Description

Min Yoongi has just recently opened his brand-new bakery with his long-time colleague, Kim Seokjin.

Jung Hoseok has gained reputation as the #1 assassin of the urban underworld.

Now, at the ripe age of 23, these two men have been prospering, Yoongi gaining profit day-by-day with customers coming in every hour, Hoseok's kill count increasing by the second.

They didn't know that their encounter would end up with a bullet in someone's body.

Foreword

A bakery. Approximately 1:30 p.m., and many customers were in it, sitting at cute and quaint tables, discussing random topics over the usual cake or coffee.

At the front, people were lined up for the cashier, and two to three little kids pressed themselves up against the glass display of numerous, colorful desserts that caught their eye. Croissants crowded the first shelf, tiny pastries--from dolcinis to éclairs--the second, and the cakes were saved for the large bottom space. The lady at the front was greeting every customer with a courteous smile, saying their totals every time.

Further in the back, past the baristas making the occasional latte, laid out the main kitchen--the home base where all the creations were made. Many bakers were there creating desserts for the general public, but a small team of four to five people were gathered around one gigantic, four-layered cake set for someone's 16th birthday.

A man with ruffled blonde hair circled the table, eyeing the cake's features one last time before it was to be shipped out to the client. Up and down, he saw garnishes of red roses and green vines made out of fondant; the cake itself was a luscious brown on the inside, for the client was madly in love with their signature Devil's Food Cake, but the layers were generally covered with a white frosting, streaks of red appearing within it for an avant-garde look. At the top was a custom-made candle that read "16" for the age.

At the moment, the other bakers in the team except the blonde were doing their last-minute frosting, a dark chocolate ganache also being drizzled upon the entire cake for a final finish. One baker came down from a stool that he had been on in order to get the top layers to address the blonde. This baker had light-pink hair, making he and the blonde baker the two people that stood out the most in the kitchen. "Hey, does the cake look good?"

The blonde nodded with a gummy smile. "Definitely. Our client's definitely going to love this. Do we have our delivery service on hold out in the back?"

"Yes, sir. They just arrived."

"Yah, what's with this 'sir' thing? You and I have known each other for years, damn it."

"Sorry! It's just a habit--after all, you were in charge of the cake order this time. You were the one who designed and perfected the recipe itself!"

"Says the guy who came up with the idea of making an avant-garde frosting after consulting with the client. Your work ethic succeeds mine, hyung."

"Nonsense. If you didn't come up with the idea of opening this bakery to--I quote, 'make people smile with a bite from our desserts'--I wouldn't be able to do all of this with you. You're the one who has possessed more resolution than I could ever muster up. Seriously."

"Whatever, Jin."

"Yoongi-ah! Honorifics! I'm still older than you, you know! You're supposed to call me HYUNG."

"You're joking, right?"

"I pretty much am."

"Seriously, hyung, you're so extra sometimes."

"Seriously, Yoongi, you're so petty sometimes."

Min Yoongi had just recently opened his brand-new bakery with his long-time colleague, Kim Seokjin--for a while now, they've been selling their goods well, acquiring great customer turnout along with the cake order that came in once in a while. They called it MiniMini, hoping to give their bakery a cute look while still putting out phenomenal desserts that the world's never seen.

Yoongi was in charge of the actual taste of their desserts, making sure every ingredient was measured carefully, while Jin was in charge of design, making sure every dessert looked surreal. However, when it came to cake orders, they would switch their professions with every time--one time, it would be Yoongi in charge of design and Jin in charge of taste, and vice versa for the next time.

"Hey, don't forget that we have to stay behind to do inventory."

"Ugh, it's THAT day today? But we just finished this cake~"

"No excuses. Doing inventory is what helps us account our profit and rent."

"I know, I know. By the way, I got an idea for a dessert--I was thinking of doing a twist on our marble cake by adding an orange flavor into the chocolate part. Limited edition for the autumn season, you know? What do you think about it?"

"Jin, you need to stop overthinking things. Everything that you do is great and well-received by the customers."

"All right, I'll try to make it later tonight, and then you can test it to see whether it needs a bit of modifying. If things go well, we can have it out by Wednesday."

"Sounds good to me."

With that, Jin called around the rest of the cake team to help load the cake into the moving van for delivery to the client,

and Yoongi sighed,

grateful that he was able to open up such a successful bakery with his good friend.

An abandoned building. Also approximately 1:30 p.m., and only one person was in there, resting on the fourth floor.

A red-headed man was situated near an open window where he had sight of a high-class hotel right across from him. With him was a sniper rifle, particularly a Barrett M82A1, pointed towards the outside, aimed towards a specific window on that hotel.

Through his scope, the red-headed man spotted a large-bodied man walking with a woman who had a thin waist, heading for the elevator in order to go for a dip in the luxurious swimming pool a couple of floors above. The man had no time to waste for he was already on the highest floor.

Pointing towards the large-bodied man,

he pulled the trigger,

the short recoil moving the red-head by just a bit.

He saw the trigger hit the large-bodied man right into his head, the leaking blood visible even from this distance. The woman beside him shrieked like a banshee as she saw the life escape him as he collapsed to the floor, attracting the attention of many hotel guests on that floor.

That was when the red-head started packing up his weapon, but then he was rudely interrupted by a voice coming in from the earpiece he had on his right ear.

"--Spider, come in."

"Report: target eliminated. Awaiting next orders."

"Actually, Spider,

you're going to have to come into HQ this time."

"Is something the matter?"

"It's nothing big, but let's just say that your task is going to be a bit different from the ones you normally get.

Let's just say that this will require more than just a weapon and a bullet."

When the red-head--"Spider"--arrived at HQ, he was a bit on edge. What did he mean by 'more than just a weapon and a bullet'? Isn't that what my job basically revolves around?

But he decided to obliterate all questions in his head, knowing that if something was different from the norm,

he would have to listen to his next assignment with absolute caution.

Standing up straight, he bowed to his boss, who sat in a comfortable leather chair just a yard away, smoking a cigar that polluted the air with a pungent scent. "Mr. Bang, I await my next assignment, sir."

His boss, Bang Si-Hyuk, took the cigar out of his mouth and blew the smoke out of him, placing the cigar somewhere safe and linking his fingers together as he looked at his company's number-one assassin, "Spider".

"Come closer," he demanded, and Spider complied, making one to two steps to get closer. Mr. Bang recklessly dropped a new file onto his polished desk. "Open it," and "Spider" opened the file, perusing through his next assignment.

The first page of the file consisted of a picture of himself, along with his specifications--or, at least, that's what he thought. In actuality, he saw that the specifications were highly incorrect.

Normally, whenever Spider received files like this, the first page would always consist of the main target.

Does that mean I'm the target?

"No worries, Spider, the first page is your new identity."

Spider looked up. "What exactly do you mean, sir?"

"Your new assignment is going to be much longer than usual, so that's why I've assigned you a new identity."

"Sir, does this mean that--"

"Yes, Spi--Jung Hoseok," the boss said, trying out the name of Spider's new identity. "this is your first undercover job."

Spider was elated at this--even though he was the number-one assassin, he was still relatively new, for he had just gone out into the field for the first time a couple of months ago. His rank was only like that because of how fast he completed his jobs.

"From now on until the end of this assignment, you are no longer Spider. You are now Jung Hoseok, a part-time hip-hop dancer in search of work after graduating from college. Your close friends call you 'Hobi', and your personality is as radiant as the sun."

Spider cracked a smile at the wording that his boss chose. "That must mean I must pose as quite a happy person, I assume."

"Exactly, Hoseok-ah. I know that you've been through a lot--I mean, I did take you in, obviously--but for this time, you must smile."

Spider looked back and forth between his file and his boss, contemplating his assignment.

I must smile.

he thought to himself,

already seeing the challenges that he would have to face.

He never lived an easy life, anyway.

Spider--Hoseok then put his character file underneath the stack of papers and finally saw his target's specifications. In the top-right, a picture of a blonde-haired man with a stoic expression was placed on the paper. In his personal opinion, the blonde-haired man seemed quite the looker, and would probably attract many women if he had smiled.

But nonsensical thoughts are prohibited when it comes to work.

"Your target is Min Yoongi, a baker who recently opened a bakery called 'MiniMini' with his colleague. He has been suspected of having connections to the boss one of our enemy organizations from the west side, so what I need you to do is get close to him by working at his bakery and searching out information from him." Mr. Bang continued on. "The organization that he may be affiliated with has started to rise again, so that's why it's imperative that you get information as soon as possible. Do you understand?"

Hoseok nodded. "I understand, sir. I shall apply for a position in his bakery tomorrow."

"What are you talking about? In the file, MiniMini's not looking for any new bakers."

He mischievously grinned. "For now, that is. It'd be a shame if someone were to get hurt, now, would it?"

Mr. Bang cackled boisterously. "HAH! Even though most of the time you're as silent as a drugged girl, you still have that classic sense of humor within ya! That's the spirit!"

Still grinning to his boss--one of the only people who has ever seen that grin of his--Hoseok directed his attention towards the file.

He looked at the first two pages of his assignment once more, comparing himself to the blonde-haired man named Min Yoongi.

"Now, you've already been given a place near the bakery, along with sufficient funds and clothing to last you for a month, but from then on, you're in charge of earning your own income for your job at the bakery. All the information you need is in that file--as soon as you memorize everything, burn it."

"Yes, Mr. Bang." Hoseok said, and bowed to his boss before exiting his office.

The next day.

Yoongi and Jin were shocked as they looked at one of their waitresses was clad in a hospital gown, a neck brace around her neck. "Kai! What happened?" Jin asked.

"...I don't know myself, either. One evening, I was just on the way home from Mini-squared, and next thing you know, a car comes crashing into me. And I had looked both ways, too!"

The blonde cursed. "Now we're down a waiter. Great."

"We'll need to put up a new position soon enough since we've been short-staffed on waiters ever since we opened." the pink-haired Jin remarked.

As the two bakery owners looked down solemnly at the bedridden waitress,

Hoseok was peering through the door of their room,

chuckling to himself as he took out his phone to check the MiniMini website.

And now, we wait.
