Prologue

Minjoo’s POV

“Yah! Wake up, we’ll be late for school! It’s already 7:54 am, when do you plan to go up and go to school?!” the whole neighbourhood may hear me this early shouting but I don’t care, I’ll be late for school if I didn’t wake up this girl.

“Will you please stop nagging at me this early? Go to school if you want! I’m still sleepy!” and she shout back at me.

Aish, I’m so tired of her.

‘Minra, when will you change?’ I said in my mind while looking at her hopelessly.

She’s my twin sister, yes we look so much alike but you can differentiate us easily. Our way of dressing is so different. I always wear simple feminine clothes while, she… Never mind! And our attitudes are different too. I’m tired to think of it now… I need to go to school.

“Alright sleep here the whole day if you want. I’m going to school now.” I said as calm as I could.

“Take care sis,” she said followed by a chuckle, trying to annoy me.

I only let go of a sigh and turn to leave. Yet in the back of my mind, I’m still worried. I know dad will scold her again if he knew Minra’s absent today.

---at school—

I just entered our school gate and I’m walking alone now. I’m not used of it actually. I always go to school with my twin sister although we’re not talking to each other. Since we started high school, I always go here alone. Honestly, walking with her silently is way better than walking alone. Aigoo…

“Minjoo-shi!” a voice called from a distance.

I turned around and saw our senior, Siwon oppa.

“Oppa, good morning!” I greeted him with a smile and bow.

“Yah, you don’t need to be so formal.” He said as he reached my spot.

“But you’re older than me, oppa” I replied.

Then we started walking again. Now I’m not alone, thanks to Siwon oppa!

“Alright, whatever! Anyway, are you heading to your class?” he asked while looking at the sky walking coolly.

I just nod my head.

“Why did I ask? Of course you do… I can see that you’re holding books. Aish, a really smart girl!” he praised.

Honestly, what he said is true. I ranked first in our batch but I still feel shy every time people talked about it.

“Oppa, you don’t need to say that. And besides, you’re the smartest in your batch too. That’s why you became the president of the student council.” I said trying to escape his praises for me.

“Well…what you said is true, but… Okay let’s not talk about it anymore!” he said, maybe realizing that we’re just in the same position.

We reached my room and so we bid goodbyes. I sit on my chair and greeted some other friends. Few minutes more and our room become more occupied, but there are still no traces of my twin sister.

“Minjoo-shi, where’s your sister?” Kan, my twin sister’s bad influence best friend asked me.

“Oh, she’s still sleeping when I left home,” I said without looking at him. I even open a book and pretend to read lectures.

I felt he’s gone from my back. ‘Didn’t he know how to thank people?’

I just don’t want to talk to those kinds of students. So immoral, and know only nothing but online gaming and troubles. I wonder why he’s in the first section and how can he survive being here.

Few more minutes and our first teacher came. It’s P.E. class but since today is Monday, we will only have a lecture inside the class. My classmates went to their seats and so the teacher started for her lesson. I just noticed that there’s a new face in our class. I guess a transfer student. He looks cool though, I hope he can cope with our class soon.

I looked at my watch. It’s already 8:09.

‘Minra where are you?’

Minra’s POV

‘Should I go? Should I not? Should I go? Should I not?’ I’m repeating these damn words on every tick of my clock.

“Aaaaaaaah!” I screamed as I sat up.

I feel so lazy to go to school but I don’t want to hear my father’s stupid lecture tonight.

“Alright I gave up! I’m going!” I shout talking to every corner of my room.

I quickly fixed myself, grabbed my bag and run all the way to our gate. Our school is just a few meters away from our school so I don’t need to take a bus. I know I’m already late so it’s no use to walk faster, plus, it will just make me tired.

As I walk through the street, I saw a stupid-looking guy wearing a thick black framed glasses walking at the next street.

I watched him for a while but I was shocked when he looked at me and run towards me.

“Excuse me miss,” he approached.

‘What did he call me? MISS? I didn’t reply and looked at him.

“Do you know where Hansung Science High School is?” the guy asked me.

I gave him an annoying and an obvious fake smile and just showed the patch of my uniform.

“Oh, so you’re studying there?” he asked again.

‘Ghaad, isn’t it obvious?! I can’t imagine how stupid this guy is.’

“Great! I can go with you there!!’ he said very cheerfully while holding my shoulders and shaking me.

“Yah!” I cut in as I gave him my glare.

“Who told you stupid that you can go with me?!” I said in a rude manner as I remove his hands from my shoulders.

He paused for a while, looked so startled then fixed his eyeglasses. Now, he look more stupid.

“B…but…why? I’m from America and…I don’t know…”

“I don’t care! And I don’t even know you. No further reasons. You can’t go with me!” I shout at him, not giving him a chance to explain his side.

I began walking again, not caring for his reactions. Later on I just realized he’s following me silently.

“Yah! I said don’t go with me. Are you that stupid and you can’t understand those simple words?” I said as I faced him.

“But I need to go to school now. I’m almost an hour late. Please allow me to go with you, Minra-shi.” He begged as he bowed down.

Wait, he called me Minra-shi? M…Minra?! My NAME?!

“H…How did you know my name?!” I asked disbelievingly of what’s happening.

“You’re bag has a name tag,” he explained while scratching his head.

I checked my bag and he’s right, I have a name tag here. I remember I put this last week.

I stared at him for a few seconds and begun to talk again.

“Okay. Bye!”

“Wa…wait! My name is Kim Kibum. Now you know me. May I go with you now?” he asked while kneeling down.

“Kim…what?!” I asked pretending that I didn’t here what he said.

‘Kim Kibum’ Hahaha! His name sounds more stupid than what he looks. It fits him and for that I want to give him a clap clap.

“Kim Kibum,” he repeat his funny name as he stood up.

“Okay. Bye!” I said and turned to leave.

“Wait, how about me?” he asked as he hold my arm, making my body go near to his.

I’m shocked by his sudden actions so I quickly escaped from his grip.

“J…just follow me. But don’t go near me!” I said without looking at him.

Minjoo’s POV

We’re almost finished for our first period but Minra isn’t around yet. Will she leave the class again today?

“Before I forgot, we have a transfer student here from Daegu Science High School. Please introduce yourself.” Jung-sonsaengnim said.

“Hi, I’m Kim Kibum from Daegu Science High School. You can call me Key, it’s my nickname. I was born and took my elementary in America. My family moved to Daegu so I started my middle high and high school there. Since I was the top student of our school, they gave me a scholarship so I can study here. I hope we can have a good relationship.” The transfer student, or should I say Key said.

He sounds nice and kind. Although he’s smart, he introduced himself humbly. He went back to his seat and gave a little smile to Kan, though Kan just ignored him.

“Okay class. We still have 20 minutes for our discussion,” Jung-sonsaengnim continued his lessons.

“Aish!” I heard Kan from the back of the class, bored again for sure.

“Choi Young Hak-shi, getting tired for my class?” Jung-sonsaengnim by saying his full name.

Everyone laughed and I know Kan is annoyed now. He doesn’t want anyone to call him by his true name, that’s why he is so thankful for my sister to give him such a nice nickname.

Jung-sonsaengnim continued his lessons and everyone paid their attention. Key is paying his attentions too. He seems so determined for his study. Such a nice guy, should I approach him later?

Later on the bell rang indication of class dismissal.

“Alright class, do your home works. Goodbye,” Jung-sonsaengnim said.

“I’m sorry I’m late!” then a familiar voice was heard from the door.

‘Aish Minra, why did you enter the room?’

“Minra-shi, don’t be sorry. You’re not late for my class.” Our teacher told her.

Yes she’s not late, she’s absent.

“Really? Is the class just started?” My sister asked, puzzled.

“No. My class just finished. And you just cut classes.” Came our teacher’s reply.

“Aren’t you ashamed? Your twin sister is the most outstanding student of your batch, and you? I don’t want to mention it anymore. No wonder that you survive being on the first section because of the help of your sister.” Jung-sonsaengnim scolded her before leaving.

I saw my sister just standing at the door bowing her head. All eyes are on her now, and there’s an awkward silence inside the room.

“Yah Minra, catch this!” Kan broke the silence as he threw a chocolate bar in the air. Is he trying to calm Minra down?

My sister caught is and walked to her seat. I thought everything is okay so I began fixing my things for the next class but…

“Aaaaah!!” I heard my sister shout and I saw the chocolate and her scattered things and bag lying on the floor now.

“KIM KIBUM I WILL KILL YOU!!!” she again shouts with all her might as she punched her table.

Everyone was shocked with her sudden acts. I looked at Key and he is pale as a mannequin. He’s looking at my angry sister, frightened.

‘Kim Kibum? Why? What happened?’
