After the first message sent by Jeonghan’s sister, a voice recording were sent to them in their group chat, and one video was to be send individually.

 

They listened to the voice message in the group altogether.

 

“Congratulations that you failed! I don’t want us to have someone left behind. Thank you for succeeding to fail. (giggle) Saranghae~ those I wrote as a clue was just my nonsense. (giggle) did you enjoy the game? I hope so.

(a little pause)

Umm…

About the boxes and keys you received, find the rightful owner. One try in a day. This is the rule, if you chose that person to exchange keys, you have to date, alright? Have fun. You keep on dating until you find the right key.

(paused as he giggle)

Inside that box is a piece of my heart. Alright.

Goodluck!”

 

And after hearing the first voice recording, a message was sent on each. “This is a private message for each of you. This contains Oppa’s message to you. You are the only ones who are allowed to hear this. You should promise us. You’ll know when you see this.”

 

LONDON

 

Doctor Eric:

Please! Give him another chance, doctor!

 

Doctor:

Eric. Enough!

Don’t give the boy more trouble. He’s done his job and it’s better for him to rest.

 

The head doctor went outside to give his parents the sad news. They did everything they could.

 

Meanwhile, the nurses sadly wrapped the boy’s cold body with a blanket right before Eric’s eyes.

 

Soon after they finished hearing the voice message, they chose a member to exchange their keys.

 

Seungcheol and Jihoon

Joshua and Dino

Jun and DK

Hoshi and Wonwoo

Minghao and Mingyu

Seungkwan and Vernon.

 

Unfortunately no one matches and since it’s already dark to go to their dates, they went in their personal space and plugged their earphone in their ears to watch Jeonghan’s videos.

 

They opened it almost all at the same time and watched the mini film Jeonghan made by himself for each of them. It was made individually with all his efforts and sincerity.

 

It was heart flattering a heartfelt “Saranghae~ I’ll be back so we’ll be forever.”

 

Minutes later, they received a message from their manager. “I am sorry to tell you that Jeonghan’s parents had just confirmed us that our beloved Jeonghan already passed away. Jeonghan’s parents sent me this to pass to you. ‘My boys, thank you for everything. You make our angel so happy in his life. He told me that all of you are his piece of heaven. Thank you and I’m sorry to tell you that Jeonghan had left us a few moments ago. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.’ –Jeonghan omma.”

 

“No.” each murmured on themselves with tears flowing down through their faces.

 

“No.” the boys couldn’t just accept the fact that that was happening. They wished it was just a nightmare.

 

Seungcheol:

Seventeeeeeeen!

(He shouted)

 

Seungcheol called as he wanted to gather everyone in their living room. With his teary eyes and weak body, he tried to pull himself together and stand for their group as someone they can rely on.

 

The boys huddled up embracing everyone with a tight grip, not to lose one of them. They were all crying in pain. Weeping for their lost.

 

Soon Young:

This can’t be, hyung.

This can’t be.

 

Mingyu:

He said he’ll be back.

 

DK:

Can somebody tell me this is not true?

 

Seungcheol:

I don’t know, guys.

(Kissed their heads)

Jeonghan knows what’s best for him.

Maybe he’s tired.

 

Joshua:

(Tightened his grip on Seungcheol’s shirt)

I can’t believe this is happening.

 

Seungkwan:

How can we start a new one, hyung? How?

 

They cried all their hearts out through embracing each other.

 

“Don’t cry…”

 

LONDON

 

Everyone had already gave up, including Doctor Eric. He couldn’t do anything but hold Jeonghan on his hands before he leaves him with their parents.

 

Doctor Eric:

You’ve fight well, kid.

I’m sorry I fail you.

 

Eric was about to let go of his hand with sadness as his parents were waiting to look at their son’s face with a cold body after they signed some documents.

 

Doctor Eric:

How can I tell the boys that I fail them?

You trusted me with your life, but all I could do was to fail you again and again.

Forgive me.

(He was crying so bad as if he’s weeping for his brother’s death as he kissed his hands)

Jeonghan-ah, thank you for being born. Thank you because you let me meet you.

 

He touched Jeonghan’s pretty face once more.

 

Doctor Eric:

You are prettier than sleeping beauty and your story is such a great fairytale, Jeonghan-ah.

Thank you.

(He kissed him on his forehead as a sign of goodbye)

 

He remembered what Jeonghan said to him. “I trust you because you know what it feels of having this sickness. You survived. And I will too. Even if it means to conquer death and come back again. I will. I know you can do magic, Doctor. I know you are a fairygodmo- father. One touch and everything will be okay.” Jeonghan giggled.

 

Doctor Eric:

I’m sorry I don’t have that magic, Jeonghan ah.

I hope, one touch is enough to take you back.

 

A sudden idea came on him.

 

Doctor Eric:

One touch?

 

He paused for a while scanning his mind about his diary on where does he usually feel a fast beat. Which feeling was it?

 

Then, he thought of a kiss. Since it was really heart flattering according to him; however, Doctor Eric thought that it was absurd. However, how about giving it a try. If he’s still fighting, he should feel what he missed the most. Unfortunately, not a magic kiss from the boys he loved the most.

 

Doctor Eric:

Jeonghan-ah, let me try just this ones. I hope you and the others won’t kill me. If you feel this, show me. Alright? Just a little movement will do.

 

Doctor Eric kissed the boy on his lips tenderly & gently, while nobody was watching.

 

Doctor Eric:

C’mon Jeonghan. I’ll let you beat me after this. Just react so I can resuscitate you. Please.

One movement is enough to confirm, kid.

Please- for CHEOL, SHUA, JUN. HOSHI, WON, HOONIE, GYU, HAO, DK, KWANIE, VERNON, & DINO. Please! They are waiting for you. You have a promise, remember?

 

He was steadily holding Jeonghan’s hands while staring at Jeonghan’s face with his heart stumping so hard.

 

Doctor Eric:

You are getting pale.

(He observed)

 

One second, Jeonghan’s pupils moved as he regained his breathing, though it felt so short.

 

Then, as he confirmed, he became hopeful and called for someone to assist him.

 

Doctor Eric:

Somebody please bring me an oxygen!

 

His shout surprised everyone else. The doctor thought he was hopeless until he was seen on Jeonghan’s top, executing a manual mouth to mouth resuscitation.

 

Doctor:

Eric, I said enough!

Would you like me to suspend you?

 

Doctor Eric:

I don’t care anymore!

This… he’s

(While doing the manual resuscitation)

He’s breathing but it’s weak.

Faster! I need help. There’s no time to waste!

Just give me one last chance. If I fail, I don’t care if I lose my license for doing this.

Please!

I need to save this boy. I need too!

 

They had to respond as they learned that the patient regained his breathing. It’s still a chance to consider and that it’s possible that he may still be alive and be saved.

 

Immediately, they responded. Jeonghan’s parents wished for a second chance. And after a hard work, in one snap, Jeonghan was revived.

 

After he was fighting with death for about almost an hour, Jeonghan was revived.

 

KOREA

 

His vital signs were good enough to know that he’s stable, but he’s still in comma. Still, he had no assurance that he’d wake up.

 

The news spread among the boys and the company. Immediately after a call, all the boys literally collapsed as they became so weak with the sad news they received. But it doesn’t matter as long as they knew Jeonghan was still fighting.

 

Doctor Eric requested that Jeonghan should be transferred back to Korea- to where his home was.

 

An immediate transfer was placed for Jeonghan. He was placed on a plane after 5 days of monitoring and examining his body and declared that it was safe to transfer him.

 

Momentarily, Jeonghan opened his eyes and met Doctor Eric’s eyes with a smile.

 

Doctor Eric:

Good morning, sleeping beauty! We’re about to go home.

 

Jeonghan:

(With a weak smile)

Good morning! I’m sorry but may I know who you are?

 

Jeonghan talked like that of a child, so Doctor Eric acted accordingly.

 

Doctor Eric:

A fairygod father, dear angel.

(He smiled)

 

Jeonghan:

Where’s home?

 

Doctor Eric:

I will take you there as soon as you can walk already.

I will not stop searching for cure, Jeonghan-ah.

Let’s fight together.

 

Jeonghan smiled despite not knowing why the stranger talked to him like that.

 

Jeonghan:

“why are the boys crying?”

 

Jeonghan asked so sudden.

 

Doctor:

Boys?

 

Jeonghan:

They’re crying but I don’t know why.

They are saying my name.

 

Doctor Eric:

Did you miss them? Where going home to see them.

 

Doctor Eric found it absurd believing in miracle, but Jeonghan proved that there is. And he learned his lessons well.

 

Jeonghan:

I’m not sure.

Who are they?

I’m not sure if I know them.

 

Doctor Eric smiled.

 

Doctor Eric:

You will definitely love them as soon as you’ll meet them.

 

Jeonghan:

Are they nice?

 

Eric:

Like angels, just like you.

 

And he closed his eyes again.

 

Jeonghan:

I want to meet them. Are they family?

 

Eric:

Yes. They’re kind of some sort of Princes of one big kingdom. I believe, they call it Caratland.

(He smiled as he explained briefly)

 

Jeonghan smiled.

 

Jeonghan:

I see. It seems like a bright kingdom.

 

 

Doctor Eric:

Yeah. It is.

 

Jeonghan:

But why are they sad?

 

Doctor Eric:

They are missing their precious angel, that’s why.

 

Jeonghan:

Sad. I hope they can see him as soon as possible.

 

Doctor Eric:

Sure they will.

(Witnessing that Jeonghan was about to fall asleep again)

I’ll wake you up when we arrive, alright?

 

Jeonghan:

(With his closed eyes)

Mn.

(He agreed)

 

Days after sleeping long again… Jeonghan met a big hyung in his room inside the hospital with Doctor Eric and his family. Despite Jeonghan was having his memory loss- making the last memory be in his middle school, his family were doing their best to help him remember everything.

 

Manager:

Hi! You look pretty!

 

Jeonghan:

(With clueless expression)

Thank you.

 

Manager:

Your name?

 

Jeonghan:

Jeonghan.

(He answered shyly.)

 

Manager:

Perhaps, are you interested to be an idol?

 

Jeonghan:

I am not sure of that.

 

Manager:

Just give it a try. Here’s my calling card. Pledis is my company. See you there!

 

Jeonghan received the card timidly.

 

Jeonghan:

Thank you.

 

Manager:

We are lacking one member in our group. I hope you can fill it in. You are perfect in the team.

(He said with a smiling, glad face)

 

Jeonghan:

Thank you.

(He smiled charmingly)

 

Manager:

Would you like to talk to the boys? They’re naughty but kind hearted. You’ll like their company.

(He assured)

 

Jeonghan:

It’s up to you, sir.

 

Their manager gave them a call…

 

Chring Chring… Chring Chring… Chring Chring… Annyeong Hasaeyo (Moshi Moshi/ Hello)!

 

The boys were definitely excited upon hearing his voice.

 

Seventeen:

Hello?

 

Jeonghan shyly answered.

 

Jeonghan:

Hello?

 

Seventeen played along and the manager too.

 

Manager:

Jeonghan is the last member to fill that spot you lack.

Introduce yourself to him.

He’ll visit as soon as he’s strong.

 

Seungcheol:

Hey! Seungcheol here. I’m the leader.

 

Jeonghan:

Hello Seungcheol ssi. Nice to meet you.

 

Seungcheol:

It’s okay. We are 12 here so I think it’s okay if you listen first because you will get tired from answering all of us.

(He chuckled)

 

Joshua:

Yo! Wazzup! I’m Joshua. I can speak 5 languages and I’m from LA.

 

Jun:

Hello! I’m Jun. I can do martial arts.

(He giggled)

 

Soon Young:

Hello! I’m Soon Young, Hoshi for short. I have 10:10 o’clock eyes.

 

Soon young’s jolliness let Jeonghan giggle softly.

 

Wonwoo:

Hi! I’m Wonwoo. I’m with the deepest voice in the group.

 

Jihoon:

Jihoon is my name. Vocal team leader.

 

Minghao:

I’m The8. I do b-boy.

 

Mingyu:

Hello! I’m Kim Mingyu, Seventeen’s visual. You can call me Mingyu Sunbaenim.

 

All giggled. Jeonghan felt intimidated somehow but the laugh from the other side indicated that it was a joke.

 

DK:

Hello! My name is Seok Min but they call me DK. Main vocal.

 

Seungkwan:

Hi~ I’m Seungkwan and I’m from Jeju~ (in English) I’m also one of the main vocalists.

 

Vernon:

Vernon. I'm a rapper.

 

Chan:

Uh- Hello! I’m Lee Chan but you can call me Dino. I’m the maknae--- on --- top!

(With full of conviction and passion)

 

Jeonghan:

Nice to talk to you.

My name is Jeonghan. Yoon Jeonghan.

 

Seungcheol:

Welcome to the team.

Our name’s team is…

Alright.

Say the name!

 

All:

SEVENTEEN!

 

Jeonghan smiled and believed that they’re jolly and cool individuals based on their voices and he liked it so much (for some reasons).

 

But then, a question pops up into Jeonghan’s mind.

 

Jeonghan:

I thought you only lack one member.

 

The boys knew what to say.

 

Seungcheol:

Oh! That’s because…

(Despite the real reason, they said their another reason)

Boys!

 

Altogether:

We have 13 members, with 3 units, and we are 1 as a team.

 

Seungkwan:

Equals, SEVENTEEN!

(He laughed because it’s absurd)

 

They could hear Jeonghan giggle.

 

Jeonghan:

Sounds interesting.

 

Seungcheol:

Visit us when you can. We will perform the soonest. Alright?

 

Jeonghan:

Soonest?

 

Seungcheol:

You will know when you come here. Bye. Rest well.

(With a warm voice)

 

Jeonghan:

Thank you. You too.

I mean… to all of you too.

Bye.

(He said sweetly.)

 

Days after, Jeonghan was strong again; although, he still have that sickness… but somehow, he’s strong as he feels his body and even though, he might not regain his strength as before… he feels brand new.

 

He was with their manager and Doctor Eric in case. They took him first to the CEO for a meeting before taking him back to the boys’ dorm.

 

Knock Knock!

 

Mingyu was the one who opened it.

 

Jeonghan was mesmerized to the boy’s visual. He’s tall like a model and his sweet canine teeth gives him a sweet and naughty vibe.

 

Mingyu smiled looking at Jeonghan.

 

Mingyu:

Hello, Jeonghan!

I’m Mingyu. Seventeen’s visual.

Come in.

I’ll introduce you to the other members.

 

Jeonghan was steady for a while and one phrase cracked everyone else.

 

Jeonghan:

Ah… ne, Mingyu sumbaenim.

(He replied innocently as he remembered the time when they called.)

 

All were down on their knees, laughing and struggling to breathe. It was an epic entrance. It was so embarrassing that the tall puppy was slapped all around his body by 12 pair of hands.

 

Mingyu:

Stop it!

It hurts!

 

Jeonghan was staring at them. He felt something was different. He seemed to know them from the past but he couldn’t remember. Somehow, he felt that he’s home with those boys.

 

He was just observing from a far when Joshua approached him.

 

Joshua:

Hey! Joshua here. (in American accent)

 

Jeonghan bowed with his blushing cheeks.

 

Jeonghan:

Nice to meet you.

A-are you fluent in Korean?

(He worried)

 

Joshua:

Yeah.

(he giggled)

 

Joshua gave him a hug.

 

Joshua:

Welcome back Jeonghan.

(He whispered)

 

Seungkwan approached next.

 

Seungkwan:

Hello! I’m Boo Seungkwan, from Jeju~

 

Jeonghan:

(He smiled)

Nice to meet you.

 

Seungkwan:

Hey guys! Leader nim!

Make us fall in line so we can introduce ourselves to him.

Palli!

 

He was so loud and Jeonghan liked it; although, he’s still not used to it.

 

All surrounded him with a big circle.

 

Seungcheol:

Choi Seungcheol. I’m the general leader. You can call me Cheol. You can rely on me.  I can treat you if you want.

 

Joshua:

Hong Joshua. Shua for short. Joshuji if you like. But you are the only one to call me that.

 

Jun:

Wen Jun Hui. Jun for short. Junie~ if you like- it’s sweeter.

(He giggled)

 

Soon Young:

Kwon Soon Young. A human hamster.  Hoshi is my screen name.

(displayed his cheeks with his smile)

 

Jeonghan smiled back.

 

Wonwoo:

Jeon Wonwoo. I’m a cute little kitten.

 

Jeonghan was quite capture with his actor-vibe.

 

Jihoon:

Are you real?

You are pretty. I’m Lee Jihoon. They call me VoBo sometimes. I don’t like skinship, but you are an exception.

 

Jeonghan:

Ah.

Thank you. You too.

 

Minghao:

Xu Minghao. The8 is my stage name. They said, I’m romantic… but I say I’m your sunflower.

(He smiled)

 

Mingyu:

Kim Mingyu…. The model-like giant puppy. Still, the group’s visual.

(He chuckled)

 

DK:

Lee Seok Min. The happy virus. DK for short. I can be your fool.

(showed his crescent moon smiling eyes)

 

Seungkwan:

Boo Seungkwan.

 

With “Boo-bboo-ooo!~” In the background. Thanks to the help of the other members.

 

Seungkwan:

They think I am cute, but I can only be a cutie of one person. That can be you.

(He laughed)

 

Jihoon:

Not true.

(With a teasing face while Seungkwan gave him a sharp stare.)

 

Vernon:

I’m Vernon. Chwe Hansol is my real name. I mean… Korean name. ‘Di Caprio of Seventeen.

 

Chan:

Lee Chan. Dino is my screen name. I’m the modern Korean Michael Jackson.

(With a little dance movement to impress.)

But I’m still the baby of this family.

(He giggled cutely)

 

Jeonghan bowed and introduced himself.

 

Jeonghan:

I’m Yoon Jeonghan.

(with a healthy smile)

Nice to meet you. Please take care of me.

 

Seungcheol:

Sure.

Let’s take care of each other. If you need help, just give us a CALL.

 

Mingyu:

I think, you can be our Angel.

Besides, your birthday is on October 4. Angel suits you. And that’s the only thing we lack here.

 

Wonwoo:

Yeah. In our little zoo with all the kinds of animals from camel to hamster.

 

Jeonghan laughed sweetly and adorably. It makes the other boys feel relief and happy.

 

Jeonghan:

That’s too much for me.

(He blushed)

 

Sebong:

Cutie~

 

Soon young:

No time to stand by.

Are you ready, Jeonghanie, uri Cheonsa?

Let’s practice our song. And dance alright.

 

Seungcheol:

(To doctor Eric)

Is he good to go, doc?

 

Doctor Eric:

Yes. His body still remembers his activities. Don’t worry. He did not rust at all.

Though, he might get confused.

 

Jihoon:

Let’s get it!

(He smiled)

 

Sebongs:

Thank you for bringing him back.

 

Doctor Eric:

No. it was you who brought him back.

I think he saw you crying.

 

Joshua:

He really did paid us a visit.

 

DK:

That scared hella out of us.

Tsk!

(he giggled)

Thank you so much.

 

Doctor Eric:

I’ll be right here. Alright.

I will search for the cure.

But your love is the best maintenance.

Just let him be.

You will be fine.

And observe him as always, but I guess, he’s back.

But, slowly. He doesn’t recall things yet.

 

Wonwoo:

We will be.

Thank you so much.

 

Doctor Eric:

Shower him with love.

Have you complete talking to all of you?

Have you completed the 12 rounds of failing already?

 

Dino:

We still fail as we didn’t open yet the box.

 

Doctor Eric giggled and handed them over a set of keys. 13 of them. meaning… they lack one box missing.

 

Doctor Eric:

Jeonghan tricked you so you can open up with each other. He said you are paying too much attention to him and that he felt guilty upon it because he’s been getting your time from your family and from each one of you.

You have this key. Distribute it to everyone. It’s color coded so you will know.

The last key is for a door with your memories in it. You can see them in Japan.

Congratulations, Seventeen! I hope you stay together. I’m here to stick you all like glue with the help of Jeonghan. So…

Not done with my job yet.

He’s still weak. Not to mention his sickness condition. I’ll monitor him with the electric therapy. I think I can improve that so the pain will be lessen from time to time.

And from our studies… I think, the problem is not only coming from the brain, but with his heart also.

If we finalize everything, I think we need to operate him in his heart…

Not sure if he needs a new one.

And as I said, he will be confused.

(He smiled)

 

Seungcheol:

Is that so? Then, our job is to make him healthy.

Seems like we’re back to where we begin.

(he smiled)

 

Seungcheol looked at the boys.

 

Seungcheol:

Fighting!!!

 

Sebongs:

Fighting!

 

Jeonghan just smiled shyly. And when the boys looked at him because he didn’t respond…

He felt that he need to and he shouted cutely…

 

Jeonghan:

Fighting!

I will do my best!

(He giggled)

 

And another chapter begins in the boys’ lives.

 

Where would their story bring them? Will there be another problem? Will Jeonghan find his true love?... Will there be cure with Jeonghan’s sickness?

 

Well… It doesn’t matter because all of them are together now, and they’ll make sure they’ll be together… forever.
