Summary: In which Kim Taeyeon claims she is beyond magical, and can grant Kwon Yuri three wishes.

In truth, when Kim Taeyeon says, “I am magical,”, she’s not lying.

Even before figuring out she really did have magic powers, and after getting over the fact that she wasn’t a freak and she was normal, Taeyeon had a fascination with magic. Fairies, mermaids, sirens, and even the fictional witches she would one day be able to call herself apart of.

Like most magic folk, Taeyeon was ten years old when she found out she was magical. Of course, she had had small run ins with her magic, such as wishing and hoping for something and having it become a reality.

Taeyeon was a special, rare kind of witch- a genie if you will. Unlike other witches, she didn’t have a wand, and couldn’t cast any spell known to magic kind.

Instead, she granted wishes, even those of her own, and had learned how to twist things into wishes to make her magic work.

Taeyeon could do virtually anything, and being a rare sort of witch, many looked up to her.

However, she kept it hidden as much as possible, and opted to use her magic for small, little good (albeit mainly selfish) deeds.

Wishing for a good mark on a test.

Wishing for something she wanted to be gifted to her.

Wishing for a day off when she didn’t feel well so she wouldn’t miss anything.

But, with this sort of power came grave potential danger- Taeyeon had to choose her words carefully, as a single complaint like “I wish I was never born,” when she simply didn’t want to do her science homework was something that could cause a lot of trouble for a lot of people.

Her small promise to use her magic for small things, and to never stand out and rather blend in, was soon shattered when she met Kwon Yuri.

The only girl to match the looks of Kim Taeyeon, the only girl to match the intelligence of Kim Taeyeon, the only girl to match the personality and popularity of Kim Taeyeon.

Even without her magic, everyone bowed down to the one and only Kim Taeyeon. She was like a modern day Heather Chandler, Regina George, Elle Woods, and Cher Horowitz, all rolled up into one. Kim Walker, Jessica Keenan-Wynn, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Louderman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Bell Bundy, and Alicia Silverstone all used Kim Taeyeon as their muses.

It was up to Taeyeon herself to confront Yuri. The girl who seemingly blended in with her, the girl who seemingly belonged with and to her.

“Kwon Yuri, right?” Taeyeon posed one afternoon at lunch, sliding into the spot next to the girl.

Yuri jumped a moment at Taeyeon’s sudden presence, and then relaxed. “Yeah.”

“Taeyeon. Kim Taeyeon.” Taeyeon reached over, sticking her hand out in a friendly, welcoming gesture.

“Nice to meet you,” Yuri muttered, sounding unsure of herself. “You’re the famed Wish Witch here, aren’t you?”

Taeyeon laughed at that. “I wouldn’t quite say famed. But yes, I am. Would you like me to show you?”

Yuri’s face lit up, excitement and interest flickering across her face. “Please!”

“I’ll give you three wishes, as per custom,” Taeyeon began. “You can wish for anything, but I can’t kill people, bring people back, make people fall in love, and I can’t change nor make you magic.”

Although Taeyeon witch type was a rare one, she had studied hard, and quickly learned everything there was to know about her historic bloodline.

Her four rules were put in place due to restrictions of her magic (she really couldn’t make people magic), and things she was taught to have horrible consequences (like bringing people back from the dead. She opted to leave the whole ‘life and death’ situations for the Fate Witches).

“Can I wish for more wishes?” Yuri asked, and Taeyeon knew she was only asking because that was a stereotypical genie rule. Taeyeon was a genie /witch/, not an actual genie. There was a difference. Genies were way more stuck-up and fickle.

“I guess,” Taeyeon shrugged. “Let’s start with the three for now, though. I can perhaps grant you more afterwards, so don’t waste a wish on that.”

“Okay,” Yuri turned Taeyeon’s proposal over, wanting to choose her three wishes carefully. “I want a car.”

“A car?”

“Wait, no. I can’t drive yet. I want a motorcycle. A Harley.”

“Don’t you need a license for that as well?”

“Can I wish for a license as well? Does that count as a second wish?”

“I can make it count as one. Just say ‘I wish’.”

“I wish.”

Taeyeon laughed. “I wish...and then what you wish for.”

“I wish for a Harley and a motorcycle license.”

Taeyeon closed her eyes, concentrating, focusing her energy on one point and one point only, willing the world around her to bend to her will.

She opened her eyes, and released he breath she was holding. “You can find it by the bike racks.” she said softly.

“Really?”

“Go check.” Taeyeon nodded in her direction, and leaving her things, Yuri scrambles out of her seat, dashing outside.

A few moments later, Yuri came skidding back into the cafeteria, waving a card in her hand.

“Holy Christ!” Yuri exclaimed. “It worked!”

“Of course it did,” Taeyeon laughed, standing up. “Want another wish? Or want to save it for later?”

“Later, later,” Yuri assured. “I don’t want to waste them.”

With that, Taeyeon closed her eyes, concentrating, focusing her energy on one point and one point only, willing the world around her to bend to her will.

She opened her eyes, and released the breath she was holding. She left the cafeteria, knowing her and Yuri’s things were put away nicely.

“Kim Taeyeon!” Kwon Yuri shouted across campus, perched on her new motorcycle, one helmet strapped to her head and the other tucked under her arm. “Need a ride?”

The source of Taeyeon’s wish granting was selfish, a way to prove she was better than Yuri, and she took joy in the fact that Yuri had now taken a liking to her. Like Gretchen Weiners and Heather Duke, Miss Taeyeon now had a loyal little follower. Someone with equal status as her, but not as pretty, not as smart, not as great, not as popular, but still prettier than everyone else, smarter than everyone else, greater and more popular than everyone else.

Happily, Taeyeon slipping the extra helmet from Yuri’s grasp, sliding it over her head as she positioned herself on the back on Yuri’s new bike, looping her arms around her waist and leaning into her.

“Where to?” Yuri asked.

“Wherever you wish.”

~•~

“This is a special place.” Yuri said after almost a half hour of driving.

They talked a little bit on the motorbike, but mainly small talk. Why Yuri had moved (which she had shrugged off), what kind of magic she had (she claimed she was a Knickknack Witch; her magic excelling in small tasks, like being able to sew buttons back on and finding lost items), their classes, things like that. Yuri teases Taeyeon, saying she wouldn’t tell her where they were going, and would only reveal that when they got there.

Parking the bike, Taeyeon and Yuri slid off, and Yuri led Taeyeon through a set of gates and into a park.

“You’ve probably been here before,” Yuri started. “But there’s a special spot here I want to show you. It’s hidden, so only I can find it.”

Taeyeon followed Yuri in further, and after ducking under a bush and a fence, they were standing by the water on a small grassy spot.

A comfy spot, Taeyeon thought as she sank to the ground next to Yuri. Private and secluded, yet open and airy.

“Why is it special?” Taeyeon asked.

“My father used to take me here. When I was younger. I used to play here all the time. A small play space, but it was enough for the two of us.”

“Why not anymore?”

“I think I’d be a little old to play here now,” Yuri laughed. “But my father passed a few years ago. That’s why my mother and I tend to move around a lot. It’s hard for her to find a secure job, and we tend to move wherever it is cheapest to live and wherever Mother can find a good job.

“I myself work a few part time jobs to try and help out. It’s not much, though, and I think I strain her more than help her. She’s always driving me places, back and forth, back and forth. Surely, she spends more on gas than I make.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.”

“Don’t worry. I never really liked him anyways.”

“I’ve never known my father, so I get it.”

Taeyeon and Yuri stayed there until the sun began to set. Their small talk turned to deep, meaningful conversations, and the one day motorbike ride turned into a daily occurrence.

“Taen, who’s that guy I always see you with?” Yuri asked one day as Taeyeon hunched over her science homework.

Taeyeon looked up and over at Yuri, confused. “Byun Baekhyun?” she asked. “He’s in my vocal class. We go out for coffee every once in awhile.”

“I thought he was your boyfriend.” Taeyeon could sense indifference in Yuri’s voice, but couldn’t place what.

“No, no boyfriend,” Taeyeon laughed. “As far as I know, Baekhyun is hung up on some other guy like, every week. Although this is the second week in a row I’ve heard him talk about Park Chanyeol, so perhaps we’re seeing some improvement.”

Yuri smiled smally, but on the inside was exploding with joy. Taeyeon spoke so casually about this Baekhyun being in love with another man. It gave Yuri a little bit of hope. At the very least, Taeyeon was okay with two women being in a relationship. Hopefully that meant Taeyeon wanted to be one of the women in a two-women relationship.

“Have you ever had a boyfriend?” Yuri asked, treading lightly as her heartbeat quickened.

“No,” Taeyeon said coolly. “I’m not really into guys.”

Score.

“Girlfriend?”

Taeyeon nodded. “A few years ago now. Her name was Jessica.”

“Jessica is a pretty name.”

“She was very pretty.”

“What happened to her?”

“She died.”

“Really?”

“No,” Taeyeon laughed, and Yuri couldn’t help but laugh with her. “We had our differences and decided to end it, and then a little while later she moved away. We’re still friends, though.”

“Would you ever date another girl?”

“Hell yeah,” Taeyeon laughed again. “Girls are ing awesome.”

“Can I tell you a secret?”

“Go ahead.”

“I’m telling it only to you, so don’t tell anyone else. I know you said your magic only works on certain things, and as much as I wish I could, I wish I could make you fall in love with me. We haven’t known each other for long, Taen, but I quickly grew to love you. I understand you probably don’t like me back, not in that way, but-“

It was true that at first, Taeyeon’s motives to be being collide to Yuri were selfish. She wanted power and popularity, and Yuri stood in the way of that.

But over the past few weeks, all this time she has spent with Yuri, her selfish motives turned to...well, still selfish ones.

Her motive was no longer to crush Kwon Yuri beneath her Louboutin heel, but rather to make Kwon Yuri be utterly in love with her, just as much as everyone else.

What Kim Taeyeon wasn’t expecting was to also fall in love with Kwon Yuri.

“You don’t have to wish for that,” Taeyeon told her, inching closer. “I already love you.”

Taeyeon carefully brought her lips to Yuri’s, and their kiss was far greater than them both of them could have wished.

~•~

“You still have two wishes left,” Taeyeon told her girlfriend one day, walking out to her bike. “Tell me your wish.”

“I don’t have one,” Yuri replied, smiling at her taking her hand. “I have everything I could wish for right here.”

“Bull,” Taeyeon teased. “There’s got to be at least /one/ other thing you would want to wish for. Money, maybe? Some sort of dream.”

“No,” Yuri protested. “You are my dreams and my passions.”

“You’re cheesy is what you are.”
