’s new car? But then where is sh-“

The screen on the middle of the dash lit up with an incoming call, automatically answering it with a blink, SinB didn’t pay any attention to the call, focused on watching Yerin.

“YAH! YOU TOOK MY CAR!”

“Your car is my friend, it came willingly.”

Yerin chuckled as Sowon yelled at SinB over the phone, patted the robot on the shoulder, she urged her to start the car again. She was still, late for school.

“Remember, no one can see you at school, since you share Eunbi’s face.”

SinB looked down for a split second before looking back at Yerin, pulling her closer. Yerin watched carefully but let the robot do as she pleased.

“I saw that this is a thing to do.”

Kissing Yerin on the temple softly, SinB pulled back with a grin.

“Have a good day at school.”

Yerin blushed and tugged her shirt around her collar, unlocking the door, she got out quickly.

“S-see you.”

Hearing the window roll down, Yerin turned around to reprimand her, since someone could see, only to have her arm grabbed. Pulled back towards the car, Yerin let SinB’s hand slide down to her hand, holding it gently. Enjoying the artificial warmth generated by SinB, Yerin waited for the other.

“What is it now?”

“I was just checking your heartrate. Online it says that when a lover kisses the other goodbye, it makes their heart race, but not when they’re married. I wonder why? Your heartrate by the way is-“

Yerin clapped her hand over SinB’s mouth hurriedly, she did not need to hear the exact number to know that her heart was beating twice as fast.

“Geez! I’m going to class!”

Leaving quickly, Yerin dashed off to her class. SinB smiled and rolled the window back up, she waited in the parking lot, several more dramas pulled up inside her head to research. Hearing a knocking on her window, SinB looked up and smiled.

Unlocking the door, SinB greeted Sowon as the human clambered into the back of the car.

“Yah, who said you could take my car whenever you wanted?”

“Hm? It’s my friend.”

She rubbed the wheel carefully as Sowon sighed.

“It may be your friend, but it’s my car.”

Pinching the bridge of her, puffing a soft sigh as she figured how to word her worries. SinB held Sowon’s hand quickly, checking her stats.

“You’re stressed, you need to take a break. Sleeping for seventeen hours should return you to healthy levels.”

“Seventeen? I think I need more, SinB ah, Eunbi knows that you exist.”

SinB blinked, Sowon didn’t lie, she was still holding the human’s hand.

“How? I’ve been good.”

“It’s called, Eunbi found your mom’s files in her computer when she was borrowing it. Why your mother let her touch that computer confuses me greatly. For now, we’ve told her that you were destroyed, it’s the truth, you were. But I refuse to let her know that you are here.”

SinB nodded her head, so she hadn’t shown her face to anyone but Yerin. Contemplating it for a second, SinB stayed unblinking.

“Hello? Are you processing something?”

“Why should I hide?”

Sowon looked at her bewildered.

“Imagine seeing someone with your face that’s perfect in every aspect.”

“I cannot imagine.”

Frustrated, Sowon grumbled as she tried to explain emotions. How would she convey to the robot, inferiority? Replacement? Fear?

“Either way, from what I know of Eunbi, she’ll be excited to meet you at first, but then she might start to get jealous after learning of your abilities.”

“I was made to help her, not to challenge her.”

“My point exactly, but humans are complicated.”

This intrigued the robot, humans are complicated. An example of how complicated it could be was right there, Hwang Eunbi. But they were not allowed to meet. SinB sat back in her seat as Sowon excused herself to go care for the human Eunbi. Pulling up the dramas to watch, she monitored them distractedly.

Yerin hummed as she packed her stuff, throwing everything in her back haphazardly, she managed to get the zipper to close before she trudged out.

“Jung Yerin.”

Frowning, Yerin turned around to Eunbi.

“Yah, I’m still older than you, address me properly.”

Eunbi gave her an uninterested stare. Grabbing her own bag and standing up, Eunbi gave Yerin ac cold glare.

“I still don’t understand how you ended up working with Sowon unnie.”

“And how many times do I have to say, I randomly happened to by your seatmate? Please keep your narcissistic opinions to yourself.”

Turning around to leave once more, Yerin halted when she heard a familiar name.

“SinB.”

Eunbi walked in front of her, looking up at her with a harsh glare that could intimidate almost everyone. It sent shivers down Yerin’s back, but she wasn’t threatened.

“You do know that name. You’ve met it, haven’t you?”

Yerin looked away, spotting Eunha watching from a distance. Signaling with her eyes that she needs saving, she cursed internally as Eunha just kept watching obliviously.

“Eunbi, let’s get you home.”

Sowon appeared, her hand on Eunbi’s shoulder.

“You have a doctor’s appointment today, we should head back with haste.”

Yerin relaxed a little, letting out a small breath she had been holding. Hurrying to Eunha’s side, she linked arms with her best friend.

“Yah, couldn’t you save me?”

“Save you? From what?”

Shaking her head, Yerin hoped that Eunbi wouldn’t ask her about SinB anymore. Walking out to the carpark, Yerin hugged Eunha goodbye before trudging to the furthest bit of the lot. Spotting Sowon’s black car still there, she brightened a little, hurrying there.

“SinB yah.”

The door unlocked and Yerin yelped as SinB pulled her into her lap in the back seat. Pulling the door closed, SinB looked at Yerin with a smile.

“My friend, take us to Yerin’s home.”

Yerin watched amusedly as the car whirred to life and started on the route to her house. If only the automatic driving programmers could see this. SinB was all they could only dream of achieving.

“Is it safe to let it drive itself?”

“It’s fine, I’m guiding it in here.”

SinB tapped the side of her head. Yerin smiled and hugged SinB warmly, the robot returning the gesture easily.

“You’ve gotten better at hugs.”

“I’ve always been giving the same hug though?”

“No, at the beginning, when you first hugged me because I was crying, it was a little stiff. I feel like you’ve gotten softer.”

Yerin playfully squished SinB’s cheeks, pinching them and stretching them sideways. SinB just let her do whatever she wanted, it wasn’t as if she could feel pain, nor was Yerin strong enough to damage her face.

“I want to go on a date.”

“What kind of date, SinB?”

“The kind I saw in an anime, one at an amusement park.”

“Then we should go next weekend.”

It was rare that SinB ever had any wants, in fact she could argue that her ‘wants’ were just her testing theories out, but she kept quiet about that after Yerin scolded her.

“You’re becoming more and more human.”

“Am I?”

“I mean, you’re already better than all humans, you don’t hurt others. I guess, maybe it’s just me, or maybe you’re going to argue that your programming has evolved to generate responses, but you act more and more like you have emotions.”

SinB blinked at the prospect. The car slowed to a stop on Yerin’s driveway. Carrying Yerin out of the car easily, they went inside together, Sowon’s car started to drive back to Sowon’s place.

Once in the safety of her room, Yerin locked the door so that no one could barge in on her alone time with SinB, also in case anyone walked in on something they didn’t need to know. Her parents were getting increasingly suspicious of SinB.

“Well, you won’t be worrying about it, seeing as worry doesn’t exist to you.”

“True.”

SinB sat on the floor in her usual spot, next to Yerin’s bed. Yerin took a seat on her bed, looking at SinB carefully. Reaching to touch her face, Yerin caressed SinB’s cheek lovingly.

“Was there anything else you wanted to do?”

“Nothing in particular.”

Sighing, Yerin flopped backwards on her bed, relaxing. SinB smiled as Yerin whined about her shirt lifting in the action and exposing her stomach to the cold air. Reaching to fix the human’s shirt, SinB noticed something as she made contact with Yerin’s skin.

“You’re….sad?”

Yerin hurriedly pulled away from SinB’s touch, shaking her head.

“I’m not sad.”

“You’re lying.”

“I’m not sad.”

SinB remained still as Yerin kept her distance, backing off, SinB closed her eyes, making Yerin worried.

“What are you doing?”

“Giving you space. I read that people sometimes need to be alone.”

“Like when I told you not to hug anyone that cries, only hug people that want to be consoled.”

SinB nodded, still keeping her eyes closed. She could still hear Yerin rustling around on the bed.

“Yerin unnie?”

“Yea?”

“Someone is coming up the stairs, two people.”

“Hm? Must be my mom. She’ll knock first anyways.”

True to Yerin’s guess, two firm knocks sounded on her door. Getting up but not quite opening it just yet, she answered her mother.

“What is it mum?”

“You have a guest.”

“Huh? Who?”

Opening the door, Yerin froze as she made eye contact with Eunbi.

“She said she’s SinB’s twin, I couldn’t even tell the difference honestly. Here, let’s compare them side to side.”

Yerin held the door tightly, not letting her mother enter, she held a staring contest with Eunbi. They were having a silent battle.
