Author POV

Reya had to rush. She couldn’t risk being out of the anklet. She had always been capable of cracking it. The day she wore it she knew how to do it but refrained from doing it. By chance if she got caught she would never have the chance to set foot on the road ever again.

But why, when the second she heard that Jaejoong was in trouble, did she remove it?

“No” She shook her head as tears began to form in the corner of her eyes. “I’m not making the same mistake again”

But could she walk away? Now that it is established that she was his mate?

She would find a way out. She would, for sure.

For a moment she shut her eyes to sort out her thoughts, only to snap them back open once she heard an animalistic growl.

Jaejoong was near.

Reya killed the engine. She needn’t do this but something in her just had to get that idiot’s act straight.

Gosh! She felt like a babysitter!

Reya reached to the gun that laid on the passenger seat and got out. If you are wondering whose it was, it was Dean’s. As Dean was occupied kissing her she sneaked her hand over his gun. It was clearly to get back at him for kissing her since he literally cannot live without the damn gun.

A second growl resonated towards her left and she followed. Cautiously, mindful of her surroundings with her gun hoisted securely within her grasp, Reya stepped between the trees. For a human she surely was sharp, her ears picking up the slightest noise within a 50 yards radius.

She took a sharp turn when coughing was heard. Taking in a deep breath, adjusting her pose with the gun, she walked closer until she saw the back of a man,

Her man

There was little to no light now since the trees were covering the sky but she somehow recognized it to be Jaejoong.

“Stop!” His hoarse voice stilled her.

Reya dropped her hands and put the gun between the waistband of her denims and her back. She did a quick sweep of the surrounding and noted that Ayana wasn’t there.

Where was she? Has he done something to her? Reya could search for her but something about the way Jaejoong was breathing stopped her from going anywhere but closer to him.

She took a step closer and Jaejoong let out a low growl. A clear warning for her to step back.

Too bad she wasn’t the listening type.

Reya advanced, hand reaching to hold onto his shoulder when Jaejoong spun around and threw her onto the ground.

“JAEJOONG!” Ayana somehow arrived from behind the trees, right on time to see Jaejoong slam Reya on the ground under him.

Jaejoong flinched. Something about the person he just touched electrified his very being. His widened eyes stared at the unmoving beauty. A feeling, an unknown feeling to the beast began to evolve within him as the gaze prolonged.

Wasn’t she… His mate?

A pained hiss resonated from the back of his throat, a pain so hurtful that the beast couldn’t stand on his feet and fell on his knees. This was why he first ran away, to save his host from pain – pain that suddenly instigated looking at her. Why was it? It didn’t know. It didn’t care. All it knew was its host was in pain and he had to safe him from that.

But what was he feeling now?

What is this burning feeling evolving within him the longer he realizes that she wasn’t waking up?

Ayana stilled noticing that Jaejoong was finally transforming back to his normal self.

But why was he in so much pain?

Jaejoong finally came back, his body drenched in sweat
