Baekhyun has known her for years. Eight, to be precise. Seven, as her best friend. Through all the years, he watched her grow, bloom, change.

She wasn’t always this frivolous, or this unpredictable. No, actually, Baekhyun remembers when she was all cute and lovely. She was kind, and she only knew goodness. She treated everyone with respect, she treated herself with respect. But then they went to different colleges and Baekhyun could no longer watch over her and be her friend.

They still met up. They still talked. But Baekhyun could see the changes in her. First it was the makeup. She never wore makeup before. He still thinks she looks better without it. Then it was the way she never really looked into Baekhyun’s eyes whenever she talked. And then it was how she spent her Friday nights and weekends. She changed and while Baekhyun is on the road to successfully take over his father’s business, she is still living that carefree lifestyle that she should have let go of when she left college.

Yet despite all the adjustments in her, Baekhyun still manages to catch glimpses of the real her sometimes. Because on the days she doesn’t feel like acting, on the days she finds it hard to breathe, she knows that she can find comfort in Baekhyun.

And Baekhyun?

He knows he will never get over the girl who would never look at him the same way he looks at her if he simply lets her find rest in him. But he still does.

Because he hopes that maybe, just maybe, when the stars go out and the world gets too loud, she will rest her love on him.
