What is omegaverse?

The Alpha/Beta/Omega verses or simply omegaverse is an alternate universe where some or all people have defined biological roles based on a hierarchial system, with the terms originating from animal behavior research. Elements may include some/all of the following:

- Werewolf (not necessary; characters may be purely human)

- Mating, heat cycles and knotting

- mpreg (some males can get pregnant depending on the rank)

Some terms in relation to ABO verses:

The knot is a kink based on the bulbus glandis, "an erectile tissue structure on the of canid mammals." If an alpha has ual with an omega, he could not get out of the omega's hole until the knot stops swelling, more likely after 30 minutes. The knot exists so that chances of impregnating a mate is higher. Soul bonding will occur during the heat driven mating. Knotting is optional. For the heat to end, the omega must be knotted.

Unless an omega is on pills, he or she might get pregnant because of so much fertility.

Heat cycles are like menstrual cycles. It usually occurs monthly. It may be predicted, but may be triggered by factors such as soul bonding with an alpha, forgetting to take the heat pills (or overdosage of those pills) or being surrounded by alpha pheromones. It may last for about 3-5 days. Most of the time is spent having lots of . s, -stained sheets... My, my. I pity the one who will do the laundry.

The universal characteristic of heat cycles is that the omega has a need to have with someone. A male omega has a self-lubricating to enable this activity. Single omegas may lock themselves away with the toys they have.

During the heat, omegas will release pheromones in the air that alphas and betas may detect in the area. It is dangerous because alphas/betas who are not an omega's mate may sense the pheromones, and as part of their anatomy (particularly the alpha), they cannot control themselves and may an omega. This is why it is advised for omegas to be locked in a private area or take a heat leave.

Rut, on the other hand, occur in male alphas and male betas, and are similar to heats in terms of how it makes the alpha feel. When an alpha comes into contact with the pheromones of an omega in heat, they become aroused and go into rut, which is essentially an unquenchable need to stick their in the omega at hand.

Once a year they go into rut during what is typically called as Mating Season, also known as Spring Time. However a Beta female or Omega in Heat can throw them into rut as well. It may last from 4-7 days.

Synthetic Scent Markers, commonly known as suppressants, are chemicals that counteract a person's natural pheromone system to "mask" the scent, or even alter it in some cases depending on its chemical composition.

They are used by omegas who wish to alter the heat cycle. However, dangers may occur if suppressant schedules are long-term. With high doses, an Omega may put him/herself in risk of a disorder called heat sickness. Heat sickness is a state of physical distress on which an omega goes through many unsuppressed heats without an assistance of an alpha or remains on chemical suppressants for more than two years w/o a release cycle. Untreated, it may cause permanent damage in the pheromone system, infertility, mental and emotional disorders or worse, death.

The nest is a place where an omega can be comfortable. May be a closet, room or bed. Usually filled with soft things or simply the smell of their mate if ever they have one. As their pregnancy due dates get closer, they may spend more time in their nests with their alpha.

The three ranks are:

ALPHA - top of the social ladder. Territorial. Dominant. Form a knot when aroused. Have bigger than normal ia. Alphas are very protective and possessive of their mates. When around an omega in heat, they cannot control themselves. They must bond with them and claim them as their own. They release a lot of , , . Alpha females possess a but has low chances of getting pregnant, or none at all. May not have but their oris may become a retractable when aroused. Females have internal .

BETA - Normal people, normal , normal ia, normal birth. Males still experience rut and females heat, but fertility does not increase during those times. In some cases, a female alpha may impregnate a female beta.

OMEGA - lowest on the hierarchy but may be treated as rare and prized depending on the author. Male omegas are self-lubricating and may get pregnant. They have a complicated physiology. Instead of , they secrete slick, a clear substance that is also secreted in their cavity upon arousal. Depending on the author, they may have a uterus and ovary, and an cervix which would be opened during a high state of arousal during normal time or during the heat. Or they may have a superl opening that stays sealed unti labor pains begin, located behind the . Or they may have labor with cesarean section or in their .
