    “Yah Son Seungwan” I playfully pushed you away as you tried to get icing on my face “Don’t you dare!”

“Stop being a grandma, babe” you chuckled before getting icing on my face. I sent you a glare and just as I was about to wipe of the icing spotted on the corner of my lips, you caught my lips in a kiss “Come on, its Yerimmie’s birthday. The rest are having so much fun”

I lightly groaned “fine”

Two

    You were always that social-butterfly back in College. Almost everybody in the University knew you because of the reputation that you hold. You were probably the ideal of men and women. And I couldn’t help but feel insecure and uneasy when other students would turn to look at us—and I could see it in their judging eyes... as if they are asking why you chose me and why would you waste your time on someone like me

“Hey, are you okay?” you reached out for my hand and intertwined our fingers

“Wan... why me?” I couldn’t help but ask

You genuinely smiled and looked at me with eyes filled with so much love “Because I love you, Bae Joohyun”

“Why do you love me?” I questioned. I wasn’t really anything special. I wasn’t part of the intelligent kids. I’m neither the captain of the cheerleading team nor a member of those body-to-die-for cheerleaders. I was not even part of any sports team. I was just that plain student who you happen to see on the University’s library during her free time because she prefers to be surrounded with a lot of books than a lot of people

You planted a kiss on my forehead “Back then, the deepest part of my heart had nothing... then I met you. Now, the place where there was nothing before... there is love”

I love how you always know how take the insecurities away. I love the way you look at me. I love the way you kiss me. I love the ways that you show me that you really do care for me. I love the way that you touch me. I love the fact that you are with me and that you are mine

I love the way you tell me that; full of sincerity and I could hear you promising me a love that is never ending

   We finally moved in together after I got an Internship at a big medical institution. It was quite a busy day that I arrived late and I was surprised that you still decided to wait for me

“Wan?”

There it was again, that bright smile of yours “Welcome home” You whispered as you wrapped me tightly around your arms “I miss you so much”

   A couple of months after moving in together, the hardships of adulthood had finally sunk in our minds. Your father stepped down as the CEO of your company and you had to take over your family’s business. I, on the other hand, was on the process of completing my Medical Residency Training. We got too busy that we don’t see each other that much anymore

And if we do

We’d sometimes be on each other’s throats

“Why can’t you understand Seungwan?” I ran my hand to my hair “My schedule isn’t like yours! My schedule is tight compared to yours! And we already talked about this even before I got the internship, so what are you so mad about?”

“I’m not mad, Hyun. It’s just that... It’s frustrating that I don’t get to see you often” You let out a clearly frustrated sigh “I’m frustrated because of how much I miss you and you... you don’t seem like you miss me at all, not even just a bit”

“Are we going back to this again, Wan? Ofcourse I do miss you too!”

“You do?” There was a hint of a mocking tone in the way you responded

“Ofcourse I do!” Before you could even reply, I continued “You know what? Both of us are just exhausted because of work. Let us take a good night sleep and then we will talk about this tomorrow”

“You’re doing this again” Your eyes met mine and it pains me when you look at me like—- like we are both in a hopeless case “... you are avoiding me again, Joohyun”

I was about to say something but you turned your back against me and proceeded to our shared bedroom. And it was another night of you not sleeping beside me.
