the fans were furious.
arguably the biggest of the big three companies, sm entertainment has been infamous for their rather questionable choices and foolish mistakes that often angered the fans. however, as time goes on, so do they. the continuous onslaught of displeased tweets sinking lower and lower down the screen. the overflow of red, harsh thoughts beginning to slip away from the mind's reach. and before you know it, all is at peace once again.
however, this. this was unforgivable.
with the older generation now deemed legendary and beginning to disperse down their own paths, the company was handed down to the newer generation. there was not a single doubt that the company was in good hands. exo grabbing the love and attention from fans all over the planet, checking "world domination" off of their to-do list, adding trophy after another with each comeback, and their albums rocketing to the top of the charts. then, there's red velvet. the five respected girls who were known for not only their impressive talents that always leave you in awe but their versatility in concepts as well, never failing to present each one with the best of the best quality. and don't forget what fans like to refer as sm's newest blessing: nct. the limitless number of diverse boys overwhelming the fans with their top-notch visuals and unbelievable performances that always result with them hanging on the edge of their seats, thirsting for more. with these groups, it was clear. the newer generation was perfect. and a bright future was awaiting.
until, they came along.
nobody expected the sudden news. like an unpredicted bomb dropped upon a peaceful town spending just another sunny day. the once tranquil community exploded into a violent chaos of social media posts and articles. sm entertainment was debuting a new girl group. it was now the latter's turn to be thrown off-guard, for they didn't expect such a resistant and bitter response. with red velvet beginning to reach their peak and nct slowly but steadily garnering the affection of fans all over the world, it was expected that the debut of a new girl group was clearly the most absurd idea in the absolute worst timing. adding gasoline to the fire, the fans began to attack sm on other aspects, questioning the debut of a new girl group when they have yet to bring f(x) back from their rather long hiatus, some even questioning why debut a new girl group with never before seen faces when they had the other female smrookies who have been introduced to the public for quite a while now. silently watching the fans not letting their disapproval die down, sm and the once eager girls began to feel uneasy, second-guessing their newest project. but they both knew, they can't back out now. not with their inflamed throats after days on days of singing and rapping their hearts out, not with the sweat and tears shedded while spending endless nights perfecting the choreography, and definitely not with their vivid dreams and wild ambition pushing the girls forward and motivating them to get up out of their beds every morning for another difficult day. it would be an understatement to say the girls were intimidated by what the public had in store for them, having no choice but to brace themselves and fight on. but if one thing's for sure:
they will come. they will see. and they will conquer.
