In high school, Kim Yongsun would be what one considered a happy go lucky student. She was a member of the school’s choir and got along with nearly everyone. She was also at the top of her class and had multiple requests from her peers to help tutor them. Her bright smile was as contagious as her laugh.

However, things changed for her during the end of senior year. With two months of classes left to go and one major choir competition left, she suddenly quit all her extra-curricular activities and her once bright eyes became dull and void of any emotion.

“What is the meaning of this Yongsun!? What do you mean you quit when our final competition is right around the corner!?” Ms. Yoon, her choir instructor frantically yelled out as Yongsun reached for the door to leave.

“Everything has just become so….meaningless” Yongsun said almost bitterly as she walked out the door.

Senior year finished in the blink of an eye. Once everything was over, she wanted to leave town and start somewhere new, where nobody knew her…where she didn’t have to get questioned daily about things she didn’t want to bring up.

After waiting for what seemed like months, Yongsun finally got her acceptance letter into Dong-A university in the large city of Busan. Everyone she knew was staying close to home in Jeonju, so she was confident that she would be able to have a fresh start with no worries. It’s not that she hated anyone…well, except for one person in particular…but she just wanted to get away from it all.
