In Her Room

Description

As Summer approaches, the girls get busier and busier. Kim Yongsun has to get ready for another concert and Moon Byulyi is working on her solo album. One of her songs deals with the impossibility of coming back to a home filled with the thoughts and presence of a past lover.

 

 

Foreword

So, as I said, I'm working on a short story, but I want to have the definite plot in mind before I start posting anything. And it's gonna be Mamamoo related... but.

Huhu, and that's all I'm going to say for now.

In the meantime, Byul's kihno album came out. And I almost got one (no, for real). But since karma is a and I trusted the wrong people with it, it'll never reach its destination. It's okay, I just bought it on iTunes instead (can you feel the saltiness? 'cause I can).

But the thing is, I love it... I love anything Byul does... Okay, I love Byul, but that's not the point. If you're a Moomoo (why would you be there if you weren't though?), you probably know about this joke regarding Byul's house. Where is it? How's it like? Does she actually have one, or does she just spend her time at Yong's? With a song like “In My Room”, many of us thought we'd finally know... and were fooled.

So, I wrote this one shot with that in mind.

 

P.S.: Also, I'm well aware that Byul herself signs Moon ByulE on some of her posts, but I'm used to the other writing so... yeah, I chose to ignore that (you can't blame me, I'm such a big Byul's buddy believer... now, try to say that ten times faster).

Chapter 1: Let me just try to put down in words how I feel about this story while I was reading... I felt like I wanted to cradle this story in my hands and smile at it gently because this story makes me feel so soft and warm through the way you wrote it. For some reason I really like this line: 'Lost in contemplation, she raised an arm and pretended to grab the ventilation grid in her palm before bringing it back on her eyes.' You include the tiniest details which say a lot. I like the fact that Byul's song inspired you to write a story which does not only tackle the physical aspect of Home/Room, but also explores the entire Moonsun relationship, from the part about how their CEO took the news about the treble and the bass (this says a lot about how people view their relationship) to the paragraph which starts with 'She took a step inside (...)' about Yongsun simply basking in Byul's scent. I also like this line: 'They had been set there, as if the girl expected the people in the photographs to actually talk back when she was writing, or composing; giving their assent, or returning a smile.' It's quite an interesting take on why Byul would paste those photos in the recording room, and it's interesting that you wrote Yongsun thinking that way, especially with Yongsun being the one who knows Byul best. The part where Yongsun was waking sleepy Byul up made me feel so warm. I really like this line: 'It was the same sensation of wholeness, the same impression that she was at the right place in the right time, that she belonged there.' It's amazing how you interweave flashbacks and the present so smoothly from Yongsun's POV that it doesn't feel jarring, and it even drives the plot forward. And of course, that last line may be Byul being greasy but also shows her true honest feelings (sometimes sleepy people tend to speak the truth without them realising it). Tbh there are other parts and lines that I like as well! Thank you very much for writing this beautiful story! :)
