Stained Wings

Description

Sometimes we are drawn to others, call it predetermination, call it destiny, call it the red string of fate. However, it happens and what you do when it does happen can change things forever. But one has to remember that all things come with a price and when the debt collector comes, be sure to pay it.

There is a story about love and loss that we share with our children. This story has passed fron generation to generation in rememberance that everything in the world is about balance: when one receives, one must give too.

Long ago, there were Angels and Hunters. Both equalised the other, no one knows why but it is said that the Hunters regulated the Angels and the Angels regulated the Hunters. Both side had a List of those who had disobeyed rules and were to be punished. This was the basis of their interactions. It wasn't that there was particular hate between the two, there was just much distrust because of whispers of either side wanting to outpower the other. However, it all changed after the Banishment which came before the Pact, where once there was simply avoidance and minimal communication, now there was an outright hostility and complete isolation of the two sides with a promise of no war.

Prologue

Before the Pact...

It was a dark night, he heard a sound coming from an alleyway. He walked towards it, pulling out his bow and arrow, and tugged the string readying to fire at a moments notice. He took a deep breath with his back on the wall close to the alleyway. Turning fast, eyes scanning as soon as he was in the alleyway, he was stunned to see an angel. The angel was lying on her side with her one wing curled and the other broken and angled in an abnormal position. Blood pooled around the angel, the bright red contrasting the pure whiteness of the angel. He looked at her, looking for defining features hoping to identify her. She wasn't a familiar face, she wasn't on the List. He could save her... if he wanted to.
