Chengxiao checked her phone. The time read 1:38 AM. 

She sighs as she stands up to turn off the lights in the kitchen. There stayed the covered dinner she prepared for Juyeon.

She heads to her bedroom and lays on her bed, facing the closed window.

Even the moon looked lonely tonight. She opens up her phone again and looks through her photo gallery. 

It was filled with family photos, work reminders, and most importantly, her girlfriend.

She smiles scrolling through photos of her and Juyeon. Most of them were taken privately indoors because Juyeon was an idol. They couldn’t be seen out together often because it could cause some suspicion. The fact that a Cosmic Girl was dating could ruin the group’s reputation, not to mention it was a same- couple. 

That’s why tonight wasn’t a surprise to Chengxiao. She knows Juyeon, famously known as Eunseo, is a very busy woman. The music industry demands a lot and so she fully understands when plans fall through. It was one of the sacrifices of loving an idol. 

She opens her messages and writes a message to Juyeon.

My love, I hope you didn’t go too hard on yourself today. Rest well, as I will thinking of you. 

Happy 500 days :) 

She presses send and closes her phone, putting it on the nightstand. 

With a sigh, she closes her eyes and falls asleep. 

...

“Thank you, manager-oppa.” Juyeon tells the driver of the black van. 

“No problem, tell Chengxiao I said congratulations.” The man replied, gaining a smile from the tall girl. 

Juyeon enters the apartment complex, knowing exactly which turns to take. The manager drives the van away as he’s made sure Eunseo was safely in. 

Juyeon closed the door behind her slowly, it was almost 4 in the morning and so she didn’t want to wake up her girlfriend’s neighbors. Situations like these are the reasons why she was given a key to the apartment. 

It was dark inside and so she carefully makes her way to the kitchen. As she guessed, there was dinner waiting for her.

Her heart ached at the sight of Chengxiao’s hard work being left in the cold. She knows that she couldn’t do anything to have come earlier but she’s still a little bit disappointed in herself for not being able to pay back her girlfriend with the same energy. 

She makes her way to the bedroom. Chengxiao was curled up and Juyeon couldn’t help but grin at how cute she looked. 

I’m so lucky. She thinks to herself, approaching the bed.

She kneels beside the sleeping girl and looks at her peaceful sleeping face. 

“Thank you for cooking my favorite meal. I’m so thankful for you and all the sacrifices you’ve made just to be with me. I know that it’s hard not to want what other couples have, when they can just...show each other off out in the world. But you, you make me believe in love even during the toughest days. I love you.” Juyeon whispered, trying not to wake Chengxiao up. 

“...Juyeon?” The sleeping girl mutters as her eyes slowly open. 

“Ah, I’m sorry Xiao. I didn’t mean to wake you up.” The idol explains.

Chengxiao slowly sits up and Juyeon sits beside her on the bed. 

They hug and Chengxiao looks at the clock on her nightstand after pulling away. 

“Juyeon, you know you didn’t have to come at 4 AM. You should have gone straight to your dorm, you must be exhausted.” She said, looking worriedly at her girlfriend. 

Juyeon shakes her head playfully. “Seeing you gives me all the energy I need.” 

The shorter girl hits her on the arm lightly. “You know what I mean.” 

“I know, I know. But I really, really needed to see you tonight. I always do, but especially on our 500th day.” She explains. 

Chengxiao sighs, she can’t do anything about Juyeon’s action. And she’s happy too that the girl came. 

“What time do you have to go later?” She asks, knowing Juyeon was never available for more than a few hours.

“10 AM.” The tall one answers and Chengxiao nods understandingly. She gestures that they get settled on the bed.

Juyeon leaves her backpack on the ground and she lays down next Chengxiao, she was naturally the big spoon. 

“I really missed you. Thank you for coming here.” Chengxiao almost whispers. It always touched her when Juyeon went out her way to see the shorter girl. 

Juyeon chuckles. “So you like that I did something stubborn for once, huh?” 

Chengxiao nudges her. “Hmph, you always do stubborn stuff.” She says jokingly. 

Juyeon hugs her tighter and kisses her right shoulder. Her lips felt warm and Chengxiao couldn’t help but blush. Since they didn’t see each other often, she’s now usually sensitive to Juyeon’s affectionate actions. 

“Hey, I’m not even going to get a kiss from you for our 500th?” Juyeon asks, knowingly teasing Xiao. 

Chengxiao turns around. “Yah, you like to joke around too much. Even on our 500th.” She retaliates. 

Juyeon smiles now that they were face to face. She admires her girlfriends beauty. 

“You’re so beautiful.” She says, serious. Chengxiao blushes even harder. It’s been 500 days and yet everything felt like a first date. That’s how she knew Juyeon was the one. Who knew an idol would fall in love with a commoner like her? 

Chengxiao stays silent, Juyeon knows she’s too shy in situations like this. 

“Can I kiss you?” She asks, making sure her partner was comfortable.

The shorter girl shyly nods. She lets their lips inch closer to each other. 

At first the kisses were soft, but after a few seconds it got a little rougher. 

After running out of breath, they pull away. Juyeon smiles at her cute partner, who nuzzles into her chest. Xiao was always shy after kissing. 

No words needed to be exchanged, they knew how they felt for each other. Juyeon was beaming, having Xiao in her arms. Chengxiao just wanted to stay like this forever.

“Ah, by the way,” Juyeon remembered the gift she bought for the special night, “I got you something.” She lets go of the smaller girl for a moment to reach her back pack on the bedroom floor. She opens it to fetch a small wooden box. 

Chengxiao looks a little surprised. It looked like the classic box for engagement rings. 

Juyeon realizes what it looked like and reassures Xiao. “Oh! Wait, I promise it’s nothing big.” 

She opens the wooden box and a pair of expensive looking earrings are revealed. 

“Juyeon...you shouldn’t have.” Chengxiao says, hoping the idol didn’t spend too much on the special gift.

“I wanted to give you something similar to a promise ring. But because I don’t want to cause you trouble and have co-workers or friends ask about the ring, I bought earrings instead. You should try them on later for work.” Juyeon explains. 

Chengxiao nods. “Thank you for the promise earrings.” 

“Thank you for being in my life.” Juyeon replies sincerely. 

Chengxiao blushes for what seems like the 100th time.

Juyeon just smiles at her. “Shall we get some rest then?” She suggests, now that they’ve caught up. 

Chengxiao nods and they lay down, returning to their former spooning situation. 

To some the night might have seemed uneventful, but tonight meant everything to her. Because Juyeon was everything.
