Foreword
“Thank you….Dong…Soo ah…..”
He felt the warm body sagged further onto him and slowly turn into deadweight. “Un ah? Un ah! No, no…don’t die….Un ah! UN AH!!!”
He doesn’t know how long he kneeled there holding his dead friend’s body as it gradually turned cold. It felt like an eternity later when he could make himself slide Un’s lifeless body off his shoulder. The blood that Un had coughed up had dried up long ago smearing his beautiful lips a macabre shade of red.
“Un ah ~” He sniffs as a drop of tear fell, quickly followed by a torrent of grief as he looks down at the peaceful face which will remain in eternal slumber. His heart hurts so bad he is sure he is about to die too. Grimly he pulled out the sword still impaled in Un’s heart.
My…sword…..I killed him……I killed Un…….
“You are….my one and only refuge. With you, I can finally walk out of the darkness. Thank you, Dong Soo ah.” Un’s last words resonate in his ears.
“Un ah.”
“Un ah?”
“Un ah!”
“What is it?” The familiar deep voice snapped irritably.
He loved to tease Yeo Un, the boy he grew up with begrudgingly. They formed an uneasy friendship but as they grew older, they grew closer too. There was always a competitive streak between them but no doubt, Un was always his protector, his ally...his….companion.
“Un ah?” He ventured timidly, heart beating wildly hoping to hear that familiar irritated growl again.
But…nothing….silence.
Un will never answer him again.
His sobs grew stronger, choking him as he wept. He’s gone….Un’s gone….forever.
