Is it you?

Description

“Who are you?” her voice just loud enough for him to hear as he brings her into an embrace that she unconsciously relaxes into. His warm breath brushing over her ear, “You need to wake up now, you need to find us.”

Foreword

The cool breeze glided over her skin a nice contrast to the warmth from the bodies laid comfortably around her. Leg intertwined, arms overlapping bodies and hands laced together or holding onto the fabric of the clothing of whoever they were laying next to. Steady breaths fill the quite surrounding her. Safe, that is what she felt at that moment in time. Completely and utterly safe as a body moves closer, head nuzzling into the crook of her neck breathing in her scent and releasing a content sigh pulling her even closer to their own body. Holding her securely as if she could disappear any minuet.

Just as her eye’s started to close a low growl stopped her, lifting her head to look out into the distance two eye’s pierced the black void that seemed to be swallowing up the scenery around her. As if in a trance she carefully got up from the pile of bodies surrounding her and started to walk towards the void, her own eyes never leaving the ones that seem to be focused on her and only her. A whine in the direction of the shining eyes stopped her in her tracks as she takes in the two beautifully odd coloured eyes in front of her, one being a warm golden brown the other a deep green. She stands there for what feels like hours just staring not making any decision to move any closer.

Feeling a sharp breeze hit her skin harshly a contrast from the calm one that washed over her from earlier, the eyes disappeared for a second before they reappeared on the face of a white and grey wolf. Head down and ears up as a deep growl came from its throat as it slowly started to move towards her. Eye’s widening in panic she started to slowly walk backwards hoping that someone from the pile of comforting bodies that were laying around her before would come to her rescue. It’s teeth showing as a snarl comes from the creatures mouth making her jump, she turned ready to run for her life only to trip over something landing on top of what felt like a body. As she tries to quickly stand up on shaky legs the metallic smell of blood fills her nose, looking at her now wet hands all she can see is her pale skin covered in red, quickly trying to scramble back to her feet her eye’s adjust to see the legs and bodies of who she fell onto. The collection of warmth from the bodies she was not so long ago cuddled up to now cold, lifeless and covered in red. She felt herself go cold as she turned around to see not one of them breathing or moving. Face after face that she tried so hard to remember, to put names too but she couldn’t. Her mind just becoming blank. Who are they? Why did her heart feel like it had been pierced and broken into millions of pieces? She couldn’t think and she didn’t have time to as the growl from before returned even louder, as her eye’s widened the wolf jumped at her. Raising her hands to cover her face waiting for the impact, waiting for the pain to spread across her body and the scream to leave her lips, it never came. Instead a warm hand pulled her own away from her face, the other hand coming up and wiping away the tears that had started to leave her eye’s unbeknown to herself. As she opens her eye’s she’s staring into a pair of golden brown ones on the face a man who is smiling sadly at her, a dimple only slightly showing on his cheek.

“Who are you?” her voice just loud enough for him to hear as he brings her into an embrace that she unconsciously relaxes into. His warm breath brushing over her ear, “You need to wake up now, you need to find us.” Pulling away from her and gently pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, eye’s focusing onto her face he smiles sadly again at her. Looking at him with confusion apparent on her face “how? Tell me how?” her voice sounding more desperate that she intended it to but he just kept looking at her sadness on his face as he turned and walked away. She tried to walk after him but her feet wouldn’t move, more tears started to stream down her face as she watched him walk further away from her disappearing into the void, a scream leaving her lips and she falls to the floor clutching her now pounding head, growls echoing in the distance mixed with howling. As her eyes started to close all she could think was that somehow it all sounded so beautifully sad. Just as her body completely hit the floor and her eyes finally closed.

Waking up with a jump, her body covered in a layer of sweat, tears rolling down her face as she tried to calm her breathing. She had been having the same dream nearly every night for the past month, she’d been having dreams about these nameless bodies and the wolf that never manages to attack her since she was in her early teens. Little did she know they will all start to make sense a lot sooner than she would have imagined.
