    He’d been walking aimlessly on the bridge when he’d seen her sitting on the edge, long legs dangling beneath her. He’d expected her to jump off and ran to tell her all the reasons she shouldn’t. She’d let him trip over his words for a few seconds before she’d laughed and told him that she wasn’t planning on jumping.

    He’d been confused.

           Aren’t you afraid of falling?

    She’d waited so long to respond that he almost thought she hadn’t heard him over the crash of the waves below.
