I opened my eyes, as a strong cold wind my cheeks, but to see this beautiful face sleeping up there.

I looked around, to see that we are still on our new hideout at the rooftop I decorated with Junho hyung.

I tried to get up, but to see her coat covering me, while she is sleeping with thin layer of clothes.

Quickly I took off and put it on her, then put the cushion on the other side of the sofa and leaned her to it.

Taeyeon

I opened my eyes on a smell of coffee and crunchy roasted toast.

“You’re up?” he asked while filled a mug in front of me with hand dripped coffee.

“Did I sleep here?”

“No, I just brought you from your room.”

“What? Are you crazy?”

“Yes, I’m crazy in love with you.”

I was stunned for few moments. But I got back to my sense, since I realized that everything that come out from his mouth is a joke.

“Oh my darling lover, what do you have for the night?” I played with him.

He blinked few times, then laughed. “I don’t my beautiful lady, what do you want us to do?” he bit his lip and leaped toward her, to fill the space between them and leave just few inches to breath some air, that Taeyeon couldn’t control it, as her heart pounded hardly and loudly.

Thankfully Taeyeon’s phone rang then, “H-Hello?” she answered.

“Taeyeon, I’m not going home tonight, tell mom.” It was her sister Hyoyeon.

“What? Why are we going home?”

“Hey! It’s the beginning of the Christmas holiday!” she shouted at her.

“What? Is it today?”

“Is that boy taking your mind for real?”

“Unnie!”

“Anyway, I’m going to spend the weekend at Yuri’s place, tell mom for me.”

“Alright.”

“I heard your café is almost finished.”

“Yeah, we will open it after this holiday.”

“Anyway, let this boy visit our place once.”

“What? Why?”

“I heard he’s good with chess.”

“Where did you hear that from?” she said is in irritated tone.

“Are you jealous already? Wow! I can’t believe that you’re my sister.” She laughed, “I’m ending miss in love.”

“Are you going to your parent’s house?” he asked her.

“I think so, let me go and pack my stuff.”

“I will wait for you, let me drive you there.”

“You don’t have to, aren’t you going to your parent’s place?”

“No, they are out of town. I’m alone here.”

“Alright then, I will play with you.”

“What? Are you for real?”

“I don’t have anyone too.” She shrugged.

Taeyeon went into her room singing out loud.

“Oh sorry, I didn’t you were here.”

Sandra park smiled, “It’s okay.” She stretched an arm, “Hello, I’m Sandra Park-”

“I know.” She said nonchalantly, “Kim Taeyeon.”

Sandra frowned, since it was an unexpected reaction from Taeyeon.

“You’re Jiy- I mean Jimmy’s girlfriend.”

“No.”

“Alright, it looks that you’re not in the mood to talk anymore. Merry Christmas.” She told her and left.

Taeyeon didn’t know why she can’t keep her face straight when she see this girl.

She packed her stuff and went with Jimmy.

“Come and have a cup of tea.” She invited.

“Hey, I will really come in.” he smiled.

She nodded and chuckled.

As he unloaded from the car, he saw that grandmother he helped before.

“Grandmother!” he smiled and ran to her. “How are you?” he asked politely.

“Oh! it’s you that young man.” She smiled, “What brought you to here?”

“I’m with me friend-”

“Grandma!” Taeyeon called.

“Oh! you know her?”

“She’s my grandmother.”

The grandmother chuckled.

“You knew then? But why didn’t…?” he got confused.

“Let’s go inside.” She invited.

“What’s going on? You knew my grandmother?” Taeyeon asked as they entered this traditional Korean house.

“Last time, when I-”

The grandmother cut Ji, “Taeyeon-ah, bring me some tea.”

“I will call Ms. Jung.”

“No, you bring it here.” She insisted, “I want that special tea.”

“But that tea is…”

“Just bring it.”

She nodded, “Alright, grandma.”

“Young man,” she called. “I want you to not tell anyone about my situation that day.”

“What? But why?”

“Just, I don’t want them to get concerned about me.”

He knew that there must be there a reason that she wanted to hide, “Alright, grandmother.”

“So, how you knew my granddaughter?”

“She’s my friend at university.”

“Just?” she asked while smiling.

He nodded, “Till now there’s just friendship between us.”

“You’re brave, young man.”

“Sorry for not introducing myself before.” He stood up, “I’m Jimmy K.”

“You got raised overseas?”

“Something like that.”

“Grandmother,” Taeyeon came in with that special tea.

As Jimmy tasted it, “Oh!” he was surprised.

“How is it?” Taeyeon’s grandmother asked.

“It tastes familiar.”

“What?” Taeyeon reacted, “This is impossible.”

“Why?”

“This tea is handmade by my grandmother.” 

“It tastes really the same, I had one similar with my grandfather as I was young.”

The grandmother chuckled.

“What’s wrong grandma?”

“Nothing,” she called, “Ms. Jung!”

“Yes ma’am.”

“Prepare the lunch for us, Hyoyeon’s father will come in any moment.”

“Sure ma’am.”

“I’ve to go then.”

“Where are you going? You should have lunch before going.”

“No, it’s okay grandma.”

“Yes grandma, he has to go.” Taeyeon pushed him.

“Ya! Kim Taeyeon.” She got angry, “Where is the manners I taught them to you?”

“But grandma-”

“A guest should never-”

“A guest should never step out of our place without being filled with our food and love.” 

Jimmy chortled.

They went to have lunch, but as they have tradition that never eat until everyone is at the table.

So, they had to wait for Taeyeon’s grandfather and parents.

“Hey, I feel like I’m in an historic drama.”

“I feel the same even after 22 years of living this typical life.”

He laughed quietly with her.

Her grandmother glared at them, and they returned to the poker face once again.

Then her parents entered, “Mother we are back.” Her mother came in announcing.

“Welcome in.”

“Oh! we have a guest.” She noticed Jimmy.

“How have you been? I’m Jimmy K.”

“Welcome to our family, young man.” Her mother greeted, but Taeyeon’s father is standing there eyeing Jimmy so hard.

“Honey.” She poked him.

“Are you Taeyeon’s boyfriend?” he asked directly.

As Ji parted his lips to answer, Taeyeon answered quickly, “No, he’s just a friend.”

“Sit down.” Her grandmother ordered.

“What’s going on?” Taeyeon’s grandfather came then.

Jimmy went up and bowed again, “Hello, I’m Jimmy K.”

“Oh! Taeyeon-ah, you’re really something.” Her grandpa winked, “You’re brought a man finally to our house.”

“Ah, grandpa~” she whined as her cheeks turned red.  

“let’s eat.” They finally got to satisfy their crying stomachs.

Ji took the first spoon of the Doenjang-jjigae – bean paste stew – in front of him, he blinked for couple of times, then took another one, and his eyes got teary.

“What’s wrong? Is it that bad?” Taeyeon’s mother asked.

“It’s just…” he got speechless.

Taeyeon’s grandmother smiled.

“Ya, what’s wrong?” Taeyeon gave him a cup of water.

“It’s so delicious.” He marked, “It reminded me of someone.”

“Who?”

“It’s fine, as long as it matched your taste.” Her grandma concluded.

“What do you do?” her father asked him.

“I’m in business major as Taeyeon.”

“Where’s Hyoyeon?”

“Ah right mom,” Taeyeon swallowed, “Unnie will stay at Yuri’s place for the weekend them come.”

“This girl never stayed at home.” Her grandfather said and laughed, “Do you know that once we locked her here, and said that there’s a war outside, she flew secretly and came in back with a bag of sweets saying ‘what war are you talking about? I know everything.’” everyone laughed.

“Is that your partner that Hyoyeon talked about?” her father asked.

“Ah yes, we ran a business together and won the first place.”

“Really? You’re my granddaughter for real!” her grandfather bragged.

“What was your award then?”

“They will open our business at the university’s campus after this holiday.”

“Really? You hit the jackpot Kim Taeyeon.” Her mother felt proud.

“No, she met a good partner that’s why.” Her grandmother said with a smile.

Jimmy smiled, “Thank you.”

After they had their afternoon tea.
