Since Moon Entertainment’s conception in 2009, the CEO and staff had been working to one idea that had often been pushed to the back burner, and that idea was a multi-talented, co-ed group, something they believed had not been done to its fullest in the Korean music and entertainment industry. Ever since the very beginning, Moon Entertainment had been working towards such group. In June 2014, after changes upon changes to the lineup, Moon Entertainment finally found the right balance among the members for their project. Somehow managing to keep the same line-up ever since gave the members a chance to work together and build their chemistry as not only a group, but a family of sorts.

Flash forward to 2017, Moon Entertainment debuted their first group, Petal and was preparing to debut their second group, Eclipse not long after. With trainees and groups who had been training in Moon Entertainment for less time debuting before them, the morale of the co-ed group was starting to dwindle down. The members spend hours upon hours talking and discussing what they thought they should do. But just when all hope almost seemed lost, the group had been called to a meeting with the staff. Half expecting to be told they would no longer be debuting, they entered the meeting preparing for the worse. But instead of crushing their dreams, Moon Entertainment’s staff told them that a group name and a debut date had been decided for them. They were to be called Twilight (stylised as Twilight☾) and would be making said debut on January 3rd, 2018. With three unit pre-releases to be released from December 2017 until their debut. The meeting was enough to raise the morale of the members of Twilight higher than it had ever been before and with that, the members started working towards theit debut!
