Just because he was not interested in girls doesn't mean he could not appreciate Lydia. In fact he could and nobody should judge him... Not even Ari with her knowing smirks!

It was not like he was attracted to Lydia, it was just that she was very pleasant to look at. Besides he had nothing to do. Ari had left him with Lydia, not to forget with a huge smirk, and he had nothing to do.

Besides Lydia could talk! From the moment he met her till now she had not closed for even a minute. To be honest he was getting tired.

No wonder Ari left them.

Lydia suddenly stops talking making Kai's attention come back to her.

"Just how close are you with Ari?" She asks, her expression curious. "She never had any close friends before. She was very close to her dad when she grew up so it hurt her a lot when her parents got divorced. She isn't much open."

Kai squints a little. He did not know anything about Ari at all!

It was not like Ari did not talk to him, she just did not say anything regarding anything about herself. Why?

He also did not ask... did he?

"Yeah yeah..." Kai mutters without thinking much about her question.

"Why aren't you guys dating?" Lydia asks again.

His eyes shoots open at once at that question that had dropped out of blue and he involuntarily gulp at that.

"We... um. .. we aren't. .. we are just friends." Kai stammered an answer, unsure why he was suddenly shy.

Chapter 66: I finished this in one go. And I'm thinking what to comment, actually reading this makes me think hard. About Ari, about Kai and all life stuff. lol. anyway, this hurts knowing if only Kai reached out to her, by then this won't end like this. But then again, its in human nature so I understand Kai. He is selfish to only think of his own problems but he is already drowning in his own demons to see that others are suffering as well. But I'm happy everything turns out well for him in the end. And I also salute Ari, she fight long enough though she decided to give up and rest in the end. She is brave enough to at least help and be there for Kai even if she is also drowning in her own demons.

Thank you for this one and I hope you are okay now. If in any case you need someone just to listen to you and has no one else, you can PM me. Cheers for more great work Ms. Author 💙

Chapter 66: This hurts

But I'm grateful for your final message. Life is precious, no matter how difficult at the time. I didn't end up as Ari but I did have a time like her. It's hard not to drown in our own pain and miss that of others. I feel reminded to see beyond myself.

I hope you (and fellow readers) always take care <3
