88 ways to say I love you

“Hey, you.”

Jongin looked up at the sound of a strong bold voice. In front of him, was Zhang Yixing, the school’s bad boy, with a biker jacket with his hair ruffled from the sides and poking upward. In one hand, he held a motorcycle helmet and the other he stuffed in his pocket. Just by looking at the boy, Jongin couldn’t help but feel nervous. “Y-Yes?” he tried to answer in strong voice but came out as a squeak.

Yixing lifted his helmet and used it as a pointer to indicate the chair. “Is someone using this?” he asked, tilting his head to the side as he got a good look at Jongin.

For a moment, Jongin just looked at the chair before shaking his head. “No… No!” he answered before leaning forward to push all his things closer to himself. “Y-You can use it.” he added quietly, lowering his head. Jongin looked at his book, hoping Yixing would just sit and leave him alone, but the other didn’t move.

At first, Jongin thought Yixing didn’t hear him, so he was going to say it again. However, when he looked up he met with the other’s eyes. He blushed darkly as he locked eyes with those dark black orbs of Yixing’s. “Y-You can use the chair.” he said quietly again.

“Yeah, I heard you.” Yixing  responded, shifting himself on his other leg. His head tilted back as he did so, before smirking. “You know… You’re pretty cute.” he complimented.

Furious shades of red flushed Jongin’s face as he covered his cheeks. “C-Cute?” he whispered. He quickly hid himself behind his stack of books to avoid the smirk of the cute boy in front of him. For the first time, his heart was racing at an abnormal speed. There were times people would tell him he was cute, however that was just his family. Kids at school? Just ignored him as he hid in the library.

Yixing sat down on the chair as he pushed the stack of books to see Jongin’s face. “You sound so surprise. I’m sure you get hit on a lot by girls… or guys…” he smirked as his tone took a dip on the word ‘guys’.

Jongin tensed up, flushing. “N-No… I don’t exactly meet up to the standards to other people’s ideal types.” he confessed. He looked up to see Yixing’s surprised look. “Why are you surprised? I’m sure you seen other better looking guys.” he muttered.

“Me? Ha! I wish.” Yixing snorted, as he set his helmet on the table. He stayed quiet for a bit, just relaxing against his chair.

Things were quiet. None of the two said a word. Yixing just sat there with his motorcycle helmet as Jongin tried to focus on his books. Around them, kids were studying or reading books. Some whispering, some just keeping to themselves like the two here.

"So what's your name?" Yixing asked, breaking the silence.

Jongin looked up to meet Yixing's eyes. He opened his mouth a bit to answer but didn't say anything. Red rushed to his cheeks as he realized something. Yixing was probably the only person in this school to actually ask his name. Everyone else just ignored him, leaving him in the shadows.

"Jongin. Kim Jongin."

"Hey."

Jongin buried his head deeper in his books as he heard the familiar voice. He bit his lower lip, shutting his eyes tightly as possible. 'Go away, go away, go away!' his thoughts screamed as his heart raced. He didn't hear anything else as he tried his best to hide himself from Yixing. Just as he was about to open his eyes, Jongin's book was slapped out of his hands. "H-Hey!" he cried, looking up to meet with Yixing's scowl.

"I was talking to you." Yixing snapped, shifting his weight on his right leg. He pointed accusingly at Jongin. "But your didn't answer." he snorted as he looked away for a bit before looking at Jongin again. "Why are you avoiding me lately?" he asked.

The shy boy didn't say anything as he looked at his fingers. It wasn't Yixing he was avoiding. He was avoiding something else. His feelings. Ever since Yixing openly told Jongin how cute he was, Jongin couldn't help but keep an eye on him. In class, he would find himself looking over his shoulder to see Yixing's head on the desk, resting well. At lunch, he would glance over at Yixing's loud table, where they joked and poked fun at the people who walked by. It was little things like these that made his feelings become worse and worse.

One time, Yixing caught Jongin looking. When the two shared eye contact, Jongin quickly broke it to leave. It freaked Jongin the hell out. What if the older one thought he was weird, or creepy for peeking over? Thoughts swarmed Jongin's head as he got up to leave, picking his tray and pushing forward his glasses. However, Yixing blocked him playfully, telling him not to leave him alone with his dorkish friends. Then he offered Jongin to sit next to him, be his little buddy. The offer ed Jongin's feelings over.

From that day on, Jongin practically latched himself onto Yixing. He would open himself up to Yixing when they were alone, telling him his struggles and worries. Yixing would listen and comment after he was done talking. That was what Jongin loved about Yixing. How Yixing would listen, and watch you, not losing sight of you as if he was afriad you would disappear.

Jongin was falling in love with Yixing. He didn't want to. He found himself looking for Yixing the moment he walked in school, being happy to start the day. When he did find Yixing, he would tell the other 'Good morning, did you sleep well' and be the dork he was. It ed Jongin over. Soon as he realized he was falling in love, he quickly tried to deatach himself from those feelings. He would run away if he saw Yixing down the hall, other times pretend he was calling his father.

Slowly he was wrapping himself in his insecurities. Thoughts whispered in his ears, demanding why he would think Yixing would even like him. They hissed tell him how ing stupid he was, and how unfit he was. They laughed as they choked him with remarks of how sinful it was for him to like such a man... How sinful he was...

"I'm just busy..." Jongin whispered, not looking up to see the scowl that was before him. He listened as Yixing only scoffed, possibly running a hand through his hair as if he was ready to slap the out of Jongin. "Why are you so concerned? Your other friends are probably wondering where you are right now." he said quietly, as he looked over at his fallen book. He reached over to grab it.

However, a small kick pushed the book further. Jongin looked up to see Yixing scowling behind. The other must've walked over once he realized what Jongin was going to do. Jongin blushed as he gulped nervously. Trying to be brave, he stood up to walk over near the book to pick it up, but Yixing only followed. "Why are you doing this?" Jongin whispered as he didn't even bothered to pick the book up.

Yixing tilted his head slowly as if questioning Jongin. "Why? I can't?" he rose an eyebrow. A dark look came over his features as he stepped up to Jongin, who only backed up to keep a distance. "What are you going to do? Hm? Hit me?" he taunted, his teeth baring down on each other.

Jongin trembled as he looked around to see no kids around. Just his luck. Right when he was in need of help, no one was around. "N-No... P-Please Yixing. Stop this." he whimpered, as he looked at Yixing.

For a moment the other softened, his neck blossoming pink. Yet, his dark look overcame it. "Why should I? Are you going to tell me why you've been avoiding me?" he demanded.

"I-I didn't want to avoid you...!" Jongin cried, as he stomped his foot in fustration. He stopped backing up as he could feel hot tears filling his vision up. Even with his blurry vision, he could see the worried look on Yixing's face. "I-I wanted to hang out with you but it's so hard to! Y-You're so c-c-cool and I'm just s-s-s-o uncool," he sniffled, as he brought his hands to cover his face. "I-I h-hate that when I hang out with you, I-I can be myself. Y-You don't judge me, you l-listen to me, y-you talk to me, y-you make me feel so warm! S-So I hate knowing in the end I-I can't have you b-because you already have so many options! S-So what makes me so speacial to have you?"

The only thing that answered was Jongin's crying and sniffling. Not a sound from Yixing. He was just listening and possibly watching. Just like he always does. When he did speak, Jongin's heart dropped.

"Have me?" Yixing's voice took a dip, sounding out as if he was confused. "Do you like me?" he asked.

Jongin didn't answer as he brought his hands down. He looked to see Yixing's pink face. He blushed as well, before looking away. "I-I didn't... I m-mean..." he stammered, trying to explain what he said. He sniffled, before nodding sadly. "I tried my best not to... I-I really tried...!"

Yixing slowly smiled. He slowly walked closer to Jongin. "... You must really like me to cry this hard." he muttered, as he wiped under Jongin's eyes. He smiled shyly, as he shared eye contact with the crying boy. "At least you don't hate me. I don't think I would've survived that." he confessed. He blushed, looking down, keeping his smile. "I like you as well, Jongin."

Something in Jongin fluttered at the sound of that. It was happy to know Yixing shared the same feeling, but something wasn't right. Why would Yixing like him? He was lanky, he wore glasses and he didn't dress nicely. "Why?" he whispered, as he watched Yixing look up.

"Why?" Yixing smirked, nearly snorting. "Because you are practically untouchable... I like that." He blushed as his smirk fell. "Oh jeez, that's so corny." he muttered, covering his mouth. He ran his hand through his hair, trying to avoid Jongin's eyes. "I-I just feel like I have to be careful with you... Like you're glass."

A small laugh came out of Jongin. He smiled shyly, as he watched Yixing's embarassed look. Slowly, his smile became his frown. "I... I have some flaws just so you know... I have many doubts," Jongin's hands played with themselves, "Maybe I can overthink things, or maybe be-"

"All that I know." a soft hand took Jongin's and gently held it. "But I can fix that." Yixing whispered. He watched as Jongin look at him, a bit skeptical. He grinned. "Let me be your boyfriend and give me that chance to show you just how much I love you." he said as he gently kissed Jongin's hand, his eyes never leaving Jongin's.

Jongin didn't say anything as he watched. He felt a warm feeling warp itself around him as he looked in Yixing's dark wonderful eyes. It was screaming for him to say yes. It was begging Jongin to let this man change his thoughts, to let this man release the real Jongin, to let this man love him in many ways than one.

"Yes." Jongin whispered.
