Something Wrong There
A FarewellHey guys.
So honestly, I still find it hard to believe this is all real. As someone who is diagnosed with clinical depression, I can understand how Jonghyun was feeling and why he resorted to taking his own life. But at the same time, and this may come off as really harsh, I find what he did to be incredibly selfish. I'm pretty upset with myself that I feel this way, but I've kinda always felt this way about suicide (coming from someone who considered it at one point in her life). It's not like once he ended his life that would be the end of it and the world can go on. No. What he did effects his parents. It affects his sister. It affects his band mates. It affects S.M. Entertainment. It affects his fans and everyone who's ever heard of or known Jonghyun. He decided to leave everyone behind because he couldn't handle it. I guess, because of this, I'm pretty angry with his decision.
Now, I obviously don't know the details of his situation. I don't know if he was seriously seeking professional help or if he was taking medication to help combat this disease. And most of all, I don't know why he gave up so easily.
On another note, South Korea has the second largest suicide rates in the entire world. So there's obviously something wrong there. Are they not taking mental health as seriously as they should be there? I know it's kind of taboo to talk about it...
Anyways, I hope this situation helps bring to light the importance of mental health. And may Jonghyun Rest In Peace.
