Reality

Kyuhyun had come to realize that nothing is more heartbreaking than listening to the one you like talk about the one they like.

He had been idly flipping through the channels, sprawled out on the dorm’s couch, when Siwon barged into the dorm, looking like he had something remarkable to share.

Kyuhyun had jumped slightly at the sudden appearance - he was easy to startle. His relaxed position stiffened when he saw Siwon stride towards him with a broad grin. The older plopped down on the couch after carefully moving Kyuhyun’s legs off it.

The fact that Siwon was sitting next to him, ready to talk, in the otherwise empty living room was too uncommon for Kyuhyun to comprehend.

The situation would have been manageable had Siwon not sighed happily, resting the back of his head on the couch before blurting out to the ceiling, “I met a girl.” The tone of his voice was one of utter content that it created a knot in Kyuhyun’s throat.

Kyuhyun said nothing and tried his best to look undisturbed by the news. He wasn’t sure what face he was supposed to put on, but somehow Siwon didn’t notice any of it - the stillness, the lack of response - he didn’t even lock eyes with the younger as he continued to describe this girl with bright expressions, a smile that transformed but never left his face, and expressive gestures that made Kyuhyun want to res
