The Confession
The Royal Maid"There's going to be some changes..." Youngjae started. "One major change that may affect you." His voice sounded defeated, not helping the anxiety bubbling up inside me.
I decided to stay quiet until Youngjae was done talking. Partly out of politeness to a prince, but also because I was so scared I didn't know I could speak.
"I called a family meeting to ask about changing the laws." Youngjae explained. "The laws used to be royalty in this kingdom could only marry other royalty, or the wealthiest families."
"I wasn't a fan of that rule. At least the past few weeks I wasn't a fan of that rule." He continued. "So I called a family meeting. I wanted this law changed." His voice changed from defeated to determined.
But... what did this have to do with me?
I finally managed to look Youngjae in the eye, all I could give was a confused look.
"What do you think?" Youngjae asked. The look in his eyes was... strange. It was hard to describe. It's almost like he was... scared? Why would he be scared?
"You should do what makes you happy." I said, returning my gaze to the floor. No matter what my feelings are for the prince, he needs to do what makes him happiest.
Youngjae sighed. "I don't mix well with other princesses and wealthy girls. I know my parents are obsessed with my brother and I continuing the Yoo name."
"I'm thankful they agreed to change the laws." He added.
