Chapter 4: This is so sad but in a good way. It's hard to find a fanfic where Seulgi loves herself enough to love Irene. And I'm glad I found this.

Chapter 4: I guess that epilogue will never see the light of the day given its been two years since this story was finish. This story is great and you're really great at writing at angst... but i just cant help have that unsettling feeling by how it ends... because i feel like I don't what the he'll happen to Joohyun... like what's her reason for doing what she did... i want to see her hurt... and maybe I just really want to know why because the reason she gave was really shallow and senseless...

Although I love this story and how well written it is, I can't help but disagree with it.

I love how you tend to make your stories as realistic as possible; you don't see that very often with fanfiction. And I really like the cathartic direction you took with this one, but it seems to lack something.

See, time and time again, this story tries too hard to make Seulgi the victim, while it seems to demonize each one of Irene/Wendy's actions. None of them are perfect, but there's a huge bias towards excusing the protagonist's actions, even when she's being a jerk. It's a huge circle of people hurting each other until they move on. This goes on until the very end, and there's no second guesses, no regrets, no self-awareness.

The story works; it makes a point on how you deal with betrayal, how you stop living for someone else's sake, and it's brilliant. But we're talking about best friends, and you could only tell they were because it was stated. None of them do anything to help their situation; they just let time pass, hoping things will get better. And we're told they do, but it doesn't seem like it.

Seulgi runs away from her past like it was nothing, not caring who was hurt in the process. Irene loses everything she fought for because of one single bad choice in her life. And it's all treated in a really 'black and white' manner, like there's nothing to overcome for them. It is realistic in a way (it has definitely happened before), but it's a forced outcome, and said realism strips the story of the meaning it strived for.

Other than that, it was definitely an interesting read. I absolutely loved the dark, depressing atmosphere you created here.

Chapter 4: is it bad that the whole time ive been reading this, i wanted irene to hurt (emotionally) so bad for hurting seulgi? i mean, did she kiss seulgi that christmas and hope to have her crawling back? cuz that's toxic af. the whole time she's been testing seulgi i was like "nah, stfu and give seulgi a break" but it felt like she also didnt deserve that kind of hurt in the end (altho cheating bc how could anyone do horrible things like that).

in a way, i guess, i am glad that this fic chose a mind over heart route it's like having a close friend in this situation and they actually followed your advice for once. Altho it's highly unlikely to have this irl, honestly, bc that's 9 years of love there, that's almost all of someone's growing up stage in life, in this fic, irene probably have seen all thr transitions in seulgi's life and that's someone who's one of the hardest to let go. but im proud seulgi chose to move on, bc that's the logical thing to do. irene here has been selfish and emotionally manipulative. been saying "stfu irene" the whole time lmao. (ps i love irene with my whole heart irl ok)
